On the agenda for next week’s meeting of the Salisbury City Council is approval of presentation to Mr. Webster of the pistol (a “Glock”) that he was issued while the Police Chief. Assuming that he shows up at the event, it may be your last opportunity to see him in the Government Office Building, unless he is still going there to get his severance “pay.”
It is common practice for the City to give retiring career police officers their pistol, and apparently Webster is considered a career person because he was on the force for about 10 years.
Wonder if it will be one of his "drop guns"???
ReplyDeleteDamn, that sucks... We all know that he probably never used it since it was probably just considered an accessory item to his daily wore suit and tie! So He pretty much gets a brand new .40 cal Glock 23 pistol!? $700 gun for free when other officers could actually USE it!
ReplyDeleteWhy is the city giving him gifts and medical disablity pay when he is running for sheriff in Somerset County? And how can he be a Sheriff if if he is disabled and being paid for it? Is that not double dipping?
ReplyDeleteLOL 11:21 I was thinking the same thing!
ReplyDeleteThe Gun He never used.
ReplyDeleteAnother stupid city policy. Why give them a gun when they retire, why not a plaque or a watch? This is another example of improper use of taxpayer funds. This gun will have to be replaced - at what cost? Do firefighters get a fire engine when they retire? Or Paramedics an ambulance? They were the tools they used to serve the public, so why are they any less valuable? Just another example of why we are in the taxpayer hell that we are in.

ReplyDeleteshhhh dont mention giving away fire engines and ambulances.. that will be on the agenda next month now!
Should he win, and I think the voters in Somerset are smarted than that or at least they have the opportunity to show that they are, I wonder if he will work with the various local agencies better than he did in Salisbury. Way too arrogant to hold a position like that. Take his Glock and go hunting. One would think that the support of Mike Lewis would be a definite asset to any candidate. Do you think Mike will give him that support???? jackkcharl@aol.com
ReplyDeleteI disagree with this silliness as well, but just to clarify, LE doesn't pay $700 for a g40. try $300 or less.
ReplyDeleteJoe.. can you find out if he can legally keep his medical retirement if he is running for a position that requires him to be a certified officer? And if I am wrong in stating that please feel free to correct me. I agree with the above comment, it's double dipping and it's not fair to the tax payers of Salisbury if he happens to win.
