DORCHESTER-WICOMICO-ESSEX-WESTMORELAND-RICHMOND-INCLUDING THE CITIES OF...CAMBRIDGE...SALISBURY...TAPPAHANNOCK

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WAKEFIELD HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON FRIDAY TO 6 PM EST SATURDAY. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

SNOW MIXED WITH SLEET...IS EXPECTED TO START OVER EASTERN VIRGINIA AND THE LOWER MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE AROUND MIDDAY FRIDAY. A MIXTURE OF SNOW...SLEET...AND EVEN RAIN IS EXPECTED IN MANY AREAS BY FRIDAY NIGHT. PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CONTINUE ON
SATURDAY AS THE STORM EXITS THE COAST.

PRECISE SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS ARE DIFFICULT TO PINPOINT AT THIS TIME. SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO AVERAGE 5 TO 10 INCHES...WITH POTENTIALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS FROM THE NORTHERN NECK TO DORCHESTER COUNTY MARYLAND.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW... SLEET...AND ICE ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.
