Moving Islamic Center Will Spur Extremists

The imam behind a proposed Islamic community center and mosque near ground zero cautioned Wednesday that moving the facility could endanger national security.

NEW YORK — The imam behind a proposed Islamic community center and mosque near ground zero cautioned Wednesday that moving the facility could cause a violent backlash from Muslim extremists and endanger national security.

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf told CNN that the discourse surrounding the center has become so politicized that moving it could strengthen the ability of extremists abroad to recruit and wage attacks against Americans, including troops fighting in the Middle East.

"The headlines in the Muslim world will be that Islam is under attack," he said, but he added that he was open to the idea of moving the planned location of the center, currently two blocks north of the World Trade Center site.

  1. It seems to me that this is just another way to tell us that they are going to do what they want to do. It really sounds like a threat to me. Like it or not Islam is invading the U.S. at a very fast pace. They claim that they are devided from extremists and they support the extremist . Islam and ALL Muslims are devoted to their religion , they state that all religions except Islam will be their enemy. Anyway , another threat by the muslim world!

  4. If the terror suspects had been christian, and someone wanted to build a church, my question is, would there be all of this opposition to build a church there?

  6. The idea of endangering the soldiers is hilarious!

They are soldiers for Pete's sake!

If anyone can take care of themselves it should be the soldiers. Of course they had a hard time of it in Texas when one of their own attacked in the lunchroom. But hey, Im pretty sure they are ready for AlCIAduh'. Besides our soldiers are the ones hunting them. How about a little game of Peek-a-Boo?

Maybe we should all burn some books and bring Osama out of hiding in that cave. He could roll out his dialysis machine and throw a sacred hand grenade. Then, our elite special forces could get a good crosshair on him.

That's it! Everyone meet up at the public park for a little book burning. We could finally get these wars finished.

  7. Just goes to show you the building of the Mosque at this location is more of a monument for the Muslims to promote their supposedly victory / superiority instead of for religous purposes. They should practice tolerance like they want everybody else to do towards Muslims. How stupid are the people of the US to believe this is a religous building. The US better smarten up and learn their opponent and their beliefs / tactics. That is Military Tactics 101. We are being out flanked quickly.

  8. this is blackmail at its best. MOVE the mosque. remember the bibles that were taken by our service men and women to iraq? well the arabs got in a snit and demanded the bibles be destroyed. if you forgot this; take a look at the drudge report today and see the picture for yourself.
think about this. we can't even have a bible in an arab country. what's wrong with this picture???

  9. Well, now that I know that moving the mosque will offend terrorists, let's keep it right there. I would hate to get on their bad side. NOT!

If we change our actions just because people might attack us, that means they win. Screw them!

  10. what country is this again? I could have SWORN I went to sleep in a free America that affords ALL of its citizens religious liberty under the constitution.

and PLEASE don't try to compare a group wanting to build a legitimate worship center with a group wanting to burn literature out of spite. Once again the world watches as Americans take the low road...

    pathetic.
