Money Down The Drain?
Wouldn’t it be nice to be paid for hours and shifts you didn’t actually work? It was apparently a reality for some of the District’s Department of Public Works employees.
An internal audit found the agency can’t account for millions of dollars in overtime, according to the Washington Examiner. How do you lose track of all that money?
According to the Examiner, the DPW relied on a “trust”-based system, and instances like this certainly don’t help: one worker allegedly got her supervisor’s password and changed the time sheets of her sister, spouse, and another employee.

Remind you of any other departments of public works? Wonder if the outcome will be the same as with WCDPW: County executive declares "no stone will go unturned to bring these people to justice", no recovery of lost items or cash restitution, tiny jail sentences for just one or a couple of people, a couple of underling firings(but with no loss of benefits), DPW head claims no knowledge but very quietly steps down and disappears from the area, County executive never says another word about the whole affair.
ReplyDeleteThere's more of that than you think thru out ALL GOVERNMENT departments.
ReplyDeleteD.C. government , has been crooked since Marion Barry and still is!
ReplyDeleteAfter all , it's a culture thing.
1013-Not only did the department head quietly step down, he was given a job at the State of Delaware and good references. Same with The Detention Center Lead.
ReplyDeleteRick left alot of stones unturned and kept a few on staff in order to gain a couple of snitches from within. It's who's who in the County. You gotta be able to read em to know em.
