Where Do We Go From Here

Last year we delivered a message saying there would be incredible changes to Salisbury News. We said we would start advertising, we delivered. We said we'd have an on line news show, we delivered. We also said we were going to tone things down and we delivered on that as well.

The focus for Salisbury News is to deliver real time news and information ahead of the MSM and we've delivered that as well.

The back and forth bickering with other Blogs & MSM needs to end. Therefore I am going to be the first to not only say we're going to drop that completely from Salisbury News, we'll deliver on that promise.

The focus needs to be more positive and that's what we're going to do. We're going to take the "high road" and deliver you a more pleasurable place to come and get updated on what's going on here on the Eastern Shore and important information that affects us around the world.

I want to thank so many of you for calling, sending text messages, photos and e-mail messages. For the most part I'm a one man show. As we continue to grow each and every day, my time becomes that much more in demand. Because the community keeps us informed and up to speed, it allows me to focus on being close to the computer to deliver that real time news and information YOU help us deliver.

As for our advertisers, we're extremely pleased that their businesses are doing so well. Their support has been overwhelming and I can't thank them enough. That being said, I want all of you to know that there is a master plan to focus on giving back to our community. We want to take a portion of our advertising income and make donations back by "Paying It Forward" to those who need it most.

By advertising with Salisbury News, you too will be participating in making donations to local causes. I call it, "GOOD MONEY AFTER GOOD MONEY." Together we can bring something positive and let me show you how we plan on doing just that.

Throughout the month of July, Salisbury News will be selling our "YOU'VE BEEN BLOGED" Tee Shirts at Mr. Curly's in Salisbury for $10.00 each. ALL profits will go to the Wicomico Humane Society. We have sizes, Large, XL & 2XL available and if we sell out, we'll order more. They will be available tomorrow and we may have a few other locations selling them as well, we'll keep you posted.

Each month we will try to find a cause to continue this program, so whenever you see someone wearing these shirts you'll know their donations went to many of the local non profit organizations.

So let's all work together to rise up and make that positive difference and hopefully encourage others to do the same.

  1. Gee whiz, Mr. Albero, I sometimes shop at Mr. Curley's for my husband. What about us females who wear small and extra small? Many females shop there on behalf of their significant others. What about medium?

  2. I'll get on the phone and order small and medium as well.

  5. Joe,
You do a great job and spend alot of time on this blog. The impact that you have made on local government and crime cannot be measured. Your a life saver when it comes to animal rights and their safe return to their families when they get lost.

All in all you do agreat job. The only thing I believe you need to do is get back to basics. Stick more to the City of Salisbury and whats wrong here. Stories about New Castle county and their crime has no meaning here. Its worlds away to us. I want to know when there is something that our City needs to fix or is doing right. I want you to expose the ills of Salisbury such as the Thrift Travel in and prostitutes.

Quite frankly Joe, this is the only way anything will ever get done about it here in Salisbury. When you speak, City Hall not only listens they jump. Thank you for all you do for the average citizen. I'm a fan. Keep up the good work.

  6. Glad to hear this Joe. You provide a wonderful service for all of us out here; we know where to go to get the news and have known for quite some time. The higher road is sometimes not easy but I'm glad to see that you have chosen it. It's like you tell the kids when they are growing up, always choose the difficult right over the easy wrong.

  7. Joe, this post and all the comments are SO refreshing!

  8. I am glad to hear this. Is there any way we could read postings and comments with no cursing in them? It's very distressing to me. Except for that, I like reading this blog.

  9. Very glad to hear this -- sounds like a great plan.

Speaking of Thrift Travel Inn -- it appears to be back open?

  11. Joe, you are truly an asset to this community. It will be another star in your crown. (Stop blushing)

  12. Joe, Thanks for taking the high road. I know it has to be very difficult at times to repeatedly listen to the threats and nasty comments, particularly against your family. I know it has to be be hard not to rip these people a new butt. If you need to vent, that's okay too. A person can only take so much. You just remember that you have a large following and there are people who are very, very grateful for what you do every day. You get the news out like no one else. We may not always agree with you, but that's the beauty of having a blog. You allow us to voice our opinions and debate topics. We laugh together and sometimes cry together. Thanks Joe for allowing us to have a voice. Beth

  15. To take it from 95% perfect to 100% you would only need to remove all the bias against anything Democrat.
I know that most of your readers follow your political views and slant, but there are a few of us who are interested in Salisbury news and politics who happen to be non-Republicans.
Just a thought...I'll continue to check in and will just skip past the red stuff as I always have.

  16. You've "delivered" on taking the high road? Really? With all the embarassing and childish temper tantrums you've thrown. Don't give yourself a gold star for that just yet Joe.

  18. Kudos to you Joe. I applaud your hardwork.

Yes, the interblog bickering is starting to make all of you sound like little school girls. Thanks for taking the first steps to end it.

Please step up the quality of coverage on the national/political news. I enjoy enlightened debate, but the outright false posts and fearmongering turned me off of this blog for a while (but you see I couldn't stay away)

Great coverage of local news, keep it up.

  21. Proud of you Joe!

Those of us who know you personally have been saddened when you allowed the nay-sayers to pull you down. We all know what they are - but not everyone understood the kind-hearted, generous person you are.

Removing that negativity from your life and your blog is the right thing to do.

    The sky is the limit!!!

  26. anonymous 11:34, go back to the home page. In the top left hand corner there's a search bar. Type in fireworks and click on search. You'll get the information. I will be there.

  27. Joe, Glad you are going to be at the fireworks celebration in our neck of the woods. It gets bigger and better every year. I'm so glad we have an alternative to Salisbury and Ocean City.

  28. This web page does such an excellent job of covering news not just about Salisbury but about all of Delmarva. I think its time, as you move forward, to change your name to Eastern Shore News or Delmarva News...

  29. Joe, this is a good move. The negative stuff is not what most want out of SBYNews.

  30. It has been a long time coming, but you have now shown that you do possess the intellectual capacity to participate in positive dialogue and concentrate on issues without the personal attacks.

Hopefully this will last, and will ultimatley lead to expanded readership in my opinion.

SBYNews isn't critical of just Democrats; it's just that Democrats, being in power and doing such a poor job of it at the moment, give a blogger and MSM, if they would do it, a lot to be critical about.
    Signed,
    A Conservative Democrat

btw: The high road policy is a good move. Keep it up.
