SBYNews Reaches Out To Tree Removal Companies

Many people are contacting me in reference to trees fallen down on their property.

Folks, it is VERY important BEFORE you have any trees removed on your property that you contact your Insurance Company first. Be sure to take pictures of the damage, (should there be any) and CONFIRM with your Insurance Company first that they will reimburse you.

I have stated this in the past. A friend of mine had a tree removed from his property that hit his home and when they hired a company to come out and immediately remove it, the Insurance Company refused to pay his claim because an adjuster didn't come out to see it first.

All that being said, we are reaching out to those in the Tree Removal Business to e-mail me at alberobutzo@wmconnect.com with your telephone number and we will put up a Post announcing those companies for the general public.

  1. The insurance companies are always looking for an excuse to either not pay or to cancel your insurance.

My friend in Baltimore City paid her homeowner's for 12 yrs without a claim against it. When her house was robbed she made a claim. Then within the same year, a tree fell on her fence and she made another claim. She was informed the insurance would pay for the fence, but after they were cancelling her policy. She had to go with another company at a signifigant higher premium.

  5. I was always told to protect your property from further damage. For instance if a tree fell on your home, take pictures and have the tree removed ASAP to prevent further damage. Do temporary repairs to protect your property and call insurance company immediately when they open. Don't know if they are working today or not. May be worth a phone call to your agent. They may have another number to call for emergencies.

  8. Hey Joe,

Have been without power so just got on SBYNews...Bobby got his first call @6am with a tree on a house and several others...

We are willing and able to look at any tree work/removal...Just remind people that unlicensed and uninsured companies will be out and about...

Just because someone is "licensed"doesn't mean that they are licensed to do tree work...They should have a Maryland Licensed Tree Expert number-this can be verified at http://www.dnr.state.md.us/Forests/. Click on find a Tree Expert.

  10. Being the victim of a less than professional tree service I would never again use anyone but tree Tech. Worth the wait for quality work at good prices. Be careful out there Bobby!

  11. TreeTech is a Wonderful company with impecable references and work ethic. They are more than honest and fair with their prices and more than willing to go the extra mile to help someone out. I also know Sherry and Bobby and thier family personally and they are good people with good Christian values. They have done work for myself and nieghbors in our development and when the work is complete you never even know they have been there - they are so meticulous with clean-up. Highly recommend them for any job big or small.

  12. Most tree removal services in this area take 6-8 months to actually show up to do the job, so no worries on having it done before insurance sees it!

  13. I find it quite amusing that you recommend that the tree companies are licensed. Normally, the owner of the company is the only one with a tree license and as we all know, they are not the ones out there in your yard doing your tree work. The only company in our area which the licensed owner is the one that actually does your tree work is Billy Singleton at A1 Tree Service. Give him a call, I highly recommend.
