Troopers Searching for Robbery Suspect Who Used a Hypodermic Needle as a Hold-up Weapon

Resume: Kevin Cox was arrested a short time ago in Delaware. He is currently at Troop 2 in Glasgow. A more complete news release will be forthcoming later this evening when the details surrounding his arrest are known and confirmed.

Troopers Searching for Robbery Suspect Who Used a Hypodermic Needle as a Hold-up Weapon

Resume: Earlier today, DSP Troopers set up surveillance in multiple areas of the City of Wilmington in an attempt to locate Kevin Cox. Detectives had a stroke of luck when one of them spotted Mr. Cox at an undisclosed location in the city. Officers converged on the scene as they prepared to take Cox into custody.

The suspect then got into a taxi cab which headed southbound on Route 13- it is not believed that he knew officers were closing in on him. The taxi was stopped on Route 13 in front of the old Troop 2 and Cox was taken into custody without incident.

Investigators were interested to see that Cox had changed his hair color to black in recent days in an attempt to conceal his identity.

Kevin Cox was charged with felony Aggravated Menacing, felony Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony, felony Attempted Robbery 1st, felony Robbery 1st and issued a detainer from Pennsylvania on charges stemming from incidents in that state. Bail was set at $93,000 cash and Cox was committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institute.

Detectives have been unable to locate the vehicle (a 2002 Lexus RX-3 SUV, silver in color, displaying a PA registration of EMD 6030) Cox was using during his robbery spree. A like picture is included below. Should anyone come across it, they are asked to call 911 immediately.
