Say It Ain't So

Hey Joe,

In addition to principal changes, I hear the BOE is going to rehire Tom Field, Alan Brown, Charlie Bounds and Bill Cain on a part time basis to share the job of Assistant Superintendent of Administration. That's the job that Bill Cain is retiring from in June.

Say it ain't so! Can you find out?

Update: I was able to confirm that the board voted on this in its public meeting yesterday. After advertising the position and salary range, no satisfactory candidate was hired. The board voted 6 - 1 to hire the 4 retirees for one year on a part time basis. Mrs. Holloway voted no saying it was not an effective or efficient approach to fill one executive management position with 4 people.

A Daily Times reporter was in the meeting when this was voted on yesterday, but you heard it here first, folks!

  1. Yes Joe. Please find out. The people should absolutely rebel if this is true. I am sick and tired of the same free loaders on my back. I'll lead the fight.

  3. Tom Field, Alan Brown and Charlie Bounds are great people! In my opinion, they would be very good and could end up saving money to boot!

  4. 8:13 - Which board member are you?

  5. I hope they are sharing the salary. I say give them each $10 per hour for the hours that they work. They can pull shift work.

  6. There are 4 people & there are 5 days in a week - who are they going to get to cover the 5th day. Mr. Middleton or Dr. Boston

  7. There is something wrong with a system that does not bring local employees along so they can fill positions like this.

  8. The position is being rewritten to one-half a day for a four day week, which will save the BOE the salary of three days a week.

  9. They're waiting until they can put Moses in the position...BIG MISTAKE

  10. 8:18 I'm not a board member; just someone who personally knows each of these people and know they've worked very hard for the WBOE for decades. They know the inner workings and would do a fine job. I wish them well

  11. If 9:03 is correct, then it's accurate to say that the full-time assistant superintendent for administration post held by Bill Cain was not necessary in the first place? And 8:13, did you purposely omit Mr. Cain from your list of "great people?" He must also be great if it will take four people to fill his shoes.

  12. 9:04 - I so hope you are wrong about Moses. What a disaster in the making. Real piece of work, that one.

  14. When the good old boy appointments of a good old boy superintendent get approved by a good old boy board of education, you know you're home.

  15. I head Moses wants to run for County Council, too.

  16. You go Robin Holloway. You are the best thing to happen to the BOE and I know you are out numbered. Keep up the good fight, though. That Wright girl has got to go. She is a turn-coat. What a disappointment that girl is.

  18. Michelle Wright is a turn-coat POS. I can't stand to hear her ramble on during those meetings that go on and on for ever. I truly think she just wants to hear herself speak.

  19. Nothing like discussing and voting on hiring an employee with the employee sitting in the room during the Board Meeting.

  24. Bill Cain is lazy and worthless. Likes to disappear from his job site and is really a do nothing. Having 4 people fill one job is a joke! And pay them all benefits too? And how many offices will they need? And who will know who is doing what? Who's on First? What?? this concept makes us sound so backwards in our town. I'm embarassed!

  25. 12:52-I don't think they will get benefits. If have to so many hours to receive benefits plus I think they already received medical benefits in their retirement package-I may be wrong-wouldn't be the first time.

So tell me Einstien how many hours to get medical benefits? Jim Ireton the wannabe Mayor for the City of Salisbury is working less than half time as a school teacher and making full time benefits with the Board of Education. Can you say THIEF!!

  28. 10:38 Who was in the room? 12:52 They dont need benefits. As retirees they already got them. Moses is the director of HR. She is rude and ruthless and hated by everyone in the central office but we need our pay checks. If those guys were doing a good job Fredericksen wouldn't have even been hired in the first place. I know for a fact that BOE employees were working on Mr. Cain's fence and playing in Fredericksen's band during the day. When it wass reported Frederciksen and the board did nothing. They just cover up and rubber stamp so mark Thompson can get his job. Ms. holloway is the only one with the balls to stand up to the BS that goes on. It's sad what goes on. No wonder taxpayers are fed up.

  29. Its been said it is because Dr. Fredrickson hasn't prepared a budget yet, or just doesn't know how.
Now they are hiring more people to do what he is getting paid to do?
    WTF!!!

  31. Joe, please list the members of the Bd. of Education with phone numbers and mailing addresses so we can communicate with these morons. They need community input. We certainly did not have the opportunity to vote them in office. Thank you.
