Mayor James Ireton, Jr., today, will announce the selection of a new Fire Department Chief and a new Information Technology Director for the City of Salisbury.
Please join us at Fire Station 16 on Cypress Street for a press conference, today, Tuesday, October 12th, at 3:00 p.m.
Mayor Ireton will be available after the press conference for questions regarding crime and the public input meeting taking place tonight at Station 16 on his proposed Safe Streets Neighborhood Legislative package.
"I am excited that these new leaders will continue to help move Salisbury forward. The exhaustive process that our human resources department, as well as City Administrator Pick and Assistant City Administrator Chambers undertook, was comprehensive and thorough. I am proud of the professionalism and experience that our new directors bring to us, and I know that they will help me, and our employees, continue our march forward to a more safe, secure city," said Mayor Ireton
jeff simpson... know anything about him?
ReplyDeletethis is the same mayor that stated during the campaign that he would make the city govt smaller. certainly adding a totally new dept will accomplish that goal.
ReplyDeletethanks sjd
What about the City Attorney?
ReplyDeleteDT is already reporting the Fire Chief is Jeffrey Simpson and the Council did not approve of Leatherbury for Police Chief, as Ireton recommended.
ReplyDeleteIreton is a complete IDIOT if he replaces Barklay.... A Complete IDIOT...
ReplyDeleteI hope the new Chief will listen to the firefighters (career & vol.) and do what is right to move the department forward. Gordy has to go in order for the department to heal and come together as one department. Many times career and vol. do not always agree, but the common thread between the two is that they want Gordy gone.
ReplyDeleteHe definitely needs to be a part of the old leadership, and start over. Hoppes needs to be gone as well.
ReplyDeleteClean broom sweeps clean!!!!!
Twice Ireton said publicly that Ivan Barkley could have the job of chief of police and now he throws in his Democrat Club buddy Ernie Leatherbury? Nothing like doing favors from the throne room for your buddies, LIARTON. I am sorry I ever supported him for office. It won't happen twice.
ReplyDeleteHoppes looked VERY DISAPPOINTED at the news conference shown on WBOC!!!
ReplyDeleteI fear yet another wrong move has been made by the City of Salisbury. After a little checking in Hanover County Jeff Simpson isn’t well thought of at all by his peers. As stated by one individual “We’re happy to see him go” and “We are glad he’s you’re problem now. Mr. Simpson started his career as a volunteer firemen then transitioned to the career ranks as Hanover County became a combination department. Since that time Mr. Simpson has made all attempts to run out volunteers as stated in a phone conversation today and I quote his plans are to abolish the volunteer system for good in Hanover County. Also lingering over Mr. Simpson’s head are several acquisitions of thievery from the logistics department. While no formal charges were filed being a department thief stuck to Mr. Simpson.
ReplyDeleteWe can run this one out the same as we did brezler.
ReplyDelete8:11, if it is actually true that you contacted someone, it must of been in the wrong zip code or wrong state. Mr. Simpson has been an advocate for volunteers his entire career and currently serves as the chairman of the volunteer chiefs' staff. Thats right, a paid administrative officer elected by 16 volunteer stations as their leader. He is also one of the most ethical and trustworthy people that I have had the pleasure to serve with. Any comment to the contrary is simply slanderous.

I agree with you on this, but maybe you should have signed your name just as much as that commenter should have. It might have been a good idea to name names as well. I don't believe either of you so your credibility sucks.
The negative comments were probably posted by a Hoppes or Gordy supporter. They know their days are numbered. New Sheriff in town!!!!!

ReplyDeleteThe charter says that the Mayor is supposed to choose a department head not John Pick or Lore Chambers. We the people elected Mayor Ireton to lead our city not ruin it. The first thing YOU promised to do was to make change. YOU said all department heads would have to reapply for their jobs. YOU promised to get rid of Wilbur, Pick and Chambers. YOU LIED!!

No this post is endorsed by "Emory Frost" and that is one person not the list of volunteer stations in Hanover. We may have been born at night, but not last night. Again the credibility of the commenter sucks sucks.
Let's take a Poll:
ReplyDeleteHow many people want Gordo to be gone?
I for one believe we can't afford his "volunteer work" any longer. Please volunteer somewhere else!
I want Gordy, Hoppes and Bragg gone!!
ReplyDeletehoppes should be disappointed. he knows that if the new chief was to up and leave that he is still now good enough to be the fire chief. time to retire, take the pirate with you.
ReplyDeleteAs far as police chief goes, Ireton said there were way to many murders in this city to keep Barkley. Agreed! BUT Salisbury will never clean up! A new chief will have the same understanding as Barkley, do what the Mayor says or you no longer have a job. Sorry Ireton, your the real reason there were so many murders this year! You furloughed the officers, you won't hire more officers, and you have not given them a raise in lord knows how long! Of course, it will only get worse!
ReplyDeleteYou never can get a straight story from these whiney career firemen. Wah Wah Wah goes the fire truck and paid fire fighter.
ReplyDeleteIt has been revealed by an inside source that Chief Simpson did not leave on good terms. Does anyone know the reason? Again Ireton chooses someone elses problems.
ReplyDeleteI just want everyone to know that the information about Chief Simpson stated earlier is not true by any means. I know who "Frost" is and i can assure you that he is a very fine fellow and would never lie. As for you losers who keep calling Simpson an outsider he will do everything he can to get the stations and Fire Department of Salisbury up and running smooth.
ReplyDeleteSincerely,
Hanover Vol. Fire Fighter
