Stu Leer Responds To Mayor Ireton

  1. I used to rent from that man and Stuart Leer was by far the worst landlord I have ever had. The man couldn't care less about the house until it came time to move out and then he wanted to charge us for all the things he ignored over the years. He was terrible. I mean terrible!

  2. Do these landlords think were stupid or what. Come on Stuart, you can do better than this. I am not that naive.

  3. Leer needs to learn how to spell "responsibility" if he's going to scream it on paper like that.

I think Ireton is wrong and I think Leer is wrong. Ireton should handle people better and Leer should handle properties better.

There are many things on that list that Leer was not responsible for, but there were many that he was.

  4. I would llike to see a "list" of thigs Mr Leer is responsible for.Sometimes renters rent a place thinking is is a NEW structure. They did not rent something is NEW and yes there will be problems with older houses. I have heard from many renters that when they have a legitamate problem it is taken care of. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Want something new cough up the money for it. The renters need to take PRIDE in keeping the property as they found it and that includes the outside grounds as well.

  6. 11:27 I am a property owner of a commercial property in the city of Salisbury and have been for over 20 years. We have been here long enough to know what is happening. My name is NOT Adams. We know Mr Leer and he is a hardworking person. Stop complaining and do some cleaning and upkeep. The landlord is not your maid or butler.

  7. when are people going to be responsible for there own actions. i guess it is leers fault that his renters call the police that are to serve the public. i guess it is leers fault that there is trash on his property from tenants. i guess leer has to baby sit all his properties like kids in a day care and clean up after them. why can't people be respectible, responisble citizens.

  8. 11:45 Believe me, I too own properties in the city and the county for 40 plus years. I visit my properties and ask my tenants if anything is needed. I have never had the police called to any of my properties and dont belong to any association. I am accountable and so are my tenants. I have committed long term folks who have pride in their dwellings. I have never had to return less than the whole deposit to any of my tenants when they vacated the property. I suggest you look up responsibility in the dictionary or better yet remember the landlord creed "Honor Thy Tenant And They Will Honor My Property". This is the principle and belief that I rent by.

  9. Please Joe dont cross over to the "dark side"(landlords)......Alot of us regular everyday people have had nothing but a headache dealing with them.I have not had personal dealings with Leer but I have heard way more negative than postive things.

  11. Bluto, in this town, people will side with the Devil Himself just because they want to do in somebody.

Unfortunately for Joe, the landlords intend to use the hell out of him for getting their man Comegys beat.

Ireton is blowing a valid point by being sloppy, but this new all pro-landlord thing on Joe's blog with no accountability for them shows the rumors are true.

  12. Dear tenants of salisbury:

Be responsible for your own destiny. Get a job, cut non essential expenses (cable TV, cigarettes, alcohol, lotto tix, dining out, cell phone, etc.) and save enough money to purchase a home. Landlords are like bosses....very few people like them but they are unwilling to do what it takes to have neither.

  13. Wow, I had no idea that in Salisbury, Md. you could sign up as a landlord, and receive a badge to fight crime as well. Hopefully, the landlords will be able to solve all crime problems within the year( shouldn't be too much of a challenge since, per Mayor Ireton, it appears the landlords are the ones who created the problem, right?!) And the best part is, they will be able to justify collecting their rent checks, since Mayor Ireton seems very concerned that Mr. Leer still collected his rent amidst the problems at his "Slum Property." Reality check, the reason a community experiences a high rate of crime is not due to landlords not "policing their property." The crime is already in the community whether it is living in a rental, the local shelter, on the side of the street, or in the neighborbood right next to you. It is easy to take a firm stance on a problem by hidng behind an email, blog, or post such as the "Slum Property of the Week," but unless this town and it's counsel choose to work together to not only fight crime, but revitalize Salisbury; we will continue to see heavy crime, and a negative reputation.
Just one last thing....will the Mayor still collect his paycheck if he does not live up to everyone's standards?
