The Great Dump Truck Scandal of 2010

Salisbury Councilwoman Terry Cohen It has all the traits of a Hollywood epic. The wicked witch and her oversized henchman attack the two heroines who are standing up for peace, justice and the American way.

After examining Salisbury councilwoman Terry Cohen’s chronology of events and her back-up documentation I concur that allowing this type of behavior to continue makes Salisbury city government more like Venezuela than the United States. However, both Ms. Cohen and councilwoman Debbie Campbell may differ with me as to who the real culprits are.

Regardless, I am grateful that Cohen and Campbell agree that the RULE OF LAW should prevail rather than the caprice of officials elected and appointed. Sadly, it doesn’t appear that the other members of council OR Mayor Jim Ireton worry too much about the niceties of little things like that.

VIVA BARRIE Anyone?

  2. GA --

Did you see Jim-beau's letter in today's Daily Slime -- he is more interested in getting his hands on money that in controlling expenditure.

See the post below "What Mr. Ireton Did Not Tell Us"

  3. Why is it that every time I see Ireton on TV I think "Obama"?

In 2008 Ireton was a big campaign worker for Barack Obama, and their tax and spend policy is identical.

Each has now been stripped bare of the election rhetoric and is losing support fast now that they have exposed themselves for what they really are.

That is why I am no longer a friend of Jim's. I refused to help his group campaign for Obama and he has been holding it against me ever since. Jim Ireton is very partisan and he shows it every day. He fooled many of us that campaigned for him.

  11. The dump truck is only a small slice of the pie served at the fire department. Every form of trickery and deception were pulled out to make the current SFD fleet. Back door politics involving Comegys and Gordy were everyday adventures at our expense. You could see what was happening and make it public, but the spending continued. Nothing has changed and Ireton is not the answer. Like Obamma he has no management experience and cant deliver what is promised. Campbell and Cohen are the only two I have faith in. Make the Co-Mayors. Three more years of disfunctional government.

  13. This was a very good but upsetting post. Who signed off on this?

I'm not sure about giving Mrs. Smith and the city attorney a pass on it.

Being "dumber than a bag of hair" as you say is no excuse. Mrs. Smith is the council president for heaven's sake!

The city attorney has been around for how many years? Isn't he paid to advise the council about budget amending? Maybe the people should pay Mrs. Cohen and Mrs. Campbell to do the attorney's job. They seem to catch his mess ups enough.

    This is just crazy!

  14. Go ahead and pat Cohen and Campbell on the back because that is all people in this town are going to do. Not one city resident has the guts to stand up and file suit against the city since the Gang of Four at the old mall. Giving C & C props won't solve the problems.

It's not only the dump truck there was the contract signed at the Bricks by Wilber and Smith again without appropriated funds and then there was the 4 year overpayment to PAC 14 that was the "mistake of Pam Oland, CPA. How the hell did she get a CPA license and continue to show she does not know basic math?
