  4. This is a sad day in American history. We no longer live in a democracy as the government is rapidly taking over private business. I am afraid it is too late but I am looking forward to next November when we can throw these bums out of office.

  6. I am nether excited nor angry, I am disappointed.

Never in my wildest dreams did I believe that are own federal elected officials would enact into law what we fought against through three world wars.

I am no longer a free person. I am now a slave. My master is the Federal Government.

  9. it's a sad day for America. we have just lost another "huge chunk" of freedom. this bill will cost you more than you ever wanted to pay. FYI: Kratovil and Castle voted NO.

  14. Neither. Because they didn't do it right. This bill means NOTHING!
This bill does NOT insure people who cannot afford the insurance rates charged by the insurance companies.
This bill SAYS insurance companies must cover preexisting conditions but they can still price you out of what you can afford to pay so what good is it?
Force me to buy insurance? Go ahead and try. I can't afford the insurance OR the fine but the fine will be cheaper!
Force my employer to insure me? I will lost my job more than likely because I work for a family owned/operated business and I'm the only one not family.
Must I go on? I think not.

  15. extremely angry!!!

  16. Angry enough to declare war against this tyrannical gov and march in the revolution as our forefathers did.

  17. How can they expect to give medical care to another 31 million people and tell us the costs will go down? Just another Obama entitlement program and a move toward Socialism. The people didn't want it and our congressmen failed to hear them. Watch out - immigration reform is next. November cannot come soon enough.

    ReplyDelete
  18. So very disappointed in what is happening to OUR country. It is time to speak and remove ALL that are currently in Congress, send a message that says, WE THE PEOPLE demand to be heard and listened to, we pay their paychecks and expect them to listen!!! If WE THE PEOPLE are not good enough to have the same health insurance as the prez and 'his' peeps, then they are not good enought to govern on OUR behalf!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Angry, but what really gets me is how brainwashed some people are. Someone I know is over joyed at the passing of this bill. She falls back to quoting an incident where someone having an asthma attack was told an ambulance ride would cost the person $700 so the person had to enlist a neighbor to ride him to the hospital for treatment.

In the event an ambulance ride was going to cost a person $700 it is because that person repeatedly uses the emergency services as a taxi service or the ambulance was a privately owned emergency transport company. She bases her support on this ONE incident..that is obviously not the full story.

Sadly she is studying to be a nurse and already participates in clinicals. Congratulations you have just enlisted another Obamabot to treat you or a loved one. An apparent lack of common sense is taking over the nation.

Where are the American peoples heads? Why can't people think independently any more? Why is it a person must jump 100% on one side or the other without seeing the faults in their choices?

America is becoming a place full of stupid. Hopefully there are enough of us left that don't give a rats behind what others say when we stand against all of communist actions.Yes communist actions!

  25. I have excellent health care through my work. I do not pretend
to understand this bill. What I am certain of is that I(and the majority of people in this country) will be paying for those who do not have any health care. We were already paying for them. The bill itself was so thick and changed up multiple times, that I doubt anyone in goverment understands this bill. Also if the healthcare bill is so great, why will all the people who have voted in our interest be excluded? I, along with the rest of this country, want to know, 1. How does this bill effect me directly? What will it cost? What are the long term effects?

  29. This is a very sad day for small business! To quote mama secretary “this is a victory for small business ….this will give them the ability to compete with the likes of larger enterprises for the retention and recruitment of better employees”?????????????? I, up until this point was eagerly looking forward to this up coming year, and HAD plans and was interviewing people to hire for 3 positions. Now I can say I am only going to hire just one….thats right just ONE. I cannot give up an additional 2-3k PER employee per year to cover this cost. With a staff of six….that about 18,000 dollar of PROFIT that will have to be allocated to pay for health insurance that we have offered but NONE of my employees wanted to participate in. Now most will say that “what is another 18,000, it’s a cost of doing business….Well that 18,000 could have been a new hire trainee that WOULD have been on staff with a great opportunity to advance and grow into a job that would pay on low end 28-30k per year.

I feel sorry for you and those like you.

I am extremely dissapointed and agry about the bill as well as whoever thinks this is the way America should go. As a small business owner here in Salisbury, Obamas other promises are all but unexistant, and with middleclass and private business carrying all the gov't leeches on their back, its tough to get ahead.
Actually let me add the word "scared" to the list of adjectives describing this situation.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Angry, i am a small business, so you read between the lines,,,,

    ReplyDelete
  35. VERY VERY VERY ANGRY!
Every last Democrat needs to be removed from office!
We should do like they do at election time.
Set up an apartment in Pelosi's district and use that at your new resident address for hundreds of people to register to vote in her district and vote her OUT!
It's time we fought the battle the way they do.

  36. Maybe I should quit my job and let the Federal Government take care of me too. In fact I think every tax paying citizen should do the same. It doesn't get you anywhere to work hard these days. They just take more!

I am in the boat with you my friend. It is an ill feeling huh? With all the added stress I am going to need to take advantage of this healthcare...i.e. termination becuase I am too old! hahah(not really funny but you have to laugh sometimes)

  38. What we currently have is terrible. And what they just passed is terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  39. angry, disheartened, disappointed for several reasons:

    1) it feels as though thing are out of control, as though it doesn't matter what the people really want. Our opinion is no longer important.

    2) people seem to want something for nothing and it's just getting worse, our society is becoming one of handouts and entitlements. I have worked since I was 15, as has my husband, yet here we are paying for others to do nothing (or in some cases, even worse, to rob people, sell drugs, etc while collecting our hard earned tax dollars).

I pray this is a wake up call to us hard working americans to take our country back, elect representatives who will worry about the well-being of all americans, not just those below a certain income level.

I can only conclude that you did not read it. You probably listened to the talking points on msm stations.
I spent most of my weekend reading this bill. WE ARE SCREWED WHEN THIS IS SIGNED!!!!! Not only will it put seniors at high risk, it will be a job killer. If you had a business that had a year end net profit of 3%, could you shoulder another 6% tax increase and stay in business? Clue... they won't.
I could go on but with most liberals it is best not to argue with them. They do not understand common sense.

    ReplyDelete
  53. On March 21, 2010 the House of Representatives voted to plunge our health care system into a quasi-socialist mess that will lead to universal, single-payer coverage within 15 years. It is a truism of economics that when something becomes free, it shall inevitably lose value. Our best hospitals will soon be flooded with millions of new Medicaid patients who will pay nothing for care, while the number of doctors will decrease because the profession will no longer be overly lucrative. Since many of these new patients don't work for a living, it will be quite easy for them to schedule doctor's appointments every time they have a sore throat or a hangnail. Sadly, our health system will go into steady decline just like our public school system did when the government raised trillions of dollars in new taxes and guaranteed free educations to that segment of our society that doesn't pay any taxes.

Like you, I am frustrated and saddened by this development. I'm counting the days until November when our voices will finally be heard. But in a larger sense, we have seen in the past that elections don't really matter all that much. The government is a self-perpetuating entity that will constantly vote itself more power, regardless of which party is in charge. As a case in point, look at Medicare Part D that George Bush gave us not so long ago.

One reason I am writing this memo (aside from the cathartic and therapeutic value) is to remind all of you that the free market will always win out in the end. The education system of America is clear proof of this fact and serves as a guidepost for where we must all go in the next 15 years. When the public schools became war zones where no one learns anything valuable, private and religious schools exploded in capacity to fill the void for the segment of society who had the extra money to pay tuition. The same thing is going to happen with our health care system. A parallel system will emerge because the best doctors in the world are NOT going to participate in a socialist system where Medicaid only pays them $8 to see an illegal immigrant with the sniffles. Rather, these talented doctors will set up private clinics where people with extra money in the bank can get the best care in the world quickly, not after an eight-month wait. The public hospitals will serve the citizens who have no money, and therefore will erode into a state of inefficiency and complacence. This always happens when a monopoly exists.

So where do we as productive and energetic citizens go from here? It is actually quite simple. We must do the same things that have always driven liberals absolutely nuts. Take ownership of your situation. Smile. Live well. Prosper. Build a stash of money. Do what you have to do to make enough cash so that if you get sick, you will have the disposable income necessary to pay the bill at a boutique hospital or clinic where the best doctors have set up shop. If you are not happy with your current income level, get an advanced degree so that you can move yourself to a much higher salary. Don't sit around expecting the government to help you or to do the right thing. We have seen in the past that they only care about the unproductive people in society. People like us are the forgotten fools who pay the bills, then get shafted in the end.

My message to you is that even though you currently feel helpless, you are still 100% in control of your destiny. You can only become a slave to the government if you allow yourself to become dependent and compliant. Voting in November and donating to Tea Party movements can be somewhat helpful, but ultimately they won't get you very far. I hope you will take positive steps to become the kind of well-off person who can easily opt out of the socialist health care system. Otherwise, you run the risk of dying on a waiting list like our friends in Canada and England so often do. Let the Obama voters enjoy that type of health care system. We will be elsewhere.

    NOW GET TO WORK.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Furious....in case the morons who passed it missed the pasr several years, we don't have the money to pay for it and middle America and corporate America are already taxed to the hilt.

You do not 'SOLVE" the health issues in this country in this manner...you will make them worse and you will further erode our fiscal health.

Frankly, this bill never had anything to do with heath reform...it has to do with further appeasement to th eleft wing of the Dem party and thier belief that
"big Government" is the key to thier long term power.

I have been a lifelong bluedog Dem....Pelosi,Reid and Obama have driven me out of the party with this nonsense.Changing my party affiliation today.

  55. Everyone that is angry will have the opportunity to get rid of these politicians at election time but do you really think the next batch will be any better lol
I would bet that there was a hue and cry from the populace when SS was instituted as well as Medicare. Lets face it, we are already paying for the uninsured everytime they go into the hospital and never pay the bill. You and I are doing it in the long run. Everyone, it seems, knocked the previous administration and were so hungry for change, we got a new crop now everyone is bitching about them. Guess we will never be satisfied until we have business men/women running this country in lieu of all the politicians who have done nothing but feed from the public trough all their life. I think I am really glad that I am on my way out and not it. Keep'um straight, Joe. jackkcharl@aol.com

  58. The government can’t run Social Security, the Post Office, or MEDICARE. What makes anybody think they can run Health Care?
We, the Baby Boomers, have only ourselves to blame. We thought we were doing the right thing buy providing our children with all of the little trinkets and toys that we didn’t have when we were young. We should have been teaching them what it meant to be an American and what freedom is and how expensive in lost lives, it is to maintain. Well I think it’s time we show these politicians and the younger generation just what the Boomers are made of. Let’s start at the local level and clean up our Government. Make sure the State Politicians read and understand the Constitution. If they want to do thing their way throw them out of office. WE ARE THE EMPLOYE3RS OF EVERY POLITICIAN FROM THE LOCAL LEVEL TO THE FEDERAL LEVEL. It’s time we set down our rules for them to live by while they’re in office. Lets provide them with some guidelines. We can make a list of items we demand they address. Things like: MAKE SURE THAT EVERYBODY IN ANY GOVERNMENT JOB GETS THE SAME HEALTH CARE THAT THEY SAY IS GREAT FOR US., TWO TERM LIMIT IN OFFICE, NO LIFE TIME RETIREMENT, CUT STAFF BY 25% A YEAR FOR 3 YEARS, ELIMINATE FEDERAL AND STATE INCOMTAX AS WE KNOW IT TODAY AND INSTATUTE A FLAT TAX, NO SUBSUDIES FOR BUSINESS , SEND ILLEGEALS HOME, GET EDUCATION BACK ON TRACK.
Can’t wait the see the comments on this.

  59. I've got a good job, great health insurance, and I am in favor of this bill. And anyone who has a family member with a pre-existing condition who could not gethealth care before is also happy today. This bill will save lives.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Anyone who thinks this is a good idea has truely lost their minds. No where in the world where health care is run by the Govt. does it work. The end result will be less doctors, worse care, prolonged waiting periods for simple tests, less options on what doctor you can see. For doctors and insurance companies to stay in business they will also have to be in the Governments back pocket and that will just not turn out well for us. The most dishearting part is that we now see what we have known for many years but just didn't speak about it. The American people do not matter when it comes to making decisions it is all about what the political crooks want. No way more people in this country would have voted for this bill then voted againist it. All yes voters should be kicked to the curb because they obviously did not listen to the people they are suppose to be representing. wtf

    ReplyDelete
  61. I am so angry that I think violence and civil war within our country may be in order. Never in my wildest dream would I have thought I would feel this way. After 140 years this country's history may repeat itself. I am sick to my stomach even thinking these thoughts but I have a strong feeling it is inevitable. I pray to God for the sake of my children and the good people in this country that I am wrong and we will be able to resolve this problem in November without violence.

Hospitals write off millions/billions per year in bad debt from unpaid/unisured costs. The government/you pick up the tab. Doctors who treat the uninsured at the hospital don't get paid anything. So, having more insured people will be more beneficial. Also, the CBO is estimating significant deficit reduction in 10 years, and even more in 20 years... I know you will all think I am some Kool-aid drinker... But, I work in the field and know the horrors of todays medical care. Tort reform would have been nice, but that would not solve the issue and the spiraling costs.

If your great health care policy comes from your employer, guess what? It will cheaper for them to pay the fine than to insure you and your coworkers. And, if they choose to keep you covered, do you have any idea how much your premiums will escalate over the next few years??????

    Constitution of the United States
    R.I.P.
With ACORN and other voting registration frauds there will be so many millions of illegally registered votes who will vote for whatever adds to their dole from the taxpayers that it will be impossible to even vote these criminals out of office in November. The voter fraud where in countless districts Mr. Obama received more votes than there were registered voters in the precincts is clear witness to that fact.
The Obama administration is destroying the economy so quickly that the US dollar will be worthless, so those who have money to buy private health care, as another post has suggested, will see the purchasing power of their saving go up in smoke.
Change was promise and is being delivered with a vengance.

  110. The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to an electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.? -- Author Unknown

So,let me get this straight 10:40 and the rest of you ignorant people. If you are poor you don't deserve an education or medical attention. Lord, forbid any of you have a stroke and end up in a nursing home and then your private insurance drops you because you are not progressing and you have to turn to medicare. Oh no, I mean your stacks of cash you stashed. Not everyone is successful on this racist eastern shore and evident in this racist country. If employment was available and substantiated there would be less government assisted people. Everyone has something to say about the people living on the government. But when its your turn it will be the best thing sense sliced bread. HOLLA.

But what I saw were obstructionist Republicans unable or unwilling to bring these runaway costs to accountability over the last 8 years. This bill/law is flawed. But something HAD to be done. Since your side didn't do it, ours did.

But the other side of this coin is that the good people who aren't a drain on the system are suffering. Because we are too proud to take advantage of the system. But what has been passed is an attempt for a "public option". This may not be perfect. But it is a start. I don't pretend to understand every aspect of what will happen. But, I do know that some part of this bill. Will help someone somewhere that needs it desperately.
