POLLITT DECLARES WAR WITH WICOMICO COUNTY COUNCIL

Rick Pollitt’s anger at the Council for asking for reasonable details about his proposed budget has boiled over into formal hostility. He is now publicly criticizing the members for their diligent action as the County’s legislative body. Elected on repeated promises of “transparency,” Pollitt is now exposed as yet another “don’t tell, don’t ask” politician in terms of how public funds are to be spent.

His tactic for responding to the loyal opposition is that perfected by Clinton and Obama and used for years by Barrie Tilghman (remember the “Dirty Dozen”): attack them in the media. Maybe Mr. Pollitt really does need a “public information officer” on his staff to tell Bubba, Barack and Barrie that there’s a new kid on the block.

  2. Why should Rick be transparent? That will surely ruin his political career in this County by proving how many times he has sided with the people and how many times he has been against the people (to try and benefit his self). We already know he believes in secrecy, "GOOD OLE BOYS", TAX TAX TAX, SPEND SPEND SPEND, as long as he has to do nothing against the Democratic / Liberal agenda.

  3. I hope Wicomico County voters truly are happy with Pollitt. Maybe they'll be so happy with him come election time they will turn him loose to graze in other pastures in the job market! As long as he is not in our government affairs we will be much better off. He has done nothing for Wicomico county except spend money which is the exact opposite of what this county needs.

  4. If I put down what I think of him you would not post it.

  5. 10:03, that is a good thought, but what good candidates or good Republicans have stepped up to the plate?

  6. I see accusations but no details. What specifically did he do?

He said they were wrong to question him for specifics.

  8. Maybe he will try once again to explain why he needs a public information officer. Each time it gets funnier.

  9. I know two good Dems but the party machine would never support them over Pollitt.

  10. I think the Dems need to consider other options. I know of one good man - business expert - who could win Rep votes too.

We need a hybrid candidate - who does what is RIGHT - not what is poltically expedient.

Just because Rick may be a "nice guy" is no reason to hang on to what isn't working.

  11. Council only needs to struggle with incompetence this one time more; next year it will be better with anybody else as County Administrator.

  13. when government does not have money, they need to get back to the basic and only supply the very bare necessities, and drop programs. It is a must. Some ppl will need to be laid off. Rick needs to do it do it now and Move on..... employees either need their furloughs back or need to begin to find other employment, they should not be hanging out in limbo (which is truly worse)

departments need to operate lean & mean, not spend all that is given.

the brd of ed, needs to cut back, layoff etc.... they too need to operate lean & mean and provide the bare basics, straight up education.

The state government is stupid for not raising taxes on alcohol which has not been raised in many many many years.

Government only gets money 3 ways , printing more which is never never ever good, selling bonds, and / or taxation.

ppl need to quite asking the government to pay for everything, and figure out how to take care of themselves.

ok i am done ranting and raving

  14. All I can say is Fruitland Police can afford LEOPS. Rick ran that show ??

The Council and Craemer have screwed the deputies of this county for years. The tax payers as well. This is a classic power struggle at the exspense of the people.

I do not give the council or Rick an "A" we are in serious financial trouble. They have all failed us.

Just look across the nation people are sick of incumbants. People are sick of politicians lining their own pockets, ear marks, and just flat out bias.

We do not need a hybrid. We need integrity, courage, ehtics. A person who actually worked for a living not a silver spoon politician, or Good Ole Boy.

I just hope the rest of the folks in this county are as sick as I am. I am litterllay disgusted with our politicians. The City council took a national ass whipping over their antics for years. The county quietly f*ed the people under the radar for so long because no one had an eye on them. No one in house could speak up out of fear of retaliation.

Those days are over with. Free men are sick of it. Americans are sick of it.

They are politicians not gods. We put them there,we can take them out.

  15. this is a travesty. rick needs to get ALL the details of the budget to the council AND post it online for the citizens of this county. how on earth can the council make good decisions without the details?
if rick refuses to do this we need ANOTHER referrendum to go back to the prior way of governance for our county. at least we got the info we needed each year. it was not hidden.

  16. Rick,
I am disappointed that you will be nice to all and tell everyone that you are going to do things. Then nothing happens. You can't be the nice guy all the time. You do have to be a man of your word though, please when you say you are going to get this done or that done, get it done, do it.

  17. Rick needed to declare war on those idiots 4 years ago.

  18. It is up to our local government officials to spend our money wisely. They know how to spend it, and borrow a little more if necessary.

Regular people are too stupid to spend wisely. Regular people would not realize the need for such things as new libraries and new fire stations. In the future we will understand why these gifted people spent our money this way. For now, we should simply acdept their benevolence and intelligent hand at steering this ship.

I say tax us more - and do good with it. We will simply waste our hard earned money.

Local politicians (like federal politicians) should meet in secret rooms of lodges and make the hard decisions about how much we should give them and how the money should be used. We are useless eaters and the sooner we accept then the better everything will be.

Pray for our leaders so they dont prey on us.
