Lakewood, NJ – With the tying run at second, Josh Dowdy induced a roller to the mound off the bat of Alan Schoenberger to lock away a 3-2 Shorebirds win at FirstEnergy Park on Monday afternoon. The Shorebirds become the first South Atlantic League team to win a series from the Lakewood BlueClaws this season. Ty Kelly and Kieron Pope paced the offense with two hits each.

The Shorebirds plated two runs in the fifth inning. Garabez Rosa connected on a double to deep left-center field to score T.J. Baxter and Brian Conley hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Rosa.
Justin Dalles recorded an RBI sacrifice fly to deep right field in the eighth inning to give the Shorebirds a 3-0 edge.
Lakewood battled back in the ninth before Dowdy came on to secure the win. Leandro Castro and Jonathan Singleton each notched run scoring hits.
