The Board of Education's annual auction will take place at the original James M. Bennett High School starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 10.
The school system is now in the process of collecting any surplus equipment and furniture from the old James M. Bennett High School building for the school system auction.
The Wicomico County Board of Education will offer to alumni (and their guests) of James M. Bennett High School a final opportunity to walk through the old school from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, July 8. Those who take the tour will also have the chance to preview the auction items from JMB and throughout the school system.
The July 8 tour will be the last opportunity for former JMB students and guests to walk through the building; it will be closed in preparation for demolition later this year.

A word of warning to those who went to JMB and have fond memories of the building...
ReplyDeleteIt has already been torn up pretty good... it is honestly hard to see completely empty classrooms, celiing tiles missing, debris piles. If you have fond memories, this is not a tour you might want to take.
It is also spooky, because some flyers and posters are still on some walls... very eerily looking.
you mean to tell me that some of these auction items could not be used elsewhere in the school system or by city/county roads????

ReplyDeleteNo that might make sense. Besides, then they'd have too much money to spend...
