Illegals: What About Us?

Immigrant rights groups on Monday demanded that President Obama impose a full moratorium on deportations of illegal immigrants, arguing that his policies have been worse for their cause than those of his Republican predecessor.

Saying they've been "betrayed" by and lost patience with Mr. Obama, the advocates suggested that the president could regain their support by leading a fight on Capitol Hill for a bill to legalize illegal immigrants. Mr. Obama took the first step toward legalization during a meeting Monday at the White House with two lawmakers working on a bill.

But a bill could take months to pass. In the meantime, the immigrant rights groups say, Mr. Obama must end deportations altogether.

"We demand an immediate stop to all deportations, because each one of these deportations, each one of these numbers, equals a life destroyed and a family devastated," Angelica Sala, executive director of the Coalition for Human Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, said at a news conference in Washington.

Last year, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said enforcement was sufficient and that the focus should turn back to legalization.

  1. legalize illegals? are you kidding me? they already get all of the benefits and more that an American born citizen gets. we can't take care of our own, so adding others isn't going to help. This really frustrates me.

  2. No, 9:06, illegals don't get all the benefits American-born citizens get. They aren't eligible for TANF, food stamps, housing vouchers, or anything aside from emergency Medicaid care and education for their children. Those are the only government benefits they get. If you are worried about spending on these welfare programs, get concerned about all the Americans who are abusing these programs. They are the real problem.

  3. As much as I want to see them ALL deported, they might as well legalize them, they get the same and more than legal citizens do anyway!
Another MUTE problem in our country.
They're not going to do ANYTHING about the illegal immigrants, NOTHING!
Those in Washington DO NOT CARE!

  4. Why does anyone want to legalize these people at a time when unemployment is over 9%. Shut down the job market for them and let americans fill these jobs. Without work, they'll scramble to get back across the border.

  5. The reason is, the politicians have new voters. Look at Miami, most of the politicians are now minorities.

If they get enough legalized they will out number politics in each state until they turn the country into a little havavnah, or mexico.

Maybe if all these people worked hard in their own country they could change their country instead of coming to ours and changing it here.

BUT our greedy pieces of shit politicians will sell their sould for a vote.

    LETS START OVER!
