Sex abuse scandal prompts soul-searching across the globe
WARSAW, Poland - An Austrian priest avoids mention of Pope Benedict XVI in his Masses. A Philadelphia woman stops going to confession, saying she now sees priests as more flawed than herself. British protesters call for the pontiff to resign.
As the faithful fill churches this Holy Week, many Roman Catholics around the world are finding their relationship to the church painfully tested by new revelations of clerical abuse and suggestions Benedict himself may have helped cover up cases in Germany and the U.S.
There are fears that for those whose commitment is already wavering, the scandal could be the final blow, and a growing chorus is clamoring for the church to embrace full transparency, take a hard line against pedophiles, and reconsider the rule of priestly celibacy.

You won't see this on the MSM .

ReplyDeleteThis links to an MSNBC article. I'd say it is on the "MSM".
Joe, I know you pick and chose what to publish, but let me just say. As a devout Catholic, I find it very interesting that you chose to continue putting up articles on the Catholic Church but not any other institutions! yes what is happening in the Church is a travesty. However every study has shown that there is less incidence of abuse in the Catholic Church than in any other faith, let alone institutions in the secular world. Is that acceptable, of course not. But just once I would like to see you actually do some homework on the subject. In failing to do so you are no better then the lame stream media you so often target! I know this comment will never see the light of day! Remember, what goes around comes around! enjoy the ride while it lasts!
ReplyDeleteanonymous 9:24, do tell me all of the other news worthy stories I should be producing referencing other institutions? This is news worthy, like it or not. I am also a Catholic.
ReplyDelete9:24 ANY religion that condones molestation and rape is not worthy of being noted as a religious group. Any individual that molests and rapes children is not worthy of living nor worthy of being forgiven or supported throughout the discovery of evidence.
ReplyDeleteThe Catholic church needs to wake up to reality instead of living in some imaginary world. If it isn't brought to the attention of the public, addressed, and appropriate actions taken it will continue in the same magnitude as it is now...and that is wrong as a human regardless of religious faith or following.
For now maybe, well see what we can do about that.
ReplyDeleteCatholicism was created by the Jews who killed Jesus Christ.
ReplyDeleteIt is the essence of heresy
anonymous 9:44, are you threatening me? Of course you are. You're anonymous, but God knows.
ReplyDeleteThinking I would convert you no threat.
ReplyDeleteIts a joke, relax.
ReplyDeletelet's not argue about this especially during this wonderful time of year (holy week). all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. the good news is that Jesus came to seek and save those that are lost (all of us). remember there is redemption through His blood for those who will receive His forgiveness. He said He wants no one to be lost. for those who may not know Him yet; let this be your time.
ReplyDeleteChild rape hidden so it did not reflect badly on the church. These men should have been arrested and tried, not moved to hide their crimes. How would you feel if Thomas Leggs was just moved to another place and set free? It was all done to protect the money donations of the church.
ReplyDeleteHoly week? More like holy sh*tload of trouble for the Catholic Church. What comes around goes around. Don't protect these pedifiles.
ReplyDeleteJoe-
ReplyDeleteSee the link below for a solid response to the NYT's recent flimsy hit piece(s) against Benedict XVI. Of course, this fare had to be served up just in time for Holy Week.
Anyone under the sorry delusion that the ("celibate") Catholic clergy is somehow uniquely prone to deviant predations can simply google searches with terms like "clergy/ rabbis" "sex" "abuse". The results should be enlightening.
For an even more illuminating experience, try searching "public school" "sex" "abuse".

9:43 and Joe, No one I know of in or out of the Catholic condones child abuse. Secondly coming from New York you ought to know that the NYC public schools are filled with predators they can't get rid of because of the unions! This is just another attack on my church by the most liberal rag in existence!
ReplyDelete9:55 nice try but I have just one question, If the Catholic Church is heresy where did your Bible come from?
Holy Week and this is the trash you guys decide to give credance to! Sad, very sad indeed!
Now this is a step in the right direction.
ReplyDelete1:24... really? That's funny since there is always a cover up or an attempt to cover up child sex offenses within the church. I guess since you do not know those people personally it makes it all better right?
ReplyDeleteby the way there are consequences to all our actions. anyone who breaks the law should be punished to the extent of the law. it doesn't mean we can't celebrate Holy Week. for those of us who do believe; this is a wonderful time of the year.
ReplyDelete7:42...for those of us who do not believe; this is a very wonderful time of the year.
ReplyDeleteSome more background on this case:

There is nothing "wonderful" about he Easter story. Your filthy church has sold you on that angle.
ReplyDeleteJesus Christ was murdered by religious zealots and a cooperating heathen political appointee.
The Catholic church and the Council of 9 were a Satanic Occult. Their emblems, symbols and practices are Satanic. Their filthy degenerate clergy are Satanic. They are "of their father . . . Satan"
There are very few (if any) who will and do believe in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is NOT a happy time.

ReplyDeleteHear here. You said it brother.
The Father is a respector of no person. The Pope is a human being. His clergy are miscreants who take advantage of people in more ways than one. They are trained to prey on people's fear of death and anxiety about religion. They have set up a pomp and circumstance of evil rituals designed to give people a false hope in their ORGANIZATION, not the blood of Jesus Christ.
They are self serving.
