DISTRICT 38 B DELEGATES TO HOLD TOWN HALL MEETINGS

As part of an ongoing effort to keep in touch with community needs, Delegate James Mathias &
Delegate Norman Conway will hold town meetings through February with the goal of helping them make informed decisions during the 2010 session of the Maryland General Assembly.

“The 427th Session of the General Assembly is now underway and there are many measures up for consideration such as balancing the State Budget and bills that target sexual predators,” Conway said.
“These town meetings will be an opportunity to share any concerns you may have with your Delegates.”

Conway & Mathias are looking forward to hearing about issues important to the citizens of Worcester & Wicomico Counties. The pair held similar town meetings at the beginning of 2009, and they both want to encourage all their constituents to attend again this year. They hope citizens will take the opportunity to share their opinions and concerns with the Delegates, as well as learn what the 2010 General Assembly will involve.

“Although the weather has been challenging recently, we want to thank everyone, in Pocomoke and
Snow Hill, who came out for the meetings.” Mathias went on to say, “There’s been frank conversation about issues concerning our district and state. We all recognize the strong assets we have on the Eastern Shore.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in Berlin & Salisbury on Saturday, February 20, 2010.”

Those who are unable to attend the meetings can Contact Mathias and Conway directly. Their district office numbers are listed below.

The following town meetings have been scheduled:

Sat., Feb. 20, 11-12:30pm Salisbury – Wicomico Public Library
Sat., Feb. 20, 3-4:30pm Town Hall of Berlin

  2. Both of these guys need to go. They are both big tax and spend democrats and the fact is we just can't afford them.

  3. Be sure to ask them both about the proposed legislation to require a license to buy or rent a gun in MD.
What an absurd idea-- can't these people read the Constitution?

  4. I attended their Town Hall meeting in Pocomoke City on Saturday. They are both nice guys but they spoke in circles, used a lot of political jargon and couldn't give a straight answer to any question.

  5. This 2 better not vote for that bill. Someone better ask them about it. Time for these people to listen to the people. They are not listening and are being reactive to what they are now hearing.

  6. I heard there is going to be a massive demonstration at the library, very similiar to the recent school board demonstration

I think the swat team and the riot police are supposed to be there

  9. From what I have gathered, Mathias is doing a GREAT job and is SINCERELY concerned of the people's needs in the area!

If you disagree with me and have an IMPORTANT & valid concern to discuss with him, his phone number is clearly shown on this post so give him a call & give the guy a chance before judging him.

  10. Andy, I couldn't agree more. Jim Mathias does care about his district. Anyone saying negative things about him has a personal issue with the man. Overall, Jim Mathias is about the most dedicated politician I know.

Now, nay sayers, prove me wrong.

  11. Joe, so is Norm Conway. He's an incredibly nice guy, who's willing to talk to anyone about any of his votes or any ideas. He's a hard worker and dedicated to the Shore. Don't forget that he's also the chair of the appropriations committee. If we get rid of him, the Democrats will give that seat to someone on the Western Shore, and we become the sh*thouse of Maryland again, like we were under Schaffer.

  12. Norm Conway is for the death penalty for sex offenders and murders as he stated on WBOC's Bless Our Children while sitting beside Sheriff Lewis and Davis Ruark. Get your priorities in order! He has also been instrumental in supporting Deer's Head Hospital, Holly Center, among other state facilities. He was the reason Deer's Head did not have as large of a budget cut as what was proposed by the Governor. He also is very supportive of state employees and cares about our community! Please do not bash him. He has my full support!
