Leftist Group Advising Homeland Security Ops

Contributes to report about using social services to battle 'extremism'

Government reports characterizing some returning veterans as possible extremists have echoed the sentiments of the Southern Poverty Law Center, which has likened tea party participants to shades of executed mass murderer Timothy McVeigh.

But now it seems the SPLC has been made part of the broad Department of Homeland Security community, with its president, Richard Cohen, helping formulate plans to be submitted to Secretary Janet Napolitano to help "combat violent extremism."

The issue was raised by Stewart Rhodes, founder of the Oath Keepers organization, which recruits a wide range of peace officers and others to affirm that they will not go beyond the reach of the U.S. Constitution, even if asked to by their government.

  1. Each and every member of our Armed Forces take an OATH to defend the Constitution from all Enemies Foreign and DOMESTIC. Each and everyone attends clases every year on the subject of what are ileagle orders. That section (enemies DOMESTIC) of the oath we all live and die by is there specificly to keep the government from misusing the military against it's own citizens. We are one of the very few militaries in the world that spends that much time and effort teaching every member the difference between a legeal and illegeal orders.

  3. The Oath Keepers are a bunch of blow hard hypocrites that would crap their pants if confronted with the end of an M16 rifle. All talk.

  4. They didn't mention this member of the DHS board:

Laurie Wood - Analyst, Southern Poverty Law Center/Instructor, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center

So we have a board member who is a member of a left wing socialist organization AND and Instructor at a Federal LAw Enforcement Training Center. This is BIG news people. Soon the DHS will control agriculture (Skip Williams Provost and Vice President for Health Affairs, The George Washington University - Ag is his thing), law enforcement training, Environmental issues (Frances Townsend Partner, Baker Botts, L.L.P. - enviromental atty's). The list goes on. This is a back door attempt to control everything in this country as a matter of national security. It's as though they are massing their troops on the border awaiting some percieved civil unrest. When something happens they will unleash homeland security on the people and martial law will be the order of the day. Lock and load....keep your powder dry folks.

  7. Well they better get ready. History repeats itself. There are many parallels in the things that took place before the revolutionary war, before the civil war, and now. The revolutionary war was fought against slavery for a tyrant king. The civil war was fought for states rights and against slavery based on race. The next will be fought against tyrants (politicians and bankers) who enslave the working class people for monetary gain. The constitution has been set aside by these people to keep we the serfs under control and working to pay their salaries. Their time is coming. We can all feel it.

  8. 11:26, cut your revolution balogna.Idiots like you are just pissed your guy lost an election. Suck it up and do a better job of arguing your position next go around. The "foreign muslim terrorist socialist dictator" has been in power for two years yet I don't see anyone in chains. So you can do away with all the ridiculous hyperbole now.

  9. 11:26 is right. 7:55 you just refuse to see the truth. The chains you mention are those of dependence and regulation. 50% of all Americans receive public assistance. This need for public assistance is proof that the economic chains of a tyrant government are upon us. Think of what will happen when the public assistance is no longer available. If the government hadn't chained us with taxes and with regulations that govern our every move our economy would have been up and running at speed again. No. 11:26 is right. A revolution is coming. Let's just hope it's at the ballot box this November.

  11. Nobody forced anyone onto food stamps and gov. assistance. Last I checked we experienced a recession of historic proportions. Common sense says that a record number of people would seek aid. But no one forced them to. This recession occurred at a time when taxes were at a historical low and during a swing of deregulation. Your hysteria keeps you from taking an objective view of the facts which also prevents you and other loons from the left and right from seeing the solution.

  12. No one forced them to go on food stamps??? LOL!!! I guess you're right....they COULD have just started eating their children and burning candles....11:26 is absolutely correct. AND, a WHOLE lot of people are "getting ready"....
