Moreau Fans Seven Over Four Innings In Game Two
Charleston, W.V. – The Delmarva Shorebirds and the West Virginia Power split a doubleheader on Tuesday night at Appalachian Power Park. The Power took game one 8-3, while the Shorebirds won game two 6-2.
In game one, the Power plated five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 3-3 tie. Maurice Bankston earned the win, while Matt Hobgood was pinned with the loss.
Nathan Moreau retired 12 consecutive batters in game two following a lead off walk. He struck seven batters over four hitless innings.
The Shorebirds got on the board first and never trailed. Tyler Kolodny hit a two-run homer in the third to give the ‘Birds a 2-0 advantage. Brian Conley connected on an RBI double down the right field line in the fifth to push the ‘Birds in front 3-0. In the sixth, the Shorebirds plated three more runs to build a 6-1 edge. Michael Ohlman delivered a two-run double to right-center field.
Randy Henry and Josh Dowdy finished off the Power in the final three innings. Henry earned the win in two innings of work.
The Shorebirds play the series finale on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. RHP Jesse Beal makes the Shorebirds against RHP Kyle McPherson.
