A Comment Worthy Of A Post

I'm looking at a Thermometer in the GOB reading 93 degrees right now! I don't mind the heat outside, but this stagnant hot air inside the GOB is a breeding ground for sickness and disease. All we get is an email from Ted Shea at 8:30 this morning suggesting that we wear lighter clothes.

To all you people saying "suck it up" or "you're lucky to have a job":

The GOB AC has been on and off over the past month and today is the first day that we were notified of what the problem really is. We are the last to know things; just like we found out about our life insurance situation through the paper and not the P.O.S. P.I.O. -this is how our local government leaders treat their employees, doesn't it make you wonder what they think about you, the citizens? If the walls of the GOB could talk the would first ask for a glass of water because it's so damn hot and then they'd ruin some political careers!

  2. Sorry to hear about this hot situation at the GOB. Things will get worse for all workers , including local government. Please try to recognize that our economy has gone south , that means the whole country , not just Salisbury. If you have a problem with this call your congress person and do it many times. Save your pennies , you will need them .

  3. 3:28....the ups and fed ex drivers knew/know what kind of job they would have when they started there...when you sign up for an office position you dont expect to be stuck in a building when its 100 degrees....grow up you big sissy. if your hot, get outta ur ups/fed ex truck and go get an office job...just not at the gob

  4. FedEx and UPS? Are you serious!? They sign up for varying conditions and dress appropriately every day! When you work in any office environment you expect reasonable working conditions. In fact, i'd rather be outside than in a 94 degree office any day!

Ummmm... I am pretty sure that Congress does not deal with turning on AC in local government buildings... but hey... good luck with that.

While you're at it, please let Congress know that the Subway restaurant on Salisbury Blvd. is out of Italian herbs and cheese bread.

  7. This is just the beginning of an eternal hell on earth....wait until next year this time. The Sheriff's department will be riding cattle and shooting bows and arrows(if it is still there), 911 system will be tin cans on strings, and the Mucus package will be one giant hocker that the Finance Director has hocked up.

  9. It is understood that the City of Salisbury has many different departments and they are funded differently...BUT...why is it that many City employees have not seen raises in years, the GOB has no A/C on 100 deg days (although I'm sure the Mayors office does)and fee's are increasing on everything, yet the sanitation department just purchased a 50 inch flat screen t.v. for their break room? I mean that money could have gone to fix an A/C, give some employees some kind of raise. Yeah, Yeah I know they say they needed it for training purposes...training tapes/cd's can be seen on a smaller screen..I mean come on...We need to work together here!!! Someone with authority stand up and SHOUT...WTF!

  14. 5:58, you said a mouthful! If the good people who know what it means to be a public servant weren't trampled on by the high and mitey ego trippers, both the city and the county would be much better run!

  15. 6:34...
you seem to be the only person with any common sense on this!! SUCK it up people...when it is cold outside you are going to complain about that too...that is one of the problems with america, the people here are NEVER satisfied with anything, and they think they always DESERVE better! Our Troops are putting their lives on the line to give freedom and independence to people like you who have nothing better to do with their time than complain! It makes me sick!

  16. So, Pollitt can pay Fineran to do nothing but no money to fix the A/C -- wtf?

A flat screen TV does not come out of operating budget. Your salary does. If you are asking the taxpayers to pay higher taxes while they are unemployed so that you can get a raise, good luck. You and many others may deserve a raise but that's simply not how things are set up nor does the current leadership offer a path out of this situation.

  18. Or, come to wcdc central booking and feel that 65 degree temp. While everyone else is burning up outside, the newly committed inmates in central booking are enjoying their air condition cell. The staff are freezing to death. But of course, who's whinning.

  19. 634 The employees didn't sign up to be soldiers but given all the heat but with all the bullying from rotten ass teeth people the responses they have to deal with it is similiar.

  20. Hey Joe, I just went up stair to the council room in the GOB and it's cool as a clam in there! It looks likr they don't care if the employees suffer but as long as the executive's office and mayor's office is feels some cooler air then that's ok! I believe that planning commission meets today, go figure!

I'm not a HVAC guy but isn't running that dedicated unit for the council room (i assume its a dedicated unit) to cool the whole third floor of the GOB put a lot of stress on the unit? Looks like we might be paying for a new AC system there too!

On a side note, Mr. Pollitt was not spotted in the GOB yesterday and has yet to be seen today! Looks like he can't stand thr heat in more ways than one!

  21. in the private sector, we have ac problems to... honestly, get over it. Meanwhile, I'll be thinking about your suffering when you retire with full gov't benefits at the ripe old age of 40 and the rest of us poor civilian saps are working until the day we die to pay for goverment expenses.
