Black Republican leaders are demanding that President Barack Obama apologize for what they consider a racially insensitive remark that he made on the campaign trail this weekend.
During a campaign swing the president said, "We don't mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for a ride, but they gotta sit in back."
Dr. Timothy F. Johnson, the black Republican who heads the National Black Republican Association, told Newsmax in an e-mail Wednesday that Obama should immediately apologize for the offensive reference to the Jim Crow era.
"Once again the president is perpetuating the racism that exists, and [is] portrayed by the so-called Civil Rights organizations and their leaders," Johnson stated.
"Americans are sick and tired of these divisive statements the president continues to make," he added. "Our first objective is November 2, 2010.
"Next is to find the next president of the United States, and retire President Obama to Chicago, Hawaii, or Kenya in Nov. 2012," stated Johnson.
Johnson is not alone in finding the president's "sit in back" remark offensive.
What if a Republican president had made such a remark? asked Fox News contributor Monica Crowley. She said it would have triggered an uproar from Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.
"I think after the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s, riding in the back certainly does have some Civil Rights and racial overtones to it, and you can't tell me the president of the United States wasn't aware of it when he said it," Crowley said Wednesday on Fox News. "I found his comment there appalling [and] I found his refusal to address it in a straightforward way also appalling."More on this
Obama should step down !
ReplyDeleteBO will go down in history as The Great Divider.
ReplyDeleteObama is clueless!
ReplyDeleteWait a minute here you can not have your cake and eat it to. I am in no way a racist and I am glad I lived to see the day our country has a Black President, but how are you going to celebrate with him as countless people did when he was sworn in, then turn around and call him a racist. Is he black?, is he white?,Muslim?,Christian ?, make up your mind.
ReplyDeleteThe only people still backing him are the ones laying around on their lazy backsides waiting for obama money!! That's a fact!
ReplyDeleteTo 9:58, is he racist? Let's see, went to a racist church for 20 years and can't stop telling us the difference in our cultures. What do you think? Is he a muslim? Non-stop promotion of islam, muslim rights and promotions of muslims. Again, what do you think? A little commen sense and open eyes will answer your question for you.
Political Correctness gone mad
ReplyDeleteTo the writer of this article, please shut the heck up.
ReplyDeleteAs a 53 year old black female born in the U. S., I feel you 9:58 a.m.
This is another Black on Black crime. Blacks, sell each other out. Blacks, snitch on each other. Blacks fight each others. Blacks are killing each other. Our young black men and women have made jails throughout the country their homes. And, we do nothing. Now, we have a bunch of Black American "Tokens" for the republican/tea party crucify the only Black man this country may ever have as a President of the United States.
Blacks in American have the highest unemployment rate in this country. Our people are suffering. And, these "Tokens" are crying about a non racist statement made by our President while campaigning on the road. Do you "Tokens" not know this man is looking out for ALL hard working American families in this country whether you are Black, Red, Brown or Whites? If you let this man do his job, we will all benefit.
This man came into the Office of the President of this here U. S. with garbage everywhere left over from previous presidents. Now, Black Republicans wants to crucify this man. You guys should really be a shame of yourselves and you really need to ride in the back of the car seats. Its people like you that give reason as to why America does not respect or care about the plight of American Blacks. We have absolutely no respect for each other. Why should any other ethnic group in America respect Blacks in America?
Whatever we are calling ourselves; African Americans, Black Americans, Afro Americans, Negroes, Colored don't know, care to know or willing to know how we can take care of each other. We are like crabs in a basket. When one crab tries to climb out of a basket to survive and help another, the other crabs just keep pulling that crabs back in the basket.
We are a race of people who do not trust our leaders. We don't trust each other. Our people are suffering and we do absolutely nothing except criticize one who manages to pull himself out of the basket. This man is trying to help an entire nation. Has any Black Republican offered a solution to the problems in our country that all will benefit from? No. It has always been about the dollar bills for their pockets. Heck, my mother and her family went through a depression. They survive with the help of each other. And, she turned out to be a great mom. Her strength, knowledge and beliefs have helped me become the women I am today. She is my greatest idol and the one I can count on in good or bad times. Blacks today would not know what to do if this nation went into a full blown depression. Some can't help themselves; let it be known helping someone else.
We need to stop this Black on Black crime. Stop this hatred towards each other. Stand up and be the honorable people we use to be. Not, backstabbers, theives, liars, killers, hopelessness and helplessness. We come from Kings and Queens. This nation and its people need Black America to stand strong. Not "Tokens" to a group of people who does not mean us well.
Since when did you have to discriminate against your own skin color to be a racist... Does it matter what nationality Obama really is??? He critisizes whites and blacks! I personally dont care if he is black or Muslim, he is certanly not a good leader. Anyone in his position reguardless of age, race, nationality, or religious preference should have more tact and smarts- than to make comments like these in public!
ReplyDeleteAmerica needs to wake up and see that Obama is a bad choice for Americas Leader
Remember this man is not a citizen and would not have been in the country during the 60's civil rights movement. He has made it clean he does not know a lot with regard to American history so he is not as well versed in the civil rights mayhem of the 1960's.
ReplyDelete12:27- wah, wah, wah!!! Blacks have it soooo bad! You know people like you are holding back intelligent, hard-working, family oriented African-Americans by telling them they can't tell the TRUTH if someone looks like them! What a moron!!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, get a job!!!!!!
12:27 You are a bigger racist than Obama or at least equal too! You want to give this incompetent disgrace of a President a pass because he is black... not going to happen, with the election of this loser blacks have achieved equal rights and no longer will the hard working American worker be beaten over the head by race baiters like you! The gig is up!
