We're Dropping Blognetnews On Salisbury News

We have enjoyed a partnership with Blognetnews for several years now but we have become convinced their rating figures are no longer accurate.

While this may not mean much to most of you, Salisbury News has grown leaps and bounds over the past two years. However, this year our numbers have skyrocketed both in traffic volume as well as comments.

Considering Blognetnews states their rankings are based on the "most influential political Blogs" in the state, they certainly aren't proving such. There is not a single Blog on Blognetnews that has a higher volume of traffic and or comments than Salisbury News. In fact, some of the top ranked Blogs for this year so far only have some 80 visitors a day with one or two comments per day. Again, how is this "Influential?"

Anyhow, I have stated this all too many times in the past and quite frankly I've seen enough. We produce up to 70 articles per day and offer a far better variety of news and information than any Blog out there. The work that goes into it also takes up far more time than the Blogs only producing one article per day, yet they're ranked higher than those who deliver important news and information in real time.

So today we will remove the Blognetnews rankings and part our ways from them from this point forward. Besides, their rankings do nothing for Salisbury News any more nor did they in the past. We have enjoyed being the #1 Blog in the state of Maryland for the past three years. It's time someone else enjoy that position, even though they will always be #2. ;-)

Oh, don't think that Blognetnews will drop Salisbury News though. We deliver them a TON of traffic and since we allow a RSS Feed, they have the right to continue to carry us.

  1. Okay, I see your point, but I am more than a little uneducated about how blog hosts work.
Will this affect how the posts go up?
Will this make posting comments harder for you to do?
Will you just be switching hosts?
I assume you will still be @ SBYNews.com?

  2. No, it will not affect how posts go up.

Comments will be the same as they have always been.

No, we will not be switching hosts.

the domain will remain the same.

Folks, it's simple. Blognetnews does absolutely nothing for Salisbury News.

If the company was mine, in the very least I'd send each Blogger a certificate each year with their rankings. It's the least they can do, considering they make money off of linking to Blogs like Salisbury News.

To JT, JR, BB & SB, and what exactly is Blognetnews, Idiots. They copy and paste every single article on their Site. They have no original content. So just how stupd can the 4 of you be anyway.

  5. anonymous 11:24, We're ranked #1 more often than you think.

However, I grow tired of watching other Blogs that put very little effort into their work like Michael Schwartz, Billy Burke and others who go onto Blognetnews and rate themselves, click on their own articles and some how play the system to the point they are in the top 10.

If you lok at their Alexa Ratings, some of these people arer rated over 8,000,000, yes, that's eight million. This means they get maybe 10 visits per day.

Blognetnews is using a system that is not in my interest and I'm respectfully bowing out. I'll admit that years ago it encouraged me to do more on a daily basis and achieve a good ranking but today we've delivered far more than we ever have in the past. We have grown leaps and bounds, (as I mention in the article) and to be perfectly fronk, whenever I look at Site Meter and see where the incoming traffic is coming from, I maybe see Blognetnews once a year. They do absolutely nothing for Salisbury News and they do nothing to change their ways in reference to just how someone is influential. If they want to change their statement and take out the word "influential" I'd be more interested in what they provide. In the mean time they're customizing their system to keep certain Bloggers happy. To me, that's crooked, fixed and or flawed.

  6. Mr. Burke, I did NOT claim we produce 70 articles per day. I said, "We produce up to 70 articles per day" UP TO, you Idiot. Try learning how to read.
