Let The Campaigning Begin

  1. Good Luck Rick !!!!

I know I will be there. I know there are some people who will not agree but Pollitt has shown he will support the citizens of this county. I have family at the Sheriff's office and he has stood by them as well. You got my vote.

  2. At least Jim Fineran finally does something to earn his County salary ($60,000 per year-?).

PS -- you should use a grammar checker, Jim.

  4. "calm steady style of leadership....kept our ship on course"????

In reality you mean....he's normally so quite you wonder if he's doing ANYTHING, "style"...more like the lack of ability to manage a budget. In fact the only time you do hear from him is when he insist on spending millions despite what the citizens want, or when he's trying to cover his butt on some major scandal thats surfaced......our ships been on course all right, to sink to the bottom, since he's been at the wheel, all he's done is spend spend spend...
Takes alot of nerve to ask for re-election after all the floundering you've done on OUR budget.

Rick, I was wondering what the status was of the "task force" you appointed last fall to specifically work with the Wicomico County Board of Education in order to get the 3,000 employees to "volunteer" to give up some of their pay, benefits, and other perks so the "regular" county workforce of 500 doesn't have to shoulder the weight of the economic setbacks all by themselves? I mean those were your publically spoken words weren't they? Well, what is the status? p.s. I don't think any Wicomico County resident who happens to be a county employee is going to vote for you.

Matter of fact, whoever runs against him needs to talk to the county employees as well at the other citizens. We are taxpayers too you know. So any opponents out there who want to get a real feel for the state of the county, arrange a process by which county employees can publically air their grievences without fear of reprisals or recrimminations. Hey, but I am just one vote. What do I know.

  7. I wouldn't go to this fundraiser if Rick paid my way!!! He's been a disappointment to Salisbury and they have been thru ENOUGH! Maybe somebody else can get done what Rick should have concentrated on instead of wasting taxpayer dollars...shame on you Rick...if you do win re-election the people of Salisbury deserve just what they get!!!

  8. Does anyone else think that it is inappropriate for Rick Pollitt's appointed committee chair to the Wicomico Neighborhood congress to pimp for his re-election? See Below:

    -------
    Good morning Congress!

Attached above, kindly find our invitation to join County Executive Rick Pollitt and friends on Saturday afternoon, March 13th 2010, for a traditional Beef ‘n’ Dumplings dinner as Rick kicks off his re-election campaign as our first county executive. The dinner will be held at the Pittsville Fire Hall from 5PM to 8PM and will feature live music, great food and stimulating fellowship. Rick’s friends are asking for a donation of $30.00 to help defray the cost of the dinner and begin building a campaign treasury that will carry them through to Election Day.

We would like to ask everyone to come out and support Rick in his re-election efforts. As you know, the Wicomico Neighborhood Congress was Rick’s vision, over three years ago, of bringing together a coalition of neighborhood leaders. The Congress has been Rick’s means of reaching into the very heart of our county to determine the problems facing our neighborhoods. He see’s and reads every e-mail communication that is sent out to the “Congress” and appreciates your dedication and the leadership you are giving; reaching out and gathering together for the preservation and betterment of our neighborhoods and community in Wicomico County.

Please join us for this fun and supportive evening for Rick. Please RSVP by calling Connie Strott at 410-430-3112 so that they’ll know “how many dumplin’s to fix.

    See you on Saturday!

    Cindy Pilchard

    Wicomico Neighborhood Congress

    Chairman

  9. Anybody but Pollitt (or Alessi)!

  10. 3:04 you are ignorant and misinformed my friend. Mike Lewis actually demanded that Mr. Ruark resign from office in Feb. 2008 - hardly a "hugging" type of situation. I am not excusing Mr. Ruark's behavior but he and Mike do not have the type of relationship - professionally and personally as you portrayed in your wayward post. Too bad you did not graduate from school. Oh, by the way, you can look far and wide and you will never see a case "botched" by Mike Lewis.

  11. OMG you know he doesn't have guts to run for re election! He is such a joke. We do not need anymore of him. He could care less about the citizens. He knows nothing about having guts to stand up to losers. and he certainly knows nothing about handling our money. Please anyone can beat him he has proven he is a loser in politics!

  12. Rick Pollitt will NOT get my vote this time. He is a HUGE disappointment.

  13. Don't try returning to Fruitland we don't want you either.

  14. B!tch, b!tch, b!tch. How many of you will actually VOTE when the time comes????? Bunch of whiney no good do nothing babies. Rick Pollitt will win and it will be all a your alls faults!

  15. 4:51 don't be so sure. lol You wouldn't be saying that if Mike Lewis decided to run for County Ex. instead of re-election to the County Sheriff. Now THAT would be an interesting race.

  16. I admire his willingness to take on this thankless job again. Anybody who would run for this job must really care about the people of this county (or be crazy). No amount of money is worth all the crap he has to endure (at least based on this web site)from those who do nothing but whine and complain. Keep plugging away, Pollitt. You have my support as well as most of my neighbors. Thanks for being an honest man that we can count on.

  17. Rick has courage to actually run again considering the "snakes" that are working for him trying to make him fail so they retain the original system of control. Considering everything Rick has had to deal with in these passive agressive assholes acting like they are on his side, he does deserve some credit. I wish you luck Rick. Honesty should prevail.

  18. 4:51 He may win, but it will not be with my vote, and yes I will vote.

  19. 4:51 - Alot of people vote, believe it or not and I happen to be one of those who do vote, every election. I happen to agree with alot of the posts here, all Rick does is spend away without regard for what the citizens of this county want. In other words, he doesn't listen, he has his own agenda and I personally don't want more of the same so I will not vote for him.

  20. I think it is wrong to use the Wicomico Neighborhood Congress to promote a specific candidate, even if it is the incumbent and the one who started it.

At some point, they became a separate creature.

This compromises them in my opinion.

  21. great we just had an election and these people are already running again? everyone get out your wallets
the beast needs it's afternoon snack

  22. Why I will not vote for Rick or Ruark:

The landfill mess should have been turned over to the FBI, many people were protected and an aggressive probe would have shown corruption at the top and many more would have gone to jail and done real time.

  23. 6:08...your comment makes absolutely no sense at all. An "Executive" has control over who works for him or her. An "executive" sets the agenda and provides the resources to meet that agenda and also does his/her best to clear obstacles. An "Executive" constantly measures performance against goals in an objective manner and re calibrates when and if necessary.A true "executive" would never tolerate nor facilitate the kind of culture you described.

In my opinion you are simply offering lame excuses for the failure to recognize critical challenges in this county and to make tough choices coupled with necessary actions.

4 more years of that passive style of leadership will damage this county for decades.
