another sick B**ch who needs to be put away forever........
ReplyDeleteWhat a sick woman...poor little girl...her own mother! Makes you wonder what else she endured in her lifetime with her "mother". So sick.
ReplyDeleteWTF is going on around here?!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd yet she will likely get less of a punishment than a man would... I hope not. This is sick.
ReplyDeleteYour kids are not safe anywhere. Home-school your kids and keep them safe!
ReplyDeleteRon, a sex offender is a sex offender. In fact, NOW the law states, (if convicted) she'll spend a minimum of 15 years in jail.
ReplyDeleteThat's disgusting. That poor little girl.
ReplyDelete"(if convicted) she'll spend a minimum of 15 years in jail."
ReplyDeletenot true, there are so many "conditions" that have to apply for her to get the minimum that no one will ever be held to that minimum punishment.
1:39... this is a case where home schooling would not have protected the child!

I'm glad the laws have been changed now Joe. Thanks for all you and all our local people have done to get the laws changed.
ReplyDeleteIf this woman really did this, I pray that she gets the maximum. She has other children too and may have very well committed other abuses against them. I hope it all gets checked out and the children are protected and find healing.
http://www.wcboe.org/schools/ese/grade/Fourth_Grade
ReplyDeleteShe looks so damn normal in her school picture. You can't trust anyone these days.
1:59, home-schooling wouldn't have protected the child in this case, your right. However, this woman was involved in the daily lives of many other kids and who knows if she would try to pull something with one of those kids?? You think your child is being taught by decent people, and in fact, there are monsters like this working in the school system.
ReplyDeleteAnd this woman teaches our children. God help us.
ReplyDeleteJoe, traditionally in the teacher sex scandals I've seen female teacher after female teacher get less time then men get. I hope you are right on this as that is the way it should be.
ReplyDeleteI grew up with this girl in Princess Anne. She was pregnant by a local cop before the age of 18! There has been repeated reports of physical abuse against this child. At one point the grandmother was raising this young child. Why was given this child back to the mother???? What does this say about the local CAC? They should be investigated!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLast, how did she stay in the WCBOE as a teacher with her background?????? Did you see the Maryland Judiciary case search under her name? Wow, WCBOE really dropped the ball on this one.
incredibly sad. I know candace and if this was her daughter (she is 13) i'm shocked. I believed candace had turned her life around. She had struggled with drugs and had found jesus and was happy with her career. If true, she needs help...and a lengthy jail sentence.
ReplyDeleteThis is just SICK!
ReplyDeleteI do hope the new laws passed will put this woman and all the other pedophiles away for a LONG time.
I hope that the prosecutors office doesn't even try to plea bargain on ANY of these cases and if they do, they need to be removed from their jobs just for attempting to do so!
No one has spelled out the facts in this case. No one knows what the story even is. Innocent until proven guilty....remember?
ReplyDeleteIf she did something that was unnatural to her child then throw the same book at her as you would anyone...male or female. Until then, let the law run it's course.
Judge not lest ye be judged...
Ron,
ReplyDeleteBut remember, she is not charged with abusing a student. This was her own daughter. Sick!
If the post hadn't said she "admitted" to it, I would have questioned this whole thing. I have seen times where a kid calls in and tells lies on the parents to "get back" at them for something. This happened to a close friend of mine. The kid later admitted to making it up. Yes, you can't trust people nowadays but sometimes you can't trust kids either!!!! I hope this woman gets the punishment she deserves.

No, but the point is well taken. How many other children may have been violated by that sick pig!!
Another lost Angel. Our society, or should I say part of our society is sick. Bet the mother was an abuse victim as well. No excuses its just what seems to cycle around.
ReplyDeleteWow, 2:06
ReplyDeleteWhy is a person with a record like that teaching in our schools.
how many baby daddy does dis pig have?
ReplyDeleteWHAT A SICK ASS B----. OMG HER OWN CHILD... IAM ABOUT TO THROW UP..MY grandchildren attend that school.... Lock her ass up forever and never let her see a child again.. What in the Hell is going on around here with these teachers..
ReplyDeleteDon't the BOE do a criminal background check on teachers before they hire them? She's got quite a long list of previous arrests that date back long before she ever became a teacher. How did this person slip by to be an example for our children?
ReplyDelete2:32 in this case being a teacher doesn't matter, this wasn't a student she did it to, it was her own daughter...max is needed in this case!
ReplyDeleteYou guys keep calling the people "sick", I told you before
ReplyDeletethat sick people take medication and get well. She is bad , a bad person. Lawers love that term "sick" , when most of the lawyers are bad people too. They will try to get anybody off for the right price. BAD is the word!
WOW!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnyone that knows this girl she is troubled. When she was young im saying around 15 or 16 she was in a relationship with a princess anne police officer who was way above her age.Infact she had a kid by this officer.I think the officer lost his job.
Some of you should read the entire article...this did NOT happen in school and it was her OWN CHILD, NOT A STUDENT. It is horrendous, no matter who or where, without a doubt. My question is, why did WBOC (Delmarvanow.com)not mention that it was her own daughter she abused on their site this afternoon? It seems to me they are trying very hard to slam educators in every possible way. It is horrible that she did it, but her occupation has nothing to do with it.
ReplyDeleteI hope she gets the maximum sentence allowed by law. How can these mother's hurth their own children???
ReplyDeleteI pray this isn't true. Candace has changed a lot since her troubled past. She is a good teacher and mother. God knows the truth. God bless all
ReplyDeleteI think this is the same person whose daughter has mental problems.I believe the daughter lived in Princess Anne with the grandmother before the grandmother became ill and could not care for her anymore. If it is then the mother should be given the benefit of the doubt because the daughter is unstable and on meds for her bi polar condition. The daughter was always running thhe streets of Princess Anne and having sexual relations with the neighborhood boys.
ReplyDeleteDid she used to teach at North Laurel??
ReplyDeletePublishing identifying details like "biological mother" shows that you have no regard for the victim's privacy. If so much as one person discovers the identity of the victim, then you have personally added to her suffering with your reckless and irresponsible coverage of this tragic story.
ReplyDeleteI know this young lady and her family. I knew Candance had issues with temper but never ever thought this was going on. Candance must get psychlogical counseling. Her daughter must have psychological counseling. I have read that child sex abusers were sexually aused themselves.
ReplyDeleteThere appear to be two Candace R. Piankas according to the Maryland Judiciary Case Search website: One African American and one Caucasian.
ReplyDeleteThe Caucasian has traffic violations and a series of domestic disputes involving child custody, support and an ex parte order.
This sick crap has been going on for years.I think more children are coming out about it and are realizing that it is not there fault that these people are just sick. The news has been putting it out there so we our aware. I think we as parent need to talk with our kids and keep an eye on the sex offender list. We need to keep telling are children that it is ok to tell if they see or if something happens to them. We may not be able to prevent this from happening, but hopfully we can get atleast most of them off our streets. And this is not just happening on the delmarva it is the whole world.

Excuse me, but I am bipolar, and on meds, and living a completely normal life. I would never say someone was abusing me unless they were. Just because you have a mood disorder doesn't make you untrustworthy. Bipolar also doesn't make you delusional. That's along the lines of schizophrenia. The girl is probably "running the streets" because she has no father figure at home, as an escape, or god knows what. But seriously. Get a clue before you get on here spewing s*** like that. It AMAZES me how women who are victims of crimes like this are always blamed, be it physical or sexual abuse.
Richard Christy any idea how she could work as a teacher with her history?
ReplyDeleteShe was probably sexually abused herself.....that doesn't excuse this though. I am so glad that I didn't send my kids to that school...and I live right behind it. Really this could happen anywhere and to any child...it didn't have to be hers, it could have been one of ours. So I'm glad I take the extra time to take my kids to school outside of that district. The whole school system in Wicomico County is so divided and screwed up, but that is a whole different story.
ReplyDeleteTHE BOE HR Department should be liable as well. They should peridocially do background checks. Our laws make it more difficult to be a daycare Provider. Shame on the almighty Dr. F and HR Director Stephanie Moses for NOT DOING THEIR JOB!!!!!! They should be fined and held liable for allowing someone of this nature entrusted to our children. Just look at this woman's background. Let's hold the higher ups responsible too!!!!
ReplyDeleteUGH
ReplyDeleteWhat happen with background checks? No shocker though, there isn't drug testing for teachers either. You have more background and drug testing to work as a hostess in a resturant than a school.
ReplyDeletePerhaps MS. Moses background and morality should be looked at also.
ReplyDeleteThe Daily Times posted the article on the front page because it's sensational. Teachers and preachers are particularly fodder for this type of treatment. Had it been Mrs. Jones down the street, we would never have known or cared.
ReplyDeleteLet's just suppose for a minute before our desire to put her in jail forever. The Daily Times story quoted Ms. Pianka as saying that she was trying to show her daughter how "to pleasure herself." For sure, it is inappropriate for a mother to do this with a 13-year-old. However, if the comments about the girl are valid (and we shouldn't be trying her in the media), she was by no means a sheltered 13-year-old. Could it be that the mother was trying to deter the child from engaging in promiscuous behavior that could be very damaging?
As a father, I had "the talk" with my teenage son, but I would never have done more than that. It's just not appropriate. However, would it rise to the level of criminality as portrayed here? The Grand Jury will have to deal with that question.
My concern, however, is how Ms. Pianka got to be hired to teach, given her record. Did the BOE research her record? It is easily available to anyone on the 'net. Some of the items listed should have precluded her from working with kids.
There just might be more to the story than meets the tie. I guess we should stay tuned.
for all that have commented, i know the family personally and i would not be so quick to judge when you do not know the entire truth about this mother and child. some are corect in the facts and that when this mother was a minor, she was taken into police custody because of a parent child conflict and this princess anne poice officer took it upon himself to abuse his authority, sexually, as a result this mother became pregnant.this is our good ole government officials in princess anne. the saga continues, somerset county dss was involved with this child several years back and they did nothing to ensure this family received and followed through with the mental health services that were needed to address the issues. in fact, somerset county dss recently was invovled for the past year and half and they have done nothing but make a mockery out of child protective services. are they not mandated to ensure this child's safety and well being.no they are only good at "passing the buck", "putting a band aide" on the problem and moving on to their next case. the grandmother, the mother and mental health providers all told somerset county dss that this child needed to be placed out of the home yet the only thing dss could offer was respite care- a fortified weekend babysitter. why dont you all call the maryland state police, the princess anne police and even the Governor's as THEY ALL know what has been going on! they know the truth and so will you all!
ReplyDeleteShe had muggys baby when she was 18. He was a princess anne policeman who lost his job over this. She has always been a troubled girl who was always sleeping around. Her 13 yr old daughter was starting down the same path and according to the DT wanted to teach her to use the toy to pleasure herself instead of sex. This girl should have never been alowed to teach and needs mental tests.
ReplyDeleteHow come when a woman does something wrong people talk of the how they were probably sexually abused? Men who abuse children are also the victims of sexual abuse many times. I didn't hear anyone say something like this about Thomas Leggs. As for the background check, WCBOE does a background check BEFORE you are hired. What you do afterward might never come to their attention. This is probably another example.
ReplyDeleteThe WCBOE HR Department can't investigate too far when higher ups have issues :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing the "inter-connections" amongst staff members and unfortunately the destroyed marriages.
I will say that I am a teacher and yes they do a state and a federal background check...you are allowed to have traffic violations and paternity hearings and become a teacher (i checked the violations and they include nothing more) it seemed that she was involved in domestic violence as a victim and if she was the violator she was not convicted. Therefore, until now, why would she not be able to teach?? Many people are permiscuous both men and woman but I have never seen this as a question during the interview process!! I have not always been an angel....have you?
ReplyDeleteBesides....the statistics foir teaching is that 75% of new teachers find new careers within 5 years. Perhaps if teachers got paid for the job they do, there would be more of a selection???
Not to suggest that Candace was not a good teacher because she was in fact a wonderful teacher, dedicated, caring, and hard working...there are many sides to all people, even yourself!
She worked for Dorchester County at Maple Elem before coming to Wicomico. Dorchester took her out of the classroom for awhile when the charges of abuse came up around 2005 or 2004. Two years ago she was hired by Wicomico BOE. They should have checked her out then before they hired her. Clearly Wicomico dropped the ball on this hire.
ReplyDeleteI dont know exactly how BOE works, but I suspect that unless there are felony charges in ones background they are "cleared" for employment as teachers and all the court search stuff on this girl is civil/domestic related.
ReplyDeleteI just hope the child in question receives the counseling she will need to try and deal with the whole thing.
I work in Dorchester county and in fact worked at Maple with her, we left at the same time...I have never heard that she was taken out of any classroom for any reason, ever, actually! So as someone who is in the know regarding that, I can say the previous statement is false. Regardless of the current situation and what you may think I can assure you that she is an excellent educator ... I am praying for the entire family
