  2. So the Zoo Staff gets screwed for yet another year while Lore' Chambers takes in almost $10,000.00 more. Jimmy, you just pissed me off and you realy do not want to do that.

  3. Jimbo is worse than Barrie!

  4. This is unbelievable!
Chamber is getting all that extra money? For WHAT?
That breaks down to $190.19 a WEEK increase and based on a 40 hour week at regular time, that's $4.75 an HOUR raise!
    That's unheard of!!!
And people wonder why we're all "against government employees"!!!!
Glad I don't live in Salisbury, or Wicomico County anymore and I NEVER will live in either one again, but it still ticks me off!

  5. How much does the lovely Lore make now -- judging by her wardrobe and shoes, way too much.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Nothing for the Village of Hope.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Ireton, our animals at the zoo are worth more than Chambers. You are a huge fool! You've pissed me off also.

Whats Chambers got on you? Must be big!

  8. Ha,Ha,Ha its never going to stop, associate to the administratiive associate?????? And the cops still make way less than they should. Jim you are way out of your league son.

  9. There are no raises in a depression, oh thats right not private sector. Differant rules apply, I forgot.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Why doesn't the City of Salisbury and Wicomico County spilt the use of the County's IT Department with director Ray Miccichi. The City and County pair with other departments like HR and its director Mike Thompson. This is crazy. Just another usless means of growing petty local government.

  11. Neighborhood services code enforcement officer, please tell me that position requires a state license of some sort.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Help WAS on the way. Got lost!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I guess nobody in City Government had kids that wanted a job at the zoo. With unemployment now reaching 9.9%, that could change in the near future.

Of course, this is only a proposal. It needs to be voted on yet? Get ready to count farts.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Seriously.. and rumor has it that the police departent is looking at furlow days!!! UNBELIEVABLE!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Are you kidding me? Isn't there a single fiscal conservative who can run for Mayor in the city?

    Ireton HAS to go!

    ReplyDelete
  16. A code enforcement officer making $50,000? WTF!!! They don't even require training, education or credentialing. Jim Ireton you lost your F#%&ing mind!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Lore Chambers is getting another $10,000 pay raise. Didn't she get a pay raise under Barrie Tilghman?

    ReplyDelete
  18. I believe that mare has smoked to many white owls!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. IT Director 90,000????
To do what for that amount of money?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Raises???!!! There are 8 million americans lokoing for jobs right now. Those with jobs should kiss their paycheck. Ireton's pixie dust has found it's way to his brain.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Help better be on the way... OUT!

What they H is he thinking?

    Had enough of this already.

This city...and county-is being run into the ground. Get me outta here.

  22. WTF I thought Chambers should be fired not rewarded. Ireton , put your pants on and take off your dress. You've pissed a lot of people off , do you realize the state of the economy? you idiot!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Move out of Salisbury , no more taxes , DON"T TREAD ON ME!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Jim Ireton you are not who we put in office. Many of us crossed party lines to help get you in office and you did nothing but lie to us. We made a mistake voting for Louise Smith and now you. God forbid we have to make another mistake voting for a deadbeat like you again.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I have a friend in the military bitching on Facebook the other day that he isn't getting a raise this year. As much as I love what our military does for us, I said, out here in the private sector, I've taken a pay *decrease* in the past year, and am happy just to have a job.

Public service is a great thing, but it doesn't -- or shouldn't -- mean you're exempt from the economy.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thats exactly what it means.

  27. Recall Ireton Now!May 7, 2010 at 2:40 PM

Neighborhood Services Code Enforcement Officers (4) $17,134

Is that each or divided by 4?

Even at $4,283.50 that is a significant pay raise for some of the laziest employees in the city. WTF are you thinking Jim Ireton.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Why would Ireton even put the zoo numbers up there when they are zero. It's a slap in their faces.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Anyone ready to walk a recall petition thru Salisbarrie?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Salisbury's best days are long gone. It will go bankrupt under Ireton.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Just think that we could -- make that should -- have elected Bob Caldwell last year, but instead got this Obamite.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Just heard that Ireton started screaming at a City Council meeting this week like a 3-year old brat.

    ReplyDelete
  33. How sweet it is -- we are once again the laughingstock of the state (and an "All-America city", too)!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Pretty soon Lore will be making more than Wilber!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Who is the "Community Development Director" and what does he/she do?

    ReplyDelete
  36. 1:53, The average median income for that position in the US is $155,704 according to salary.com

If you need to know what that position entitles try using google and do some research.

I'm not an IT person at all nor do I work for the county or city of Salisbury. But I can realize that in order to fill needed positions you have to at least make the pay comparable to the private sector.

I don't know what you do for a living but if you go to a 4 year school, study hard, and make good grades, maybe some day you too could be an IT director and make a better salary then what you are probably currently making.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm just going to flat out say it Folks, STOP VOTING FOR DEMOCRATS!

They're destroying America, it's that simple.

    ReplyDelete
  38. 2:55 PM - He's a good for nothing brat as a teacher, so why not be one as Mayor? This was a HUGE mistake and now, unfortunately, it is revealing itself.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hey Mike, this is the eastern shore buddy.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hey Doug, you are correct this is the Eastern Shore, good observation "buddy". Since the reference I used (Salary.com) doesn't have a "this is the eastern shore" button the only other reference to an IT director salary I can give you is the Ocean City Today. You can go to their website and search "payroll" and see Ocean City's 2009 payroll. Their IT Director made $121,735.40
    in 2009.

I'm tired of people whining about what other people make all of the time. If you want to make more than you currently are then choose a different career path and do what it takes to get you to that new position.

I was recently unhappy with the salary in the career that I had initially chosen (I was making around $45,000). I quit, went back to school, and will soon be making approximately $110,000. If you don't like your situation DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

  41. the mayor also hired an assistant, why? there are too many buracrats now. during the campaign he said he would make the city government smaller. maybe he should look up the defination of smaller. thanks sjd

  42. Joe, you heard anything on 2 SFD employees getting fired by Wannabe Chief Hoppes today?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who is getting tired of the "better than thou" mentality on here of commenters like yourself.
Some of us have done ALL we an do to get to the top of our profession.
It's not necessarily about someone making more money, it's the PRINCIPAL of this post!
You don't give raises, ESPECIALLY raises of this magnitude when the economy has not recovered from the last downfall and now is on the spiral AGAIN!
Hope that $100,000+ job works out for you but I wouldn't bank on it! Both of my daughters have masters degrees and are in the process of getting their PhD's but they no longer live here on the shore because there is no money to be made here!
So don't turn your nose up and look down on others just because you may be getting your "lucky" break! You have NO clue as to what other people have done so your high and mighty comment is nothing but RUDE and INCONSIDERATE!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Mike... If everyone followed your suggestion you wouldn't have a single police officer or EMT or firefighter of other much needed service men and women... Think before you speak! Everyone would like to make more money, but when you can't pay the people you have you probably shouldn't be hiring more or new!

    ReplyDelete
  45. the guy obviously wants to spend money.. other peoples money

But the roads are worsening tremendously.. but there is never any money for roads..

    joke of a mayor

  46. 1:27-The County did do the IT and HR functions for the city. A couple of years ago, the analyst from the County calculated what the city should be billed realistically for the services and the city did not like the answer. Why should the County fit the bill for city issues while the city is living high off the hog with newer furniture and equipment for their employees.

Also-Eastern shore has nothing to do with the IT director's budgeted salary. Face facts. You want someone qualified to do very specialized services, you have to pay the price. 90K is not unrealistic at all for that skill considering a good IT department can ultimately save the city alot of fund down the road if things a ran properly. Actually it is on the low side for an experienced IT director. What do you want for nothing....rubber bisquit.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Pay raises for the Neighborhood Services and Code Compliance people. WTF!! Hey Ireton, the career firefighters are the ones that supported you and endorsed you for mayor not them. Have you lost your marbles. They refused to support you for mayor. They were pawns for Gary Comegys and Barrie Tilghman. I hope the firefighters start a campaign to remove you from office. Nothing like biting the hand that feeds you.

  48. "I'm tired of people whining about what other people make all of the time."

This point is well taken. However, DELMARVA jobs don't pay what they do on the other side of the Ditch regardless of your education. My wife worked as an ER RN in the West and made DOUBLE what a PRMC ER RN got paid. She didn't complain but she did quit PRMC and headed West again where she can work less hours and get paid more.

    "DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT."

This point is well taken too. As I pointed out above, education isn't the only option. None of them are free.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Chambers get a hefty raise and the police are furlowed. Find someone cheaper to do the job and with a better attitude. I believe we are still in a recession. No raises and no news positions. Does that make sence?

    ReplyDelete
  50. When you have got a skill, you have got it. Sorry about all the hater's out there.

    ReplyDelete
  51. The only requirement needed to be a code enforcement officer is to be able to read a ruler...8" for grass and if Joe has green moss on his building or pealing paint. They are good to go!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Joe, there are Republican who love pork, too. Debbie Campbell and Terry Cohen are both Democrats, and they are the only two looking out for our money. Louise Smith is a Republican, and look at what she did to us!

I don't think it's about party. I think it's about character. Cohen and Campbell are honest, smart and put party and politics aside when making decisions.

I voted for Jim Ireton and I am so disappointed.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Code enforcement/neighborhood services appears to be valued more than police and fire fighters. They left me a violation last year because a small amount of grass was growing in the road in front of my property; also did this to many of my neighbors This is a new development which is well kept. They were wasting time in a safe neighborhood. Worthless and lazy

They are lazy and writing citations for grass in the road or sidewalk is proof in the pudding. They should be going in the rental houses and citing every single violation they find. Hit the slumlords in their pockets.

Joe, you heard anything on 2 SFD employees getting fired by Wannabe Chief Hoppes today?

    3:39 PM

Hoppes and Bragg, your day will come.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I think they work 35 hour weeks in the GOB. Who got fired at SFD?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Joe- you are missing the upgrades in pay for the departments that are not in the general fund, namely, the wastewater plant and water.

Here is an example of the system screwing the little guy (and girl). I heard that they are going to upgrade the assistant super at the wastewater plant. Meanwhile, people that work under him getting licensed to be operators will not get their built in raise for becoming licensed that they were promised when hired.

The game is rigged. Look at the raises in the Mayor's office. How many of these positions listed are located either downtown or in NSCC?

This is some shameful sh!t Jim and Teresa!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Your Firefighters and Paramedics are being furloughed to fund these positions and raises. Thank Lore when theres nobody to man the emergency vehicles.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Jimmy Boy refuses to fill a position at the fire department to handle Ambulabce bills. The city lost $26,000 in lost revenue last month because of his blunder. These are losses because they were not handled in a timely manner and not the total bill.

    ReplyDelete
  60. there needs to be a FREEZE on salaries in these economic times! Whatever in the world does ms. chambers do that warrants such an increase? It better be 90 hour weeks! (doubtful)

  62. money grubbing public sector...they are so self indulgent..

    ReplyDelete
  63. i'd like to see that money be put into fixing our streets, which are A DISGRACE! Many getting these raises don't even live in the city! Grrrrr!

    ReplyDelete
  64. You are correct 9:36. There are more raises in the budget that are not revealed in this post. Also, for the new positions, the amount listed here includes benefits and salary combined.

If you can Joe, please post the raises that are not in the general fund. The public needs to be aware.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I work for the City and there is not one person on that list that deserves a raise, they are going to furlough the line employees and don't care how they are viewed because they know they can do whatever they want to do and you the citizens and the line employees just have to go along with it. The entire top managment is courpt and nothing more then out for themselves. Take your help and get some by firing the top mangment and bring in some professional that want to help the city and citizens. What a crock of BS.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Here here 8:35! I'm a lowly and I sick and tired of these upper managers puffing up what they do so they can get a raise when they don't do squat! We're the ones doing the work.

Joe, you heard anything on 2 SFD employees getting fired by Wannabe Chief Hoppes today?

Three people have been fired by Hoppes and Bragg in the last month. There needs to be an investigation into these guys.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Please move this article back up to the top.

    Many thanks

  69. How do I apply for that neighborhood services code enforcement officer job?

  73. Jime Ireton I don't remember anyone from Neighborhood Services and Code Compliance holding your campaign signs and walking door to door for you. I understand you have a short memory so need I remind you? That's right, it was the Career Firefighters, not Lore Chambers, not Tom Stevenson, not Susan Phillips, not John Pick, not the career firefighters. WTH are you thinking.
