Maybe Our Own Government Should Learn To Trust Us Too!
As many of you know, Obama truly ticked me off when he became REACTIVE by sending $100,000,000.00 to Haiti without trusting the American people would step up to the plate, as we always do.
Other Countries throughout our history know we're a very loving, caring and giving America. However, the Haitian Government is a very corrupt group who couldn't care less about their own people.
A few years ago, Americans quickly learned that our very own government flat out screwed the people of New Orleans and surrounding counties and states because rather than being PROACTIVE, we've proven we too are REACTIVE no matter who the President is. We learned that the Red Cross would take our donations for Katrina and say, you know what, we've given enough, let's use millions of this money elsewhere.
I guess it really doesn't matter where in the world you go, corruption is just about everywhere. In most recent history Obama's team of experts lost $500,000,000.00 in stimulus money, yet Americans didn't scream at the top of their lungs they wanted someone to be held accountable for where a half a billions dollars disappeared to.
Now we've got phone companies telling us the money you donate today won't get to those in need for a good 3 months. Yeah, this is America, the greatest Country on earth.
One thing you can't put a price tag on is WISDOM. I just wonder how many times Americans will get screwed by others to remember just what WISDOM actually is. You see, to me, WISDOM stepped in within minutes after I heard of the earthquake and I thought, here we go again. Another disaster in the world, I wonder how many will be smart this time and actually sit tight with their wallets and wait to be assured their good hard earned money will actually make it to those in need.
Then we get to hear President Obama already fixed that for us. He's going to take $100,000,000.00 of our hard earned money, (probably FOUND in their spare stimulus account) and send it off to Haiti. Now let's see, what good did that actually do for those in need. Oh, that's right, NOTHING! It was nice to see that Obama reacted faster than Bush did but in the end it made the same amount of difference for those suffering, NOTHING.
Perhaps President Obama has learned a little something from us Americans. We immediately stepped up to the plate and started making our own donations not stolen from us and we proved to the rest of the world that Americans have hearts of gold. We didn't need our President to prove that for us.
Now what does that say about our leadership. It tells me, (at least) that we have a government that is too liberal to actually be accountable for our own financial state of mind as well as well being. God Forbid we see two or three more disasters like this again in the near future and guess what, we're tapped out, period.
While some of the younger generations are more care free, just charge it, (kind of people) they do not realize how desperate we are right now financially as a country because they have been raised on borrowing. Obama is clearly one of them. I guess you actually have to be out there earning a real living any more these days to actually understand what real financial accountability is any more.
Look, its not all about Obama, he's just our current President and target. I'm firmly against our leadership throwing $100,000,000.00 out there as if it was fifty cents! Agree with me or not, we're failing as a country Folks and that's all there is to it. We are losing power so damn fast we can't see straight any more.
While I'm sad for all the lives lost to this disaster in Haiti, US Government money is NOT the answer. We are so close to our very own destruction, how many of you have asked how the victims of Katrina are doing today. Yeah, not many at all. We've become a completely reactive country because our government shows us that's how things should be done. Oh, God Forbid they're actually WRONG. The proof I am right is the FACT that almost a billion American Dollars have been donated that fast by the American people.
Mr. Obama, why don't YOU and your people sit back and take a lesson from us Americans and trust US for once. Let US show you how we can actually handle these disasters without your help. YOU have spent enough of OUR money over the past year, HOW'S IT WORKING FOR US!!!!!!!
A hundred years ago Haiti and others would have simply dealt with their disasters, just as Americans had to deal with our own. The day they start raising the American Flag on their soil is the day we need YOU to send them a check. Until then, let us do our own thing and you start worrying about our own soil before we're forced to raise a Chinese Flag here before we know it.
While I've got your attention, God Forbid the people of Massachusetts actually vote from their hearts too. No, instead our President has to brainwash those citizens by running commercials suggesting their party is better. You know what Folks, I'm this close to giving up.
I would like to see a line item accounting after all this money is spent. I think we're owed that. They'll know where every penny goes, and they should openly divulge that.
ReplyDeleteI quit.
ReplyDeleteDid Bush tick you off when he sent money to the victims of the Tsumani? It is not unusual for a president to pledge monetary support for disasters in our country or abroad. I don't think a disaster of this magnitude has happened in my lifetime - over 50 years - can you think of one this bad?
ReplyDeleteanonymous 4:22, clearly you didn't read the entire article. Clearly you also didn't get the POINT. I'll not waste any more of my time with you.
ReplyDeleteJoe ,we diagree on alot altho I am not a democrat more of a libaterian at heart .On this subject you are DEAD ON period.
ReplyDeleteT
Haitis own doctors and medical staff are in hiding. wtf gives??
ReplyDeleteMichelle should now be PROUD OF AMERICA! They finally said a PRAYER for someone.
ReplyDeleteJoe , the obama theory is:
ReplyDelete1. print more money
2. print more money
3. print more money
etc. etc. etc.
Who knows , maybe obama was born in this corrupt little nation. No one knows where he was born , that's it , it's all getting clear now. I thought I saw a picture of him in his early years with dredlocks , or corn rows. Naw , I think he was pickin cotton.
He has ordered this to happen , as any dictator would!
ReplyDeletePlease sir, may I has more debt for my kids who aren't born yet? and their kids?
ReplyDeleteGreat article! I am not giving a dime to Haiti for my tax dollars are being spent over there already. We need to bring jobs back into this country. I mean manufacturing jobs. We can't be a country where everyone is working in the healthcare field. Let's fix our country first.
ReplyDelete5:08 says what many are thinking and gets right to the reason why government shouldn't be in the social services arena. The private sector and individuals can do it much better, but when people know their taxes are being used for programs at home and abroad they are less likely to give from their own pockets. Everyone loses, except for a few corrupt people who always seem to benefit from government handouts. After the government finishes supporting bueracracy, I'll bet that no more than ten cents on the dollar actually reaches the people intended to benefit from various programs. Government - go back to core services and let us decide how to spend OUR MONEY. I would send money too, but am sickenened by the fact that the government has stepped in and done so- made my decision for me, they did.
ReplyDeleteJoe, I feel the same frustration that you do about this. We're near the end of our rope. This country is worse than broke. We're so far in debt, we'll never get out and this President spends like there's no tomorrow. I feel our future is hopeless. And you're right, the Chinese will own us before long. It's so frustrating and sad for us.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as this tragedy in Haiti happened, I said the same thing; let the people of this country decide how much they can each afford to help, and they will do it. We certainly don't need our government sending a fortune to Haiti when we're in such deep debt ourselves and our economy is in such terrible shape.
I'm glad so many have "seen the light."
ReplyDeleteMy God, we are losing EVERYTHING we as Americans have worked so hard for.
Politicians have absolutely proven they can steal elections, put puppets into office and even become President who barely shave or act like real MEN. Yeah, you heard me right. Clinton was a complete A-Hole with women. Bush was the biggest joke this country has ever seen and both parties left us with McCain/Palin or Obama/Biden. I mean, WTF! Is it that bad that we don't have two real qualified human beings in America that the majority, (I'm talking 70%) of the people say, WE NEED THEM RGHT NOW.
MLK was a REAL MAN. Reagan was a REAL MAN. Tell me, any one of you, who do YOU think is a REAL MAN today. This I just have to hear.
What you are missing Joe, is that it would be a foreign policy and moral mistake for our government to do this. Castro and Chavez would love to expand their influence in the region, and this would be the playing into their hands and speechs for decades.
ReplyDeleteI see your 'sheepl' are following your opinion - great for you. Funny that the only types I see with this line of thinking in the wake of such devastation are those of the Rush ilk. More power to you - hope you can sleep at night. Hope I get to see you all on your personal day of reckoning.
ReplyDeleteI am right there with you Joe but I do see things happening. I see regular folks who are dems, repubs, independents and libertarians getting absolutely sick and tired of the fat cat politicians who are addicted to the power of making the regular folks suffer.
ReplyDeleteNew Jersey, Virginia and tomorrow Massachusetts will prove that.
BUT, we have not yet found a politician who can fill those shoes.
Hopefully someone will step up to the plate by the next election cycle.
WTF, we are sending all this money, donations and military presence. I am truly sorry for the people of Haiti. But what about all the homeless and jobless people in this country. Oh I guess its okay because Obama did a photo op while feeding the homeless today.I am not sending nothing to Haiti because I already have involuntarily thanks to our Prez. I went to the Salvation Army today and they asked me how much I wanted to donate to the disaster relief. I asked them are you talking about this country? They said no "Haiti". I said the hell with Haiti I want to donate to the people in this country who need the help.Keep all the money here.
ReplyDeleteSo I'm a bit tired of arguing against Joe and his crowd on this based on the "moral obligation" side, so I'll just throw out the angle that NOBODY else is talking about.
ReplyDeleteWithout aggressive US aid and presence, you best believe that islamic extremist would swoop in to fill the power void. They would offer food and water to a desperate populace. Let me add a young and desperate populace. A sit down over food would turn into "come listen to me preach about how the US abandoned you" and 10 years down the line, we'd be watching for terrorists coming out of Haiti. Don't believe me? Just take a look at Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Afghanistan. Not only was this a good move based on moral grounds; it was a great geopolitical move
I refuse to donate money to Haiti! 1st of all we ( The U.S.) always give tooo much money to other countries, let Russia take care of them! I will NOT donate, not to be mean, but enough of our TAX Dollars are being spend the wrong way! Let's take of OUR Country 1st! This Country was based on INDIVIDUALISM NOT SOCIALISM! ( unfortunately we are headed in that direction)
ReplyDelete7:31
ReplyDeleteYou overlooked one thing that many dont consider, and thats religion.Except for those Haitians who are pagans(voodoo,Santaria, etc),the majority are Catholic and their beliefs vary greatly from Islam,so Muslim factions would find it difficult to gain a foothold in a nation where people are exclusively either Christian or pagan.
Diplomatically speaking, the US only wants to be a presence in Haiti so they can keep an eye on Cuba.
You know what, don't send any money and wait for the 1 to 2 million Haitian refuges to invade our shores. The same refuges will then join the government payroll and cost us the USA a lot more than 100 million with all their welfare and healthcare. The healthcare that will have to go towards treatment of HIV/AIDS since Haiti has the greatest concentration of infected people in the Western Hemisphere.
ReplyDeleteYes $100 Million is a ton of money; but when you rebuild Haiti, you keep Haitians in Haiti and don't have them flooding our shores with their problems. I won't even mention the crime Haitian gangs would bring with them in a turf war.
Budd, I'm sure they'll be flying in 1st Class too.
ReplyDeleteAmerican Red Cross accepts donations for local use is that's where you want it to be used. If you want to donate something to Haiti, it will be sent there on your behalf.
ReplyDeleteIt's called "DONOR INTENT". Your money goes to support what YOU want it to support. No one says you MUST donate to Haiti - you can donate and specify that it is to stay here in this area.
The American Red Cross is NOT a government agency - it is an independent non-profit organization.
On NPR, a Haitian goverment official said that Haiti's problem is TOO MUCH GOVERNMENT, that when you rely on the government for your money and jobs you are at a disadvantage, that Haiti needs MORE PRIVATE SECTOR INVESTING... even the socialists/dictatorships can see the need for capitalism.
ReplyDelete$100,000,000.00 in aid(troops, MREs, tents, milk, etc.), it's not in cash... there is a big difference. I don't think that they will give $100M away just like that since US doesn't have that money to give away anyway.
ReplyDeleteI am all for helping out people in Haiti but we should only give what we can afford.
