The Wicomico County Council just agreed, (by a majority) to reduce the County Executive's Office Budget by $60,000.00. It seemed pretty clear the reduction was to remove the PIO position, (Jim Fineran) but Rick Pollitt can do whatever he so chooses with the $60,000.00 reduction.
The Council Members that approved it was Gail Bartgovich, Stevie Prettyman, Joe Holloway and John Cannon.
I hope this is true and the PIO is eliminate.
ReplyDeleteRINO John wants to get the support of the Republican Party to support him for re-election.
ReplyDeleteI think they should cut his pay by $60,000. He's wasted at least that much while in office so let's take it from him.
ReplyDeleteGood for us!
ReplyDeleteThat money should be given to get the RSAT Program up and running again!
ReplyDeleteKudos -- it's about time to clean house at the GOB.
ReplyDeleteThat man Fineran is a waste of tax dollars.
Score one for SBYnews!
ReplyDeleterick is wasteful, remember he hired a new building inspector in these slow times. by the way it was a buddy of his. waste, waste waste! we will rember you next election.
ReplyDeleteWho is it?
ReplyDeleteThe decision was the right thing to do, not a republican vs. democrat issue. Fineran takes up space. Period.
ReplyDeleteWatch Rick get rid of the coffee makers instead. I know one of the secretaries there are overdue for retirement.
Jim is nothing more than Rick's security blanket.
The council has a lot more fat they can cut; this was a good first step. If MacLeod wants to represent the people, he should do it. If he just wants to represent big government, he should resign.
ReplyDeletewhat about the executive office associate????? Is the position really necessary? I mean it takes several months for her to post minutes to the website.
ReplyDeleteRick better not plan to return to Fruitland! You planned to at one time, don't think about it now Bozo!
ReplyDeleteJim has always been very much a gentlemen but this isn't about Jim. This is about slim pickins and the executive's office needs to feel the cut as well as the people. Maybe Jim could stay and Rick retire Ted Shea. Now that sounds like the best idea yet.
ReplyDelete5:18, not to be argumentative, but I happen to know that the County Council Administrative person posts minutes to the county website. Also, it takes atleast a couple of weeks because minutes from one meeting cant be posted until they become approved after the next meeting.
ReplyDeleteWow, $60,000 savings, now we only need to cut $20,940,000 dollars to balance the budget.
ReplyDeletei know macleod, nice guy but completely out of touch with reality! really, would you want your senile uncle running your finances?
ReplyDeleteI know everyone in Rick's office - personally and professionally. I will be sorry if any of them go.

ReplyDeleteEvery little bit helps, and getting rid of the "PIO" is more than a little bit!
They should give the money to the Sheriff's office .
ReplyDeletePat on the back to Gail, Stevie, Joe and John.

ReplyDeleteJim will stay.
Rick will cut somebody out like June Sargent who islooking for a buy-out
a
They are all good people in Rick's office. Unfortunately, it is heavy with salaries and the council should have cut deeper. $175,000 - $200,000 would have been more appropriate.
ReplyDeleteThey should pose for a picture just like that but in any funny fast pose they choose real quick. Politicians should show their personalities, even if its just for fun. Everybody needs to laugh at themselves sometimes, and laugh with others sometimes as well. It does a body good.

ReplyDeleteI agree was this another friend of the family or relative?? Was there any Secretarial background when hired??
How about Matt Creamer? He should never have been hired back.
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean the members of the council will vote for the budget or will some vote against it because of this? Inquiring minds can't wait to see how this plays out. Also, can't wait to see where the 60,000 cut will be made in the exec. office. Albeit, it should of been more dollars cut in his office. It's on overload.
ReplyDeleteThe sheriff's department has been cut over $600,000 and Rick's in the paper today whinning about his $60,000 and calling it "dirty politics!" How low can he get???
Hopefully this will be the beginning of more cuts. I am sick and tired of certain County employees who feel entitled to net a big salary with nothing to show for it. Joseph Arthur is the perfect example. I am a local developer, and while dealing with him I asked him "Son, are you an engineer?" He said no. I thought, then why are you working in the public works department as a County Engineer? His lack of experience and judgment cost me money and time.
