Newlyweds Rachel and Ryan Rettaliata adopted Siberian husky Bear Bear two years ago after its first owner abused it. Now, after the 3-year-old dog was shot and killed at a dog park Monday, the Rettaliatas' house is filled with memories and reminders.
Rachel is left with the painful of memories of her beloved pet's last breaths.
You could clearly see the bullet wound and the blood saturating his fur, she said. It was really devastating, and shocking, and hard to see him like that.
Bear Bear was shot at about 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Quail Run Community Dog Park in Severn, Md. Rachel Rettaliatas brother, Stephen Kurinij, was watching Bear Bear and let him off his leash inside the park. Then another couple arrived with their dog still on its leash, and Bear Bear got excited, Kurinij said.
The guy told me, 'You better break these dogs up, better get your dog,' Kurinij said.
But before he could do anything, the man, who was an off-duty federal officer at Ft. Meyer in Arlington, Va., whipped out his gun and shot Bear Bear, Kurinij said.

No charges filed? Of course not! lets see how much publicity he gets compared to Michael Vick. When a Marine tells you that there are three different types of laws in this country, (laws for the people who make the laws, laws for the people who enforce the laws, and the laws for us),you should listen and believe it.

Federal Officer or not...he had not right to shoot and kill this dog. Not even giving the owners, who knew the dogs personality to take charge of thier pet. How does this man react with a little child or children play wrestling, do he shoot them too???
ReplyDeleteIf the dog attacked, there should be evidence of that----that should solve it all-----No evidence----that should solve it all!
ReplyDeleteThe owners of the dog that was shot should contact a lawyer, it is against the law to shoot a pet for no reason. The owners need to file a lawsuit against the agent and also against the agency he works for. Law enforcement officers need to be held responsible for their actions just like all other people.
