Joe, I hope you post this not as a comment to this but as a separate blurb.
I was in the Wicomico Liquor store on Tilghman Rd. back in November for a wine tasting. There was an outburst by a black male employee to a white female employee right in front of those of us there for the tasting. This was so totally uncalled for as well as vulgar since he dropped the F-bomb & called her out of character which was total discrimination. I wasn't the only witness to this. I know for a fact that the female employee called the store manager that night & reported the incident. I told her I would be a witness to this if need be. The male employee continued to work there for at least a month before he left, this of his own free will. Over the time I've been a customer there I have heard the most vulgar, nasty language in that store from the male employees. This is loud enough for everyone to hear. The F-bomb is most prevalent. I, being a male am disgusted with this so I can't imagine what it is like having to work with such language. But as usual nothing has ever been done as it's still happening. I swore I would never go back to that store on Tilghman, but there are times when I have do due to convenience, BUT I'm still hearing the raunchy, nasty language. So what will be done?????
Maybe they should be "Disciplined in the Parameters set forth in Their Employee Agreement" ,which means absolutely nothing.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the county needs to step in. After all it is us, county citizens, who have to take this verbal abuse when we are spending our hard earned dollars here.

ReplyDeleteSadly, the only thing the county can do is cut back on the amount of profit the dispensary is allowed to keep; but the county council doesn't seem to have the political will to do that. Anything else and the dispensary board thumbs their noses at the county government.

He can do or say anything he wants. Nobody can do anything about it because of his race. If they did, the county would be sued for racial discrimination.
ReplyDeleteHo do you know nothing was done? This is a personnel matter and the public is never apprised of personnel matters. So how do you know nothing was done?
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame. That's really the only liquor store I frequent...and have been going there for years. The staff there have ALWAYS been quite polite and nice. I am shocked to hear such negativity.

ReplyDelete1:13..Your supposed correlation is nonsense.People are not drinking in a liquor store. The people who work there are not drinking. They are just like you and I ..just trying to make a living. Profanity is a reflection upon the individual using it.
ReplyDeleteWhether in a liquor store or any other establishment, the behavior in the indivdual required serious consequences. That has nothing to do with liquor...it has everything to do with the people responsible for managing that store.
