  1. Effing unbelievable.

Since snow flurries are also predicted for Friday, they should just close until Monday!

  2. Joe:

This nonsense is why many employers are becoming reluctant and often decide not to hire parents of young children, especially single moms who may have to miss coming to work. There is no reason why they should close schools here in Wicomico County today.

  3. Okay, employers are not allowed to ask you about your family situation during the interview process.

  4. Have you people read the forcast for today? No, it hasn't started snowing yet and no, we're not supposed to get a lot of snow but the wind conditions combined with the snow coming down are going to cause whiteout conditions and make it very difficult to drive.

I personally thought they would open for at least half a day. I think the concern is of bussing all those kids to school and then getting stuck because the busses can't run to get them home again.

  5. Absolutely ridiculous. Lets screw up our childrens education further, and only send them to school when the sun is shining brightly!

Okay, genius, the employer has other ways to find out about a candidate's family. How hard is that to do here -- not very!

And if the person is in her 20's or early thirties, what are the chances she has young kids and may have more in the future.

  7. People also have to realize what time the call has to be made to postpone or cancel schools. They can not wait til 7 AM to say the weather is good or bad.

  9. I'm going to dump a cup of ice on the road and see how long schools are closed. Two, three days?

  10. I do realize when they have to make the decision, but also know they say the storm won't be until late this evening and into the night. Hope they don't have to make this one up, this was not their fault.
