Found Dog Off Old OC Rd. & Zion Church Rd.
This dog was found at approximately 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2010, wandering in the road at the intersection of Old Ocean City Road and Zion Church Road.
Since Animal Control and the Human Society are closed on Monday, I have taken the dog to my house until I can either each Animal Control, find the owner, or figure out some suitable resolution.
I have four dogs of my own so I won't be able to keep this dog at my house very long.
If anyone knows who owns this dog, please call me. I can be reached by cell phone at 301-788-4611 or at home, 443-944-8124.
Susan
I saw this dog. He lives in the blue house right across the street from the Perdue plant. I think its a blue house. I saw him when I drove by about that time but he was in his own yard.
ReplyDeleteThis dog is Sure Lucky he was rescued by you & that he didn't get run over!!!!
ReplyDeleteHas he been allowed to run free or was he inside a fenced area when seen by you 4:46?
Looks like he could sure use a good grooming too!
First let me say thank you, Joe, for posting this information and for all you do to reunite pets with their owners. I followed up on the posting from 4:46 pm. I went to the blue house, but it wasn't their dog. They thought they knew who owned the dog but when I went there all of their pets were accounted for. Apparently, the have a small dog that looks a little similar. I knocked on several doors of houses across the street from the Perdue plant, but no luck. If anyone thinks they know who owns this little dog can you please ask them to call me at 301-788-4611 (cell) or 443-944-8124 (home). I'll be keeping the dog overnight but will probably have to turn it over to Animal Control when they open tomorrow. Thanks to all who are "on the lookout" for the owners.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't find the owner please let me know (410-422-9851) before you take it to H.S.. My Mom is looking for a small dog, since she lost Peppie. Thanks, map
ReplyDelete9:03 - That would be a wonderful addendum to the sad story of Peppie and your Mom losing him. I've prayed for your Mom and maybe this is just what she needs.
ReplyDeleteTo MAP: I called and left a message for you. I called the Animal Shelter and so far no one is looking for this dog. They suggested I take it to them or to my vet and have it scanned to see if it has a microchip. I will be doing this shortly. I am hoping you will see this message and call me. I must do something with this dog this afternoon. I've got it in a shady place with plenty of water but there is the possibility of storms this evening and I don't want it to be left outside if that happens. And, unfortunately, I can't bring it in my house with my four dogs, one of whom is handicapped. My cell is 301-788-4611. Thank you. -- Susan
ReplyDeleteAfter going door-to-door, checking in nearby stores to see if someone posted a missing dog sign, searching Internet postings, and numerous phone calls, I ended up having to take the dog to the Humane Society. Hopefully, the owner will come forward, but so far they have not received any calls from someone looking for this dog. They think the dog is a Lhasa Apsa. It is a male, and it has not been neutered. Maybe there will still be someone who sees this and knows where the dog belongs. If not, I pray he will be adopted. Although he was a little nervous at times, as one could understand, I felt he had the potential to be a good pet. He did very well on a leash and seemed to be very comfortable walking with me. And I felt I was beginning to gain his trust. I only wish I could have kept him, but it just wasn't possible with the dogs I already have. Thank you again, Joe, for allowing this forum to be a mechanism for helping pets find their way home. And thank you to those who called and those who offered suggestions as to where the dog might belong. I heard speculation that maybe someone turned this dog loose, since it didn't seem to be very well taken care of. I sure hope that isn't the case. But, if that is true, maybe the Humane Society will help him find a loving family. I think the little guy deserves that. (And, in case anyone was wondering, MAP left me a message and, unfortunately, her mother is not in a position to be able to take the dog.)
