Indian River -- The Department of Transportation (DelDOT) advises motorists, cyclists and pedestrians that DelDOT's Bridge Inspection Team will be conducting an above-water inspection of the existing Indian River Inlet Bridge structure during the week of July 26. The inspections are conducted yearly and are part of ongoing measures to ensure the safety of the current bridge until its replacement is completed.
The inspections will occur on Route 1 southbound on the bridge on Tuesday, July 27, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and on Route 1 northbound on the bridge on Wednesday, July 28, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. During these dates/times, there will be intermittent lane and shoulder closures on the existing Indian River Inlet Bridge along Route 1/Coastal Highway, as an Under Bridge Inspection Vehicle is used for the inspection.
This work is weather contingent and if it rains the work will occur on Thursday, July 29.
