The Daily Times reported the cost to repair and upgrade the Waste Water Treatment Plant, (WWTP) is between $50,000,000.00 to $60,000,000.00.
Let me start off with my own personal comment about this matter. Why Paul Wilber hasn't been fired over allowing the City to sign a $1,000,000.00 liability clause with the former Contractor is so far beyond my scope of thinking, clearly Mayor Ireton knows absolutely nothing about business or he's so far to the left he's just that stupid.
Former Mayor Barrie Tilghman should be put up on charges as this scam has got to be one of the most suspicious forms of BS I have ever come across in my lifetime.
We had been told the cost of the last upgrade was already $84,000,000.00 and you've already felt the beginning impact of your water and sewer rates skyrocket. Imagine adding another $60,000,000.00 to your expenses!
It begs the question, is Salisbury worth it? Perdue already got slammed with water and sewer increases that would normally cripple any other business, can they afford another one? Linens of the week took a hike. The Micro Brewery told the City where they could shove it. Will Realtors tell the TRUTH when someone comes to live in Salisbury and share with each customer just what they can expect to pay for upcoming water and sewer rates.
You can point a finger at a few people for this mess. Barrie Tilghman, Paul Wilber, Gary Comegys, Lynn Cathcart, Shanie Shields and Mike Dunn. How's the Democrat Party working for you now people!
Just wait until the city discovers the County has usurped their role with new County package plant systems. The city was expecting a significant increase in new development to support the new upgrade. Now Jim Ireton doesn't want any new housing in the city, only commercial business, and the economy has vaporized practically all new development. This will be interesting....
ReplyDeleteRealtors tell the TRUTH, if thats where we are were screwed.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget GI Johnny Jacobs, the former city public works director, in that rogues gallery
ReplyDeleteJoe,
ReplyDeleteThe total numbers of actual real world business experience, in years, represented by the city council during the last administration was ZERO! The total number of years of actual real world business experience, in years, represented by the current administration is ZERO! Politics in the city of Salisbury is a fantasy world where the upper Wicomico river is the next "inner Harbor" and the local children swim through the crystal clear waters chewing special gum allowing them to remain underwater for hours at a time. When in reality the river, like the city politics, is a cesspool! Real world business experience says the City of Salibury is one flush from being in financial ruins that will take decades to reverse.
I agree. Perdue jumps ship its over.
ReplyDeleteThis city , county , state and country needs radical change. It is so far off base that civil war is the only way to get it back in shape. Lawyers should be first on the agenda.
ReplyDelete"On time and under budget" remember those Tilghman and Comegys claims? The two council members with business experience, Cohen & Campbell, were dismissed and villainized by Tilghman and the council majority when they did anythign to stop this trainwreck. And, yes, Paul Wilber needs to go.
ReplyDeleteThere needs to be an independent investigation done.
ReplyDeleteHey, Salisbury is a finalist for "All-America City" status.
ReplyDeleteWhat a joke that would be!
Paul Wilbur probably did try and stop this mess.....no one was listening I bet.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like it goes far beyond mere incompetence....as with so many other thing that our representatives do, if you or I, as private citizens, ran our business or bank accounts like they do WE WOULD BE IN JAIL! So why isn't anyone in jail yet?
ReplyDeleteWest Side Wisdom, you are not quite right. Both Debbie Campbell and Terry Cohen have worked in the real world. Mrs. Campbell just got accepted into an elite Harvard program on housing. Do any of the dolts in city government listen to her? Not a chance. Mrs. Cohen has worked with big corporations and works in computers. Unlike the dolts you mention in city government, she does math, but do any of the dolts listen to her either?
ReplyDeleteDolts!

ReplyDeleteGreat question!
Did someone say realtors tell the "truth"?
ReplyDelete11:10-
ReplyDeleteSure he did. He's an engineer when he's not a lawyer, right?
The people I pity the most are the people that actually work at the wastewater plant. They probably had little to no (I'm betting no) input on the project, but they are left having to deal with the mess.
ReplyDeletewhy is the city attorney still there? what does he have on jim?
ReplyDeleteIt's time to get rid of part timer Jim Ireton!!
