SBYNews learned that the individual killed in this afternoon's crash on Route 50 at Sixty Foot Road was Wicomico County Deputy State's Attorney Sam Vincent, 52.
Also in the vehicle was Lee Britt, Wicomico County Assistant State's Attorney. Britt was taken by ambulance to PRMC for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
Vincent took the position of Deputy State's Attorney in 1987, closely following the election of Davis Ruark as State's Attorney. A lifelong resident of the area, he graduated from Wicomico High School in 1976, Salisbury State College in 1979, and the University of Maryland Law School in 1983. He was the prosecutor in many local high visibility court cases in recent years, and was a staunch advocate for stiffer penalties for those committing violent crimes involving guns.
Sampson Vincent was an incredible indvidual and friend, as well as phenomenal advocate for Wicomico County. A rare person...he will be greatly missed. Love you Sam.
ReplyDeleteI think we need an overpass there.
ReplyDeleteI know this is off subject but I just voted for you for Favorite news personality in the Metropolitan best of issue. I find myself looking at SBYNEWS for the news more than the other 3 big sources. Here I get the news but I also get the feel of the story from family members and those that have reported incidents like this.
ReplyDeleteEric

No greater person of integrity, no one with exemplar skills and innovation. Sam always led by example, always provided sound advice and was more committed than 98% of anyone I ever knew. After nearly 25 years in law enforcement, I promise you Wicomico County....he will be GREATLY missed. Thank you Jill and family. It was truly a privilege to know Sam. God bring peace to your family!!
ReplyDeleteWow! I know whoever is always saying Joe is commenting on his own sight under ananymous is wrong. I am not Joe. What I said is true. If I want local news I go here. Sorry to burst your bubble. Hey, but thanks for the compliment.
ReplyDeleteI did not know Mr. Vincent but was at the scene of the accident today just moments after it happened. The moment I saw him I started praying for him. My heart goes out to his family, friends and colleagues.
ReplyDeleteSam, thank you for being in my life. For being a great male role model. Your service to this community can't be matched. It will take 3 people to do what you did daily. Sam did this with pride, class and style that no other could match. He was the person who would always hold the door for you, always ask you to go first, the opitomy of a gentleman. On top of that he was the best prosecutor ever, handling the majority of the major cases because of his incredible dedication. Sam thank you again for being who you were, an incredible person. RIP

ReplyDeleteMy heartfelt condolences to the family of Sam Vincent. He would have been one great States Attorney. He had my vote the minute I heard he was considering a run for the seat.
ReplyDeleteQuestion. Who will now do Davis's work to prepare a solid case for the Foxwell family?
