Sunday And Holiday Sessions Of Congress

Does it bother anybody else that we have had two if not three sessions of Congress on Sundays and holidays? With Cap and Trade there was a long weekend push for a Sunday vote, then there was a push for a vote Christmas Eve and yesterday there was a weekend push again culminating on another vote on Sunday.

Does anybody out there remember a little phrase from Article 1 Section 7 of the Constitution which states "Sundays excepted". Another reference to people's memories is the fact that during William Jefferson Clinton's impeachment hearings, they met on Saturday but did not meet on Sunday.

Why is this Congress pushing for not just weekend but having Sunday and holidays as their objective for pushing major votes?

  2. this is a Godless Congress we are dealing with. they have no love for God or any of His creations. woe to America for allowing this behavior to come in to existence. So very sad to see this country following the pattern of other large world powers such as Rome and England.

  3. The bill passed, get over it. Every day that goes by without this important legislation 1,700 Americans die from lack of adequate health care coverage. Enough is enough!

  4. When you don't want anyone to really see what you are doing, you do it when everyone is busy and looking the other way. Sunday is usually a busy day for families today; church, yard work, family dinners, etc. It's also the bully mentality of the obama White House. They don't care how or when just ram it through. It is sickening to see what they are doing to our country.

  5. The Sunday vote was necessary (and the lateness of the vote also) so that the event could take place on March 22 (Greenwich time).

March 22 or 322 is a very important date for the folks who run our country.

  6. You guys really need to figure out something substantive to complain about. First you complain because they aren't working. Now you complain because they decide to work weekends and holidays. Last I checked, most of us work weekends and holidays.

  7. completely taken out of context. The wording is: "If any Bill shall not be returned by the President within ten Days(Sundays excepted) after is shall have been presented to him, the Same shall be a Law..."

in other words, the president has 10 days to address a Bill before it automatically becomes law, but Sundays are not counted in the 10 day period. This has absolutely nothing to do with when Conress can or cannot meet

  8. Maybe it's because they are gutless and godless!

  9. Because Pelosi and her cronies force Congress to vote in their favor so that they can go home. Congress is essentially being held captive until they get the votes they are looking for. It should be considered an illegal tactic because that is exactly what it is, a tactic.

  11. It's the same strategy that Maryland's Boy Gov and his cronies used a few years ago to pass the sales tax increase and other misc. taxes. They did it on a quiet weekend in November. I believe it was a Saturday night.

    Remember that?

  17. 10:42... absolutely hilarious. You just keep on being a sheep and ignore any truths. This specific posting is neither liberal or conservative. The discussion of the constitution and it's meaning and misinterpretations is American

  20. In Mark's gospel, Jesus healed the man with the writhered hand on the sabbath which, of course, greatly dismayed the Pharisees, the Republicans of his day.

How many of you actually "Remember the sabbath day and keep it holy?"

  24. Keep in mind, this is not FREE HEALTH CARE for all... Uninsured-"Its just going to be like Christmas... It's going to be great. You know, no worries (about) the bills. We are going to go ahead and pay our co-pay and be alright." Yeah, our family policy (not yet required by law) cost $13,500+ in 2009 (with over $6,000 for co-pays, deductables and out of pocket expences over the next 3 years for minor procedures). Uninsured? but that's going to be illegal. Hope they policy shop as carefully as we did...
    Merry Christmas.

  25. 1:26 I see you read drudge. You ever notice that the headline they provide is often very misleading from the true direction of the story? The story revolved around a WORKING CLASS family where the father was LAID OFF. They couldn't afford the coverage offered through the wife's work and his new job isn't covering him yet. Sounds to me like the problems of the typical working class family these days and highlights the need for medical reform (even if you disagree with the current legislation). But I guess you will still find a way to try to demonize this family.

  26. REGARDLESS WHAT HAPPENS, DO NOT TAKE THE MARK! There will be many who will accept it at this time. Great pressure will be on you also to conform to their example. Miracles from satanic power will deceive many into taking the mark. YOU MUST REMAIN TRUE TO GOD, EVEN IF YOU GET BEHEADED OR GO INTO CAPTIVITY AS A CONSEQUENCE. YOUR ETERNAL DESTINY HANGS IN THE BALANCE.

Each individual Christian will make up her/his mind about martyrdom.

The prophecy to which you refer claims there will in fact be many who will take the mark - so they can eat and function in society. Those who give up this life, for Christ's sake (testimony) will prosper in the next life (spiritual). There will not be many (if any) who will in fact give up this life. So be it.

The Father will judge our hearts. I may accept the mark in order to care for my family - but the Father will know my heart.

You don't know for sure what you might do either - I would suggest. I hope you find the strength to resist.

May the Holy Spirit be with you.
