Auburn Standout Set to Debut for ‘Birds
Hickory, NC - The Baltimore Orioles announced on Sunday that Orioles fourth selection in the 2010 First Year Player Draft, Trent Mummey, has been promoted to Delmarva. He has joined the Shorebirds in Hickory and is in the starting lineup for game two of the series against the Crawdads.
Mummey signed his first professional contract on June 24, 2010 after being selected in the fourth round (118th overall) by the Baltimore Orioles.
The 21-year old was immediately assigned to the Aberdeen Ironbirds. In 49 games, he hit .266 with three home runs and 24 RBIs. Mummey was named to the New York-Penn League All-Star Team.
The Pinson, Alabama product played his college baseball at Auburn University. In 2010, Mummey hit .366 with 17 home runs and 54 RBIs in just 36 games. He also stole eight bases in nine attempts. Mummey was named First Team All-SEC. He is also a two-time member of the SEC All Defensive Team. Mummey committed just two errors in his final two seasons with the Tigers as the everyday center fielder.
For his three-year career at Auburn, Mummey hit .315 with 36 home runs and 119 RBIs.

Mummey is the first 2010 draft selection to join the Shorebirds.
