Anyone that sells a Ford product. Screw all the foreign cars and government owned manufacturers. This is hard for me to say, because I have owned Corvettes for years, but will never get another one as long as they are owned by the govt.
Car Max for sure. I've bought my last two cars from them (brand new) and they both were $3,000 cheaper than Pohanka so it pays to shop out of town. Check them out for yourself. www.carmax.com.
Pohanka Nissan, hands down. The entire staff makes you feel comfortable with no pressure, and they are very knowledgable. Plus, Brad, the sales manager, is a real cutie! :)
Pohanka! Chris Hagel has been a friend of the family for years! I bought my 01 Honda from him 2 years ago, and when I had a small service issue with my alignment, he helped me get into the service department quickly, and the warranty was definitly a help! The service department personnel was extremely helpful! Also my friend Kevin Dean is a great individual and wonderful person to work with when looking for a vehicle, as my good friend experienced. Bob Sadler from the Benz dealership is also a great person to work with! Pohanka is just a great dealership overall!
Pohanka. Some may disagree, however, I get employee pricing, so I never have a reason to complain hahahaha. They actually are reliable & trustworthy. I've bought two cars from them since 2007 & have been completely satisfied. They always call to check and make sure I'm still happy with my purchase & there is always someone to answer and questions I may have. I haven't heard anything good about anywhere else around here.
if they are in business and have been for a while, they must have more happy customers than mad. My point is you are buying a machine. It will break. It all boils down to the dealerships people skils. You can't please everybody but need to try. These are the dealseships that will survive. The customers that can't get over fate or need to blame someone are those that take what they get because they don't know how to get what they want. Or are unwilling to work for it.
I really don't even like the thought of shopping for a new vehicle. But if I must I would recommend Price here in salisbury they are to the point and have a excellent service dept.
If you're in the market for a new car then you either have too much money on your hands or you are simply stupid! Buying a new car is one of the worst investments you can make-it's the only thing that you can purchase that will depreciate at least 25% at the very moment you sign your name! I bought my first new car for $27,000about 7 years ago, financed it in full and totalled it EXACTLY (on the same date I bought it) two years later and I was up-side-down on my financing by $3,500. The car was worth $13,500 when I wrecked it according to the insurance company and I owed $17,000 on the vehicle at the time-I had even been making extra payments on the vehicle throughout the time that I owned it! I also bought GAP insurance from through the finance company-my second mistake! I had to pay a $1,000 deductible for them to cover my $3,500 deficit! I should have known better than to buy insurance from the finance company to begin with.
That being the case-I learned my lesson on purchasing a new vehicle. Since then I have purchased 2 used vehicles. One of which was a 2000 sedan that I paid $2,000 for in 2004, owned for about 3 years and sold it for $3,000. The second was a 2005 Toyota pick up, fully loaded in perfect condition with about 65,000 miles on it, that I bought in 2007-the Blue Book trade in value was $19,500 and the suggested retail value was $23,000. I bought it from a high volume Ford dealer in Atlanta who had it initially listed for $18,000, but I haggled them down to $15,000 plus taxes, tags and title. I purchased a one-way flight to Atlanta for $175 and drive it back to Salisbury. All said and done, I spent just shy of $16,000 total for my truck. The MSRP on my truck, new, was $37,500. I saved $21,500 on a 2 year old truck by purchasing it used and letting the previous owner take the hit on the depreciation! I had to take a little bit of a gamble on my truck because I purchased it back when gas prices were on the rise and nobody wanted a truck that gets 14 MPG at that time, but I needed a full-size truck so it worked out for me when gas prices came down. Currently, I have over 100,000 miles on it and never once had a problem-IT'S A TOYOTA! I just ran the blue book value on my truck; the trade in value is $12,800 and the retail value is $16,100-I still haven't lost my investment after 40,000 miles and 2.5 years of owning it! I have not had a single problem with my truck and since it's a Toyota, I will continue to drive it until the wheels fall off too, but that usually happens around 350,000 miles to Toyotas!
However, if you want to go out and buy a new car, by all means do so! Especially if you are planning on buying a Toyota Rav4 or Highlander-My wife and I will be looking to buy one in the next year or so and I'd be glad to take it off your hands after you pay the depreciation in it!
After saying this, if you're looking for a good dealership to purchase a new or used car from, I would recommend Koons Toyota in Easton or any of the Fitzgerald dealerships in DC Metro area. Unfortunately, most dealerships on the Eastern Shore cannot cut many good deals to buyers simply because of their small inventories-go to a larger dealership and you'll get a much better variety at a lower price.
the service department at Sherwood Ford stinks! They are crooks! I cannot say it strongly enough. If a woman brings a car into Sherwood to get worked on the manager there sees her as victim to be taken advantage of. I know because they totally tried to screw my wife multiple times when I was away on business. Stay away from the service department at Sherwood Ford.
"Unfortunately, most dealerships on the Eastern Shore cannot cut many good deals to buyers simply because of their small inventories-go to a larger dealership and you'll get a much better variety at a lower price."
This is simply just not true. When the Cash for Clunker program was announced, Pohanka was the ONLY dealer to offer the Program rebate of $3500 before the program officially started.
I never, ever buy new vehicles. They're overpriced. If they weren't, I'd be able to sell the one I bought a few days later for what I paid for it, instead of instantly losing 10% or more. And then there's the interest if you take out a loan, which is outrageous.
Gateway Subaru in Delmar! ( the old Saturn dealer ) if they are anything like their Volvo and Subaru dealers in Annapolis, they should do VERY well down here!!
Pittsville Motors, I got a decent deal on a used truck, and I did not feel pressured. I do agree that new car purchases are a big financial risk. With used cars, you will have to do some homework, and do not be afraid to test drive it more than once and ask questions.
Sherwood of Salisbury. Just stick to the deal you want and they'll work with you. I've had my 06 Explorer for a year..very pleased. GO USA>>>>>>GO FORD
They are all in the business of making money some are just a little slimey than the others.
It is sad. Manhiem or E-Bay motors have done awesome at both. E-bay is preety cool if you are careful you can buy cars from Factory auctions and they have all the warranty from a dealer without the commisions.
I will never buy a car in Salisbury again.
Oh and one local dealership if you dont want a car you can buy steriods or all the powder coke you want. Funny they never get touched. Must have a friend at the top.
I really can't name one honest car dealer, but I would advise against buying a used vehicle, because most often you are getting someone else's problems. Why do you think they traded it in? Duh! Because they beat the vehicle and never took care of it, now they want to dump it and start over. Buy new, take good care of it and keep it for ten years. Otherwise, lease a vehicle, beat it, then turn it in.
Do your homework on any vehicle before you buy it. I just bought a new Ford from Fredrick Ford in Seaford. Did my homework on what I wanted to finance and pay and they actually beat another dealers price no questions asked. There was a comment about the interest rate being outragious on a new car. Well if I had bought a used car the interest rate would have been in the neighborhood of about 7.9% even with excellent credit. On the financing of my new car I was able to get 3.9% for 5 years. Again I would deffently purchase another car from Fredrick Ford in Seaford since we have purchased 2 vehicles from them and both times have had great service and a great salesman. Thanks John.
It is not necessarily whether a car is new or used, it's what you buy that helps you obtain the best value. In 2008, I went to Carmax to shop for a used car. Turned out that a NEW Sentra was cheaper than a used Honda.
Now, if you are shopping for the best price for something that's more than basic transportation, Carmax used can't be beat because they have nearly any car manufactured on the lot that you can take for a spin. As far as I know, their inventory is all off lease vehicles. You can browse nationwide at carmax.com just as you can on ebay motors.
As for GM & Chrysler, they say money is lost on every car sold. So, if the taxpayer pays for that loss, why would anyone buy one of their cars so they can lose more money?
Price in Salisbury. We've bought one new & three used. When we had a glitch with a repair they made it right. Will go back soon for a new work vehicle & our next car. Our son will soon be purchasing a car & that's our first stop. Kudos Price!!
Now really, how many of the Postive comments do you think were submitted by dealership employees promoting the dealership. Come on,sign your name at least.
Price, without a doubt. The last three cars I purchased have been from them and the next one will be as well. Great staff, and the service department has the best in the business (Chuck, Phil and Casey do a great job!). Kudos for always treating the customer as they would want to be treated!
I love the Car Store for a great used car. Lots of selection and I got a good deal. The car has not had any trouble except the usual maintenance in the 2 years I have had it.
I got my Toyota from Hertrichs in Milford, didn't have problems, course it was new when bought and a Toyota so naturally i would have no problems ;)......... EVER
11:14, buying a new vehicle is not an investment. Far from it. It is an expense. Big difference.
I expect an investment to increase in value. An expense is money spent, not to be seen again. You called your purchase an investment, then described how it was a large expense.
As a business owner, I need something reliable over the long term. Something that won't be spending any time in the repair shop, staying on the road and supporting my business efforts. For this reason alone, I choose to purchase new when shopping for such a vehicle.
When I bought my last work van, I needed one immediately, as my vehicle was totaled in an accident. I bought a new one at Sherwood. They didn't have the vehicle I needed in stock, but found one d/x from another dealer and swapped them for it. Old vehicle was totaled on a Tuesday, and I was in the new one by the end of the week.
I got a good deal on it (Aug 2003), mainly due to buying it near the end of the model year, I believe.
Since that time, I have put over 154,000 miles on it.
In the next year or so, I will be looking for a replacement -- again a new E250 van will be at the top of my list, because of reliability.
I'll probably shop at Pittsville Motors this time around, as I have discovered that their service dept. is more reasonable with repair costs these days.
Re:2:47--An anonymous tip to the police might be in order if what you allege is true (coke and steroids being available at a local car dealership). Illegal drug purchases are funding the terrorists who are out to destroy our country!
We've bought two cars from Midway in Pocomoke -- one new, one used; both Toyotas. I wouldn't hesitate to go back. And like many others here, we will NEVER buy a NEW car again. Used cars are a much more reasonable price -- you just have to make sure you're buying something reliable. Go TOYOTA!
I am and my family have been Chevy people for years. I would have to agree with a few comments on buying Fords though. I just recently started purcahsing Fords because they are the only auto company that didn't need bailout funds. I can not and will not buy a Chevy again! My purchases have been at Sherwood in SBY and I am completelt satisfied with them from the sale to the service dept to the collision shop, they are awesome to deal with. NEVER POHANKA people they are the biggest crooks, the service dept sucks, they ripp you off on the purchase. They should "pay it forward" because it has to make them feel better after ripping so many people off..
