Thieves Caught In The Act

Delaware State Police Wednesday January 20, 2010 responded to the Tractor Supply business located at 4089 S. DuPont Hwy Camden Delaware for an burglary alarm.


When the Trooper arrived he observed a blue Chevrolet pick up truck with a trailer attachment parked next to the business. The Trooper also observed Jason E. Evans and William E. Tatman Jr. loading a go-kart onto their trailer.


Once the Evans and Tatman noticed the Trooper they fled in the Chevrolet truck with the trailer still attached. The Trooper pursued the truck for several miles until the truck became stuck in a field. Tatman and Evans next fled from their vehicle however were apprehended following a foot pursuit by the Trooper.


Troopers returned to Tractor Supply and discovered a hole was cut into the chain link fenced area in order to gain access. The damage to the fence was estimated at $900.00. Trooper also learned the Trailer which the thieves used was also stolen and valued at $1,100.00.


Tatman and Evans were both arrested on the above listed offenses and each remanded to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in lieu of $3,600 secured bail.


A computer check of Tatman also revealed he had an active warrant out of Troop 5 Bridgeville and escape from the Sussex Halfway House Georgetown, Delaware.
