According to the Dept. of Education, enrollment in for-profit colleges has exploded in recent years, growing nearly 500%. Last year alone, students at for-profit colleges received more than $4 billion in Pell Grants and more than $20 billion in federal loans. With all that money floating around, the Government Accountability Office was asked to investigate -- and their findings will probably not please taxpayers.

These Colleges should be cut off from all Tax Payer funding immediately. This includes all monies that have not been received on monies awarded. That way maybe this money can be given to students who really need the fincial aide.
ReplyDeleteIts about time those programs had some oversight.I have heard recipients of Pell Grants talking about getting their "checks" and spending them like tax refunds.Some people use these grants to skate thru school so they dont have to actually work.Especially the ones on public assisitance who have to go to school or else lose benefits.I heard one student say as long as they kept a C average they were "in the money" getting a free education and checks to live on.
