The media is great with this stuff. I watched WBOC bring up the prospect of a Casino in Delmar. They showed two bumkins missing teeth that were for it and one guy with all his teeth and spoke clearly, against it. Too funny...
Dude, I live here (ROA), and this is the norm. It hark's back to the day when tobacco was king. I can't believe the percentage of people that smoke, and I don't mean a little, they are walking chimneys!
But, to place it in perspective, how many old farts do you know that smoked Luckys or Camels since before they dropped out of elementary school to work the farm. The truly harmful effects of smoking seemed to have come about with the genetic manipulation of the tobacco plant to make it a bit more addictive. But that's OK, all in the name of profits, both for the tobacco companies, but for the medical community as well.
this is a sad world we live in. the photo doesn't mention that she is probably collecting welfare, child support, and disability. She then cries about not having enough money or able to afford healthcare, but wait she CAN afford cigarettes!!! Thanks obama for making it easier to mooch!!!
Hey, the poor kid has a bunch of strikes against it already...mom smokes and lives on Bullitt Ave, doesn't exactly sound like the best place to grow up does it? Why, why, why would she let herself be photographed smoking??? You know the reporter and photographer were about to bust a gut.
The editor of the Roanoke Times did a follow up on this after the picture hit the internet and talk show hosts around the area cast their claws into the woman. The journalist asked the woman about the smoking in a foolow up interview and amazingly enough confirmed many people's comments here. She didn't finish high school, hasn't seen her father since she was 13, has worked in fast food but has no job currently, has "heard of the internet, but never used it", and when asked about the criticism was quoted as saying "It didn't bother me. It went in one ear and out the other. I've heard this all my life."
Jamar the babies daddy said he is going to "crip sum muthas up if de keep talkin bout babies momma" Momma said " I haint hads money to gets my depo shot. Cant afford it and cigs and beer" The system is screwing me every way it can.
You people are missing the whole thing here, the jackhammers are the whole problem here, they will have an effect to her unborn child due to the noise that they are making, that is the whole reason this mama is smoking, they are causing her to have tooo much stress trying to concentrate on watching her soap-operahs,she cant hear them well and its stressing her out and making her smoke. LMAO!!!!!!!!!
An Obama voter!
ReplyDeleteThe sound of jackhammers in the street has not been linked to fetal distress or birth defects. Smoking during pregnancy, however...
ReplyDeleteGee..now the poor thing wont be able to hear OR breathe. Dumb arse lady
ReplyDeleteNow where did I leave my beer!
ReplyDelete"And the closer I get to the street, the louder they are! My lawyer's gonna hear about this!"
ReplyDeleteIs this the inspiration for Gretchen Wilson's song "Redneck Woman" ?

ReplyDeleteWhat about the cigaret in her hand?
ReplyDeleteIt looks like she got one too many jack hammers to begin with.
ReplyDeleteI worry about the baby, too, but it isn't because of the noise.

ReplyDeletesmitty240 " Dropped out of Elementary School " that's harsh ! And anyway they smoked Pall Mall's no filter !!!
ReplyDeleteI hate to see a woman with a cigarette, especially a pregnant woman. How stupid. Some women don't deserve ovaries.

ReplyDeleteWho wants to live forever anyway.
ReplyDeleteGet a closeup of the face. I think a paper bag had something to do with her pregnancy.
ReplyDeleteSometimes, a picture really does say it all.

The sad thing is many of the posters here have friends who do this but are too gutless to criticize them.
ReplyDeleteA walking testament to the power of beer.
ReplyDeleteShe was told to put down the Liqour bottle prior taken the pic.
