At 9PM last night, the book closed on filing for elective office in Maryland. It’s a pretty big book too!
There were a few surprises…
On the local front, Wicomico County Executive Rick Pollitt has not one, but TWO primary opponents. Conservative Wicomico councilman Joe Holloway has no opponent at all. In District 38B, there are FOUR Republicans vying for the two slots to replace outgoing Del. Jim Mathias (who is running for the Maryland Senate in District 38) and incumbent Del. Norm Conway. Probably the biggest shocker is the number of individuals filing for the GOP Central Committees in both Wicomico and Somerset.
Here are the lists of candidates:
Eastern Shore Senate Candidates
Eastern Shore House Candidates
ALL Local Candidates in Maryland
All Statewide and Legislative Candidates in Maryland
NOTE – there will be some changes. Local central committees have 10 days to nominate candidates for any office where there are open slots.
G.A. - Thank you for this post. It is most helpful.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting Joe. Sorry to see Carl Anderton is not on that list.
ReplyDeleteThe Wicomico Central Committee needs to find a good candidate to run for States Attorney. Talk to some of those working in the SA's office. Liz Ireland, Dan Dougherty etc. Ask some in private practice. There has to be someone to run against Davis and Seth Mitchell.
