-Poll of First Congressional District gives temperature of one of the country’s biggest political battlegrounds-
ANNAPOLIS – The Maryland chapter of Americans for Prosperity has released a survey of 400 likely voters in the First Congressional District that was conducted on April 25th and 26th. Various issues and philosophical questions were tested to give a temperature reading in what will be one of the most competitive electoral battlegrounds in the country. Consistent with Americans for Prosperity’s message, both the health care bill and Stimulus package are wildly unpopular amongst likely voters. On the other hand, the TEA Party movement is viewed favorably by a near 2-to-1 margin.
“The TEA Party movement is held in high regard among first congressional district residents,” said AFP-Maryland state director Dave Schwartz. “It seems that likely voters are also overwhelmingly disenchanted with big government schemes such as health care and the Stimulus package. The message from this poll is clear: residents want to move in a different direction.”
