Barbara Duncan To Be Named Salisbury Police Chief Today

Well, Mayor Ireton and the City Council have gone and done it. The next Police Chief will be Barbara Duncan from New York. A Press Conference will be held today at 12:30 to formally announce her being hired. Unfortunately I will be in candidate interviews and I will not be able to attend.

  5. 10:19 And you wonder why you are still single.

Maybe it will take some new blood to get the police force back in shape, however I think that Barkley wasn't given a fair chance at it.

  6. The City of Salisbury is going down in flames, from all angles. Anyone who stays now does not have the right to complain anymore. They get everything they deserve. YOU PEOPLE voted these CLOWNS into office.

  7. Call me a chauvanist if you like. I do not believe the Police Chief should be a lady.

Then again, I may be making an assumption about the word lady?

  9. See Ms. Duncan's profile on the website for City of Mount Vernon, New York. She is no slouch! A lawyer too! Watch out boys!

  10. I'm all for bringing someone in from another area. She won't have "connections" locally and maybe she'll have the desire to change things!

  11. Give me one good reason the chirf should not be a lady... What makes a man (using that term loosely) any better at this type of position?

  13. Althought here may be a few local candidates who would be good for the job, this person will bring much to the table. Give her a chance and the knowledge and experience she has will shine through. Joe is from NY, she can't be that bad...lol

  14. A lady should not be a police chief because it contradicts the term and meaning of "lady".

That does not mean a female human being should not be a police chief.

  15. She must be a yes woman. I do not know how you feel but what an expert we have in this mayor. A school teacher making these decisions that take for ever with no confidence in any local experienced people. I blame those who voted for him.

  16. You know I thought Tilghman was bad... Ireton you are a complete idiot, and you will be accountable for your stupidity.

Lets see, we hire and idiot from Baltimore because they have a handle on crime there, yeah... Where is he at, only handle he had was how to take the city.

NOW we hire someone from New York, yep they have a handle on crime there. I bet she has it all figured out. I bet Paul and Charlie are drueling over the opportunity to buffalo this chief in thinking they know their job.

MAYOR IRETON - you need to GO!

  19. Some will NEVER give a woman a chance in a high powered position. That's just the way it is, not that it's just wrong!
These same people are probably the very ones complaining all the time about how crime has gotten out of hand in Salisbury.
I say if she comes in and cleans up - good for her, good for the council and good for Ireton!
If she comes in and turns out to be another Webster, well then we deal with that if we get there.

You are so right. Fruitland was about to hire a woman as city manager until the attorney convinced a majority they shouldn't hire a woman to manage the town. Thats discrimination! The woman should sue!
