Dead Beat Parents

No one denies that being a parent is a incredibly challenging, time consuming, learn as you go, amazing experience. But in today’s times, parents face even more additional  challenges then what was foreseen fifty years ago, the Deadbeat Parent. With so many non-traditional family units in America, many single parents are facing the continuous problem for the lack of financial support (child support) from the absent partner.

           

As of today there are about 700,000 families in America that do not receive  financial support from an absent parent (http://deadbeatdad/. us). This number is astronomically large, especially in this economy. A single parent has so many challenges outside of finances why add one more stressors that is out of their control.

Statistically, children with single parents are “32 times more likely to run away, 20 times more likely to end up in prison, 20 times more likely to have behavioral disorder, 10 times more likely to abuse chemical substances, 9 times more likely to drop out of school.”(http://deadbeatdad/. us)  In order to help prevent these statistics I want to arm such families with the best chances possible by helping them find delinquent child support. This is just a small way to help thousands of families that struggle daily to make ends meat and these struggles do not stop with Mothers but also single Fathers.

If elected I want to work with the Worcester County Department of Child Enforcement to help them track down and hold accountable those that have warrants for their arrest for outstanding unpaid court ordered child support. There are presently 961 active child support warrants with-in the sheriff’s office that haave not been served. I promise to dedicate a section on the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office website to this cause, and to actively enforce service of these warrants currently held by the Sheriff’s office.

On our webpage we will place photographs of those  fugitive offenders who have active warrants, along with any other additional identifying information that would help the public to locate them and bring them to justice.
