Have you heard anything about the new ems and fire territories in Somerset County? A letter was sent out to all affected residents I believe. Basically, Princess Anne and Marion vfds are forcing Pocomoke and Allen out of responses in Somerset Co even though they've covered those areas for years and are many miles closer. Just thought you might find that of interest. The change went into effect on 6/1/10.
are allen and marion just gonna let those companies take all of that money from running the calls that they have always done in the past; thats BS
ReplyDeleteHmmm..let me think about this...Who CARES!!
ReplyDeleteAllen is in Wicomico County and Pocomoke is in Worcester County....so...as a tax paying citizen of Wicomico County the Allen Volunteer Fire Department should have never been covering calls in Somerset County without being compensated. If it was up to me I would shut down the Allen Volunteer Fire Department anyway. What a waste of precious tax dollars.
excuse me, I live in Allen and the fire department is needed; I pay Wicomico County taxes every year on time in full, if I have a fire I want the fire trucks to be at my house to fight the fire and not have to wait until Fruitland or good old Salisbury comes from the new route 50 station
ReplyDeleteEden/Allen is in Wicomico, Somerest and Worcester County
ReplyDeletewicomico needs a county wide ambulance service. hasnt allen fire 2 also providers for not doing their job properly which caused death. and what about the kid working there that calls the bunk room his "love shack" he needs to go work for salisbury.
ReplyDeleteEden/Allen is zoned Wicomico....get your facts straight.
ReplyDeleteAlso I have heard that Marion and Allen were being cut from calls only as 2nd due or more. This being they rarely get out on the street and if they do its with so few members that it was a waste. So yes I have to agree Allen VFD is a waste of tax payer money.
ReplyDelete10:55-
ReplyDeleteThat "KID" vollies for Salibury already.
The kid is Greg Fries. He volunteers for Salisbury and is employed by the Princess Anne, Allen, and West Side fire companies.
ReplyDeleteHe has the maturity level of a 3 year old, and it is just a matter of time before he kills someone too.
If he responded to my home, I would take my chances and refuse treatment, then find my own way to the hospital.
I would put Fries up against almost any seasoned veteran in the the EMS. I have worked with him on many occasions and the boy is on it. He is 19 and finishing Paramedic school...Sounds to me like you could not make it in the paramedic program...By the way i am also a paramedic and have been for 15 years, so dont tell me i dont know what i am talking about.
ReplyDeletekinda hard for marion they hardly get out on a call
ReplyDeleteMoney? Who cares about money? I've never met a volunteer firefighter that cared about money because they get sooooo much of it to be a VOLUNTEER! The issue is response times to assist the public in the event of an emergency. Why would you want to wait for a fire truck or ambulance to respond an extra 10 miles or more when you have one only a couple miles away?
ReplyDeleteIf you had an even had a minor clue what you were talking about, you would know that these companies were compensated for their EMS calls, no matter where they go. They still bill the patient for their services, and make it well worth the trip.
ReplyDeleteAs far as Sby, they don’t have enough to cover their own district, let alone anyone else’s.
The rest of you are just either clueless or jealous.
Sorry 3:11 you're right...We as the general public DON'T CARE who gets paid what to repond to our emergency...I only care that they respond quickly from the closest station and are appropriately staffed, which Marion and Princess Anne are notorious for NOT doing for calls they have already been handling. That's nothing to be jealous of at all.
ReplyDeletethis is all so ridiculous. you people no nothing about what you're talkin about! fries is a great medic and has went far in his life for his age and made something of himself! and as far as Allen goes..they were closer to the area they got kicked out of!! who cares what county! they could walk from the firehouse to the territory that p.a. took over faster then p.a. could drive there!! that's neglect to those residents by delaying them closest care! if JR and other p.a. members cared about their patients and residents they'd do what's right! buncha freakin idiots!
