Waller Landing Meeting In Hebron Last Night

Hebron Commissioners Must Listen to the Citizens and the Experts and Turn Down Waller Landing Mega-Project

The public hearing was standing-room only as residents filled the room to say over and over to the Commissioners that Waller Landing is NOT what they want. Experts testified the numerous ways in which the Waller plan is flawed, totally inconsistent with the County Comprehensive Plan and other legal issues too numerous to mention. Not one person (other than the developer) stood up in favor of this project.

It was truly democracy at its grassroots level. Each person was well-prepared and well-versed on the various ways in which such a mega-project would be detrimental to Hebron, the County, the environment, etc., etc.

Beating a hasty retreat from the hearing was the President of Hebron's Planning Commission and the developers themselves--quickly out the door!

  1. It was a total shut-down of Hebron Planning, Commissioners, Town Planner and its Attorneys. The room was filled with experts and others with absolute knowledge of planning and process--the only ones who don't have a clue were sitting at the head table (and they're leading Hebron????). NOT.

Congratulations Hebron residents and others for showing up and speaking out--call Town Hall now and tell them to vote NO on Waller Landing.

Uh.....the developer guys were so funny--standing off in the back, huddled in a corner all by themselves. Yes....they were truly alone last night!

They should leave our town alone!

  2. It really was buffoonery at its best -- that Jamie guy looked like a confused squirrel looking for his lost nuts. His boss developer looked like he was constipated big time.

  3. Hey, the Biker Dude developer (he didn't speak, just hovered in the back corner) really must have had his ponytail in a twist at the way things went down right before their eyes!

One speaker asked a great question:
"How come the ONLY people for this development are the Commissioners sitting at the table?"--- this has always been an unanswered question that have left lots of Hebron folks with suspicion.
If they vote 'yes' this time, something is really weird.

  4. Who are the developers? Where are they from?

  5. They're real gems--out of Wilmington area. You can recognize them easily--one wears shaggy jeans and has a pony tail and lots of bling on his fingers. The other one usually wears cowboy boots -- yep, they're surely folks that inspire confidence.....
But Hebron officials think they're real cool!

  6. The Hebron Commissioners had to receive the message loud and clear last night. The language was anti-Waller Landing. Of course, this does not mean that they will listen. I cannot understand why the Commissioners continue listening to Toni Gorski's ill advice. If they do this time, then the Commissioners believe in Alice in Wonderland.

  7. *WARNING* this is the same developer that wants to build a casino in Delmar! You might support a casino in the area, but you have to ask yourself if this is the correct developer!

  8. Leave Hebron alone!!! This is too big of a development plan that doesn't touch water, sewage and education issues...Not sure why the planning commission is so set to go against all of the town residents, makes you wonder????
