Folks, keep in mind, your answers will do a LOT of people a lot of good.
You see, Insurance Companies do NOT want this kind of information out there, yet in this economy it's important every one shares it so we can all come to learn where we should be.
With one company I have three vehicles on one policy. A BMW, PT Cruiser and a Pickup Truck. All of these vehicles cost me $550.00 every 6 months.
It may also be important to mention what year the vehicle/s is/are and what kind of policy you have. Liability, full coverage and so forth.
After comments go up, Insurance Company phones will ring off the HOOK!
FYI with the invention of "Insurance Scoring" aka credit rating you can have the identical vehicles, age, coverages with different rates. Keep that credit score up!
Richard: We pay $208.00 per year for a 2000 Harley FLHT Electra Glide (No collision), but you might want to try Foremost with Oceanside Underwriters (JR Lloyd).
Toyota Highlander, No driving record/accidents in 10 years. $60/month OR $720/year. Once we add second vehicle and get multi car discount, this vehicle will drop to roughly $45/month. We also have Home Owners through them and it is pretty inexpensive also!
$ 433.70 twice a year. But what does that tell you? I have BODILY INJURY LIABILITY EACH PERSON/EACH OCCURRENCE $100,000/$300,000 PROPERTY DAMAGE $50,000 LIABILITY PERSONAL INJURY PROTECTION $5,000 UNINSURED MOTORISTS BODILY INJURY $100,000/$300,000 $50,000 EACH PERSON/EACH OCCURRENCE PROPERTY DAMAGE - LESS $250 DED COMPREHENSIVE $250 DED COLLISION $250 DED EMERGENCY ROAD SERVICE FULL RENTAL REIMBURSEMENT $30 per Day I also have not had an accident in 5 years. Policy's are written by the way we drive and the amount of coverage we want or which is required. I am with the Lizard GEICO .
2008 Honda Civic 4 door, full coverage, $250 deductible, $696 a year from State Farm. I should mention I have multiline discount also because I also have homeowners insurance with them. I am a 35 year old female who has never had an accident (if that matters)
Nationwide - 06 Saturn Vue - Female 45-50 - no points - no accidents - clean record (Delaware) 950/year Nationwide DOES base premium on credit score - atleast in Delaware - it's reviewed every 3 years. During my divorce they reviewed mine and it was bad so they hit me with a surplus - after my divorce they surplused me again for 30% because I was "divorced". Now remarried - 17 years later and do you think they lowered me back 30% OR gave me back the surplus discount because credit score is over 800? NO!! I still can't find anyone to beat their rate though. I shop mine every 6 months. Also have a homeowners policy on our home with them - that basically did nothing for the rate because they said "well, the rates have increased". BS!
'07 tahoe, '98 ranger, '01 neon, '76 cougar; 1-49 male, 1-44 female, 2-19 males; no accidents, no tickets $4400/year with Nationwide; time to change...(I went with Nationwide originally because I knew and trusted Ed, but with the office change and skyrocketing prices, time for a change)
No accidents, no tickets, 37 (CDL licensed driver) and 33 yr old covered drivers. We also have multiline discount because we have home owners ins. with them as well.
2001 Chev Liability: 372.60 year 2002 GMC Full Coverage: 600.36 year 2003 Nissan Altima full Coverage: 717.84 year 2003 5th Wheel Trailer Full Coverage: 300.96 year 2005 Boat Full Coverage: 385.92 Year
I am 44 years old, no accidents, no tickets. My coverage is with State Farm.
If anyone else has insurance where it is cheaper please let ppl know. I do know I was at Nationwide Insurance (Ed Wilgus) and I was paying ALOT more money for insurance.
We have purchased a car for my family including parents and in-laws. We have 14 people using the same car because of lay offs. 1.1992 olds. 4 door 2.liability only 3.$75.00 month
each person driving pays $5.50 month- all drivers are over 25
I'm 61 years old, white male, divorced (the only driver) with no points or accidents in over 25 years living in Delaware. I changed companies 2 moths ago from Liberty Mutual to 21st Century because Liberty Mutual jumped me about an extra $59.00 a year for no reason at all bringing yearly total for 2 vehicles up to $956.00. Went shopping on the internet and got the exact same coverage as I had originally. Least driven is a 2003 Ford Excursion 4X4 V-10 loaded with full coverage minus $500.00 deductible. Secound vehicle 1996 Mercury Sable station wagon highest limits liability only. 21st Century only will cover for a six month period. Total for 6 months $315.00, so that will be $630.00 a year vs $956.00. A saving of $326.00 a year. Worth my time for sure. I also shopped motorcycle insurance as my 2003 Suzuki Burgman scooter has over 20,000 miles and worth less than $2,000 so I dropped full coverage with ?? (Don't remember which company about $350.00 a year) and got lower liability limits (liability only) for only for $100.00 a year. You can find it all on-line with some of the compare insurance sites. I know the changes are not earth shattering but every penny helps. And last they ask you to name your present insurance carrier, don't do it because they'll shaft you with your own information. They have a spot for "Not listed". We've all got to help our elected officials in Wash D.C. with their retirement pension funds paid into and through A.I.G. Insurance that would have gone down the tubes without the Obama prop-up junker clunker program. Fresh new auto bank financing and plenty of full coverage insurance. The real reason, I believe for such a waste of taxpayer dollars. Remember, that was your money he gave away. Good luck shopping. FredG
State Farm, been with them over a decade now. 1 vehicle with liability,1 with full coverage and collision, plus a hefty renters insurance policy cost me about 1k a year. My insurance actually went up by a hundred bucks this year and i dont know why because my newest car is 12 yrs old. What gives?
10:21 plain and simple, its a harley. Just like I always tell a policyholder, it costs more to replace/fix a mercedes over a ford anyday. You are paying for the name. It also depends on what coverages you have and how much your deductibles are ect.
10:36 Also credit scores are used to determine what kind of risk you would be to the company. we use that to rate you as an individual. If you dont have enough responsibility to pay your bills on time and keep a good credit score, it makes us believe your not a responsible driver who cares about what happens to their vehicles or others on the road. bad credit score = carelessness
$1800 per year...2009 Suzuki C50T full coverage, 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan full coverage, 1997 GMC Yukon full coverage, 1994 Chevy Astro Van liability. State Farm..Married couple 47 and 48 yrs old..no auto claims for 15 years
2010 Honda LX Civic State Farm (45 yrs) - $427/year multiline discounts; accident free low mileage annually $300K/$100K liability $1000 deductible comprehensive $500 deductible collision no passengers over 18 without own driver's license/auto insurance
Raising your deductibles make a huge difference! Put the savings in the bank until you have enough to cover the difference.
Not carrying passengers without own auto insurance makes a nice difference.
I also carry an umbrella liability insurance policy to supplement the more expensive auto liability and protect my financial assets in any other circumstances as well.
Blutothetotmom---if your newest car is 12 years old you should consider dropping the collision coverage. You will save a lot of premium and the adjusters aren't gonna give you squat if you total a car that old anyway. My agent is Tina at Mann & Gray in Fruitland and they shopped with about six companies to get me the best rate! (I used to be with Nationwide).
$500 per year for full coverage. $250 deductable for collisions, $0 deductable for comprehensive claims, $50 tow reimbursement per tow. 2003 Saturn. 55 year old driver with no driving record and rated for pleasure driving only. Ohio Casualty Insurance Company.
Thanks 7:32 my current agency has excellent customer service so I probably wont switch but I have considered dropping full coverage.Only issue is that the last time I dropped F/C on a vehicle I must have "jinxed" myself,it was wrecked within a week(thanks big deer),talk about a bummer.
3:47--So, based on your theory, the economically strapped are bad drivers, while the financially sound never have an accident? I'd like to see some research data to support that theory. Why don't we call a spade a spade? It is simply another excuse to make more money from those who can't afford to pay it in the first place. I am recently divorced and my credit score has plummeted. I work full-time and now have a part-time job to get back on my feet. In 23 years of driving, I have never had an accident or even a ticket. If anything, I drive even MORE carefully now because I cannot afford another car nor the cost of repairs. It should be illegal to use a credit score for anything other than issuing credit. And last time I checked, the insurance companies were still cancelling policies if they weren't paid. You can attempt to justify it any way you like but it is still just another excuse for companies to extort more money from consumers.
