UPDATE: DUMP TRUCK CRASHES INTO BUILDING IN OCEAN CITY

On April 27, 2010, at approximately 08:46 a.m., Ocean City Police and Fire Departments responded to the Sand Pebble Condominium located at 6406 Coastal Highway, in reference to a dump truck striking the condominium.

Officers arrived at the scene and determined that a commercial dump truck had actually struck a car that was stopped for a red light on the southbound side of Coastal Highway at 65th Street. The car (4-door Honda Accord) was forced into the intersection after which the dump truck careened to the left of the intersection and proceeded south on the northbound side of Coastal Highway, eventually driving over the sidewalk and into the bottom floor of the Sand Pebble Condominium before coming to a stop. The dump truck did not strike any vehicles traveling in the northbound lanes of Coastal Highway.

The driver of the dump truck, identified as an 80-year-old male, (name is not being released at this time), was trapped in the truck and had to be rescued by Ocean City Fire Department personnel. He was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for treatment of unknown non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Honda Accord, identified as an 82-year-old woman (name is not being released at this time), was examined at the scene by OC Paramedics, however, did not require any treatment. Some individual units at the Sand Pebble Condominium were occupied at the time of the crash, however, the units struck were unoccupied.

The crash is being investigated by members of the Ocean City Police Traffic Safety Unit. Preliminary investigation has revealed the driver of the dump truck may have suffered from a medical condition, which caused him to lose consciousness and subsequent control of the truck. No charges have been filed at this time.

The Ocean City Building Inspector is at the scene at the Sand Pebble Condominium assessing the structural integrity of the building.

Quit the Party War and put the blame where it belongs MANY YEARS BEFORE JANUARY 09. Check the Facts. See CAPITALISM..Michael Moore its the facts my friend.........this country is in a horrific mess and it did not just start.......Forget the Democrats and Republicans and get people in congress that have morals and brains........

  7. Some people actually LIKE to work because it's stimulating to them. Kudos to those who retire in their 60's and have a lot to do, but there are may others who enjoy the work ethic and the vitality that it brings. Hopefully, this guy is working for that reason and that he is okay.
