Pro-Gun Bill To Be Heard On Thursday

Maryland Pro-Gun Bill Scheduled to be Heard in
Committee on Thursday!

Please Contact the House Judiciary Committee Today!

The House Judiciary Committee is scheduled to hear House Bill 359 on Thursday, February 19 at 1:00 p.m.

HB359, introduced by State Delegates Tony McConkey (R-33A), Jill Carter (D-41), Benjamin Kramer (D-19), Susan McComas (R-35B), and Kriselda Valderrama (D-26), would allow an eligible citizen who has had a temporary or final protective order issued on their behalf to be issued a concealed handgun permit by the Secretary of State Police.

This is a step in the right direction toward ensuring that all law-abiding Marylanders can exercise the Right-to-Carry for self-defense.

Please contact the members of the House Judiciary Committee TODAY and respectfully urge them to support HB359. Contact information can be found below.

Sheriff Bobby Jones Update Soon

Ladies & Gentlemen, this story is just unbelievable! I have spoken to the alleged victim and am currently working on the story. I WILL have something posted soon. More to come.....

The Stimulus Bill

Shortly after class, an economics student approaches his economics professor and says, "I don't understand this stimulus bill. Can you explain it to me?"

The professor replied, "I don't have any time to explain it at my office, but if you come over to my house on Saturday and help me with my weekend project, I'll be glad to explain it to you." The student agreed.

At the agreed-upon time, the student showed up at the professor's house. The professor stated that the weekend project involved his backyard pool. They both went out back to the pool, and the professor handed the student a bucket. Demonstrating with his own bucket, the professor said, "First, go over to the deep end, and fill your bucket with as much water as you can." The student did as he was instructed.

The professor then continued, "Follow me over to the shallow end, and then dump all the water from your bucket into it." The student was naturally confused, but did as he was told.

The professor then explained they were going to do this many more times, and began walking back to the deep end of the pool.

The confused student asked, "Excuse me, but why are we doing this?"

The professor matter-of-factly stated that he was trying to make the shallow end much deeper.

The student didn't think the economics professor was serious, but figured that he would find out the real story soon enough.

However, after the 6th trip between the shallow end and the deep end, the student began to become worried that his economics professor had gone mad. The student finally replied, "All we're doing is wasting valuable time and effort on unproductive pursuits. Even worse, when this process is all over, everything will be at the same level it was before, so all you'll really have accomplished is the destruction of what could have been truly productive action!"

The professor put down his bucket and replied with a smile,

"Congratulations! You now understand the stimulus bill."

Dave C's Comment Worthy Of A Post

I felt like doing some math this morning, so here we go....

Our good friend Cheif Webster apparently lives in WESTOVER and drives his precious take-home CITY OF SALISBURY Crown Vic Police Interceptor approximately 19.6 miles to and from work. That is a 39.2 mile round trip and assuming that he works 5 days a week that would add up to 196 miles a week and 10,192 miles a year! According to the 2009 Ford CVPI specs (not sure what year Webby's is, but I'm sure that the MPG is as good or worse than the 2009 model) he should be getting 23 MPG highway and 15 MPH City. I'll average the two and we'll estimate his fuel economy at 19 MPH (That also assumes that he can keep his foot in check and drive like a civilize human being). We'll use 2008's average fuel cost in MD as a standard, $3.18/gal.

So according to my calculations...

we, the tax payers, paid $1,705.81 for good ole Webster to drive to and from work last year. Remember, this is just one round trip per day, 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year. This does not include additional trips to and from Court, special events, meetings, grocery shopping, joyriding with the wifey, and other unneccessary trips.

Let's also not forget, that's 10,192 miles per year off the life of the vehicle!!!!!!!!!!! Police vehicles rack up mileage quick, and now we allow Webster to expedite the death of our city vehicles...RIDICULOUS!

Take a tip Chiefy, quit spending our money! Maybe if you had to dodge some of the bullets flying in Salisbury then you would realize that the safety here has gone down the toilet and you'd actually do something about this crime wave! Maybe if you were actually active in our community like Mike Lewis has been then good folks like Mr. Shea wouldn't be sitting in the Hospital with 8 bullets in him!

Work where you live-so buy a house in Salisbury or get a job in Westover, I prefer the latter!

Second Annual Wicomico Engineering Expo

Feb. 18 at Wicomico High

On Wednesday, Feb. 18, members of the Maryland Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) are presenting a program for high school students at Wicomico High School from 8:30-11 a.m. as part of the second annual Wicomico Engineering Expo. Hands-on demonstrations will allow students to participate in the following Civil Engineering specialties: Structural Engineering, Geotechnical (Soils) Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Computer Aided Design (CAD), Surveying, Land Use Planning Engineers and technologists from local engineering firms and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) will staff the demonstration stations. Participating organizations are: Becker Morgan AWB Engineers/Andrew W. Booth Associates Davis, Bowen and Friedel Hillis-Carnes The University of Maryland Eastern Shore The week of February 15-22, 2009, has been designated as Engineers Week 2009. Each year, the week following Presidents Day is designated as Engineers Week. This week has been selected because George Washington is viewed as being the first, or earliest, prominent American engineer. President Washington was a surveyor engaged in early surveys of the frontier lands of the American Colonies. The major engineering societies in the US along with corporate sponsors, participate in activities across the country to inform the public about the profession and its achievements. Outreach programs for K-12 schools are an important part of the week’s program. The American Society of Civil Engineers was founded in 1852 as the first American professional engineering society. It is the oldest engineering society in the United States.

Andrew Nock Photography Wins Best In Show

Best In Show
Andrew Nock is a local photographer. They have been in business for 14 years and last night he attended the Delaware Professional Photographers First Print Competition of the year. This is the first time he has ever submitted entries into the competition and he walked away with Best in Show (wedding/candid non master), 1st, 2nd. and 3rd place (wedding/candid).

He recently entered the Professional Photographers of America Magazine Cover contest and won Honorable Mention out of 50,000 entries. This is what really encouraged him to go ahead and submit some of his images. This really is quite and honor and 2 out of the 4 images qualified to move onto the regional competition. Andy is a wonderful photographer and they are really concentrating on taking their business to whole other level.

COMEGYS BACKS BIGGER CITY GOVERNMENT – BIG TIME

At last night’s forum for the Mayoral Candidates, sponsored by Urban Salisbury, Mr. Comegys advocated greater involvement by the City (taxpayer funded, of course) in the Downtown Salisbury area. No dollar amounts were mentioned, but he has supported the recent consultant’s recommendation for upscale development along the “North Prong” of the river (between Route 50 and Isabella Street) that has an estimated cost to Salisbury’s taxpayers of millions of dollars.

As Mr. Caldwell observed, given the current economic climate and its effect on future City revenue, it is unlikely that programs of such magnitude are doable. And then there’s the matter of the City’s many other and more pressing needs.

It is obvious that Mr. Comegys is for bigger city government; he has already voted twice to raise Salisbury’s property tax rates, so we can really predict how he would try to budget if he became the mayor.

First It Was Frank Kratovil, Now It's Gary Comegys

Man, Gordy just can't help boosting his prices to the highest rates on the Eastern Shore before anyone else does. He supported Kratovil and his rates went through the roof and now Comegys and his prices skyrocketed once again! I guess that's the price you pay for politics, eh Folks?

March For Life

Did you know that Maryland is one of the most un-regulated states in the nation, for abortion?

What does that mean?

It means 'ANYONE' can do an abortion, ANYWHERE, for any reason!

No, you DO NOT have to be a doctor or even a nurse!

There is no informed consent.

Girls and women are not told of the devastating consequences of the physical and emotional aftermath of their choice. BUT in Maryland, parents, MUST sign a paper to have an ASPIRIN given to your daughter, but she could go to school and have someone take her OFF SCHOOL PROPERTY for an abortion and you would never be told and may never know. Does it even make any kind of sense that an invasive procedure could be done on a minor without a parent's permission? A procedure that always causes heavy bleeding, but can lead to the DEATH of your daughter!

Additionally, the father of the unborn child does not have to be informed of the woman's choice to end her pregnancy

It is especially terrible when so many of our legislators are voting pro-choice.

My name is Leslie Dean and I am the Regional Coordinator for the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, here on the eastern shore of Maryland.
I am forwarding this to you in the hopes that as many of you as possible will attend. We have a bus, thanks to the efforts of Cookie Harris, and it will only cost you $12 which includes tip. You may call me if you are in Maryland and I can take your reservation. My phone # is 410-543-2660 or you can write to me at this email address. If you are not in MD and would still like to come, please come support us.

If you can't be there at all, could you PLEASE help us get the word out by copying and pasting this letter and PSA and sending it to as many people as possible in your email address book? You would be doing a huge favor for us and for the many women and babies that need to be reached with the truth.

Numbers are important so please come out. Let's stop the insanity.

Lynn Cathcart Gets Spanked At Last Night's Forum

While they were very specific last night asking Citizens to only ask questions about the Downtown area, Lynn Cathcart figured she'd get up there and mention her Sin In Law works as a Police Officer for the Salisbury Police Department and wanted to know what each candidate was willing to do for the SPD.
WELL, they weren't going to have any part of that question so they refused to accept the question and said again, only Downtown Salisbury questions from the audience please. This was LIVE on WICO and I'm sure PRMC was on overtime last night as many folks probably went there for oxygen because they were laughing so hard.
Lynn made a complete fool out of herself last night. I was having a nice conversation with her Husband Don when Lynn noticed we were talking and like Hot Lips on M*A*S*H*, (all due respect Don) she came running over and grabbed Don by the arm and dragged him away. She wanted nothing other than to get him away from me. Karma is a biotch, isn't it Lynn. Tell Jonnie I said hello. ;-)
All I kept thinking was, PUT YOUR HAND DOWN, YOUNG MAN, PUT YOUR HAND DOWN!

Two Irishmen Lost At Sea

Two Irishmen, Patrick & Michael, were adrift in a lifeboat following a dramatic escape from a burning freighter. While rummaging through the boat's provisions,Patrick stumbled across an old lamp. Secretly hoping that a genie would appear,h e rubbed the lamp vigorously.

To the amazement of Patrick , a genie came forth. This particular genie, however, stated that he could only deliver one wish, not the standard three.

Without giving much thought to the matter, Patrick blurted out, "Make the entire ocean into Guinness Beer!" The genie clapped his hands with a deafening crash, and immediately the entire sea turned into the finest brew ever sampled by mortals. Simultaneously, the genie vanished.

Only the gentle lapping of Guinness on the hull broke the stillness as the two men considered their circumstances. Michael looked disgustedly at Patrick whose wish had been granted. After a long, tension-filled moment, he spoke: "Nice going Patrick! Now we're going to have to pee in the boat!

Chili's Lays Off Employees

Yesterday I went to lunch at Chili's with a wonderful friend of mine. Actually, I should say, I was treated to lunch yesterday by a wonderful friend of mine. Thanks Linda!
Nevertheless, when I looked around inside the restaurant it was a ghost town. Usually that place is hopping. When I spoke with the Hostess she told me they had just laid off 6 Servers because things were so slow.
She also said that if it wasn't for the College kids they don't know what they'd do. Looks like Mom and Dad continue to foot the bill while their kids eating out regularly. I know I'd be telling my kid to buy a loaf of bread and some Bologna or peanut butter & jelly. If he wants to eat, GET A JOB!
Nevertheless, things are getting a whole lot worse out there Folks. Deny it all you want or even try to claim the restaurant businesses aren't hurting, (like I've seen a lot of comments saying so on this Blog) you're wrong!

This Is Very Interesting

A few years after I was born, my Dad met a stranger who was new to our small Texas town. From the beginning, Dad was fascinated with this enchanting newcomer and soon invited him to live with our family. The stranger was quickly accepted and was around from then on.

As I grew up, I never questioned his place in my family. In my young mind, he had a special niche. My parents were complementary instructors: Mom taught me good from evil, and Dad taught me to obey. But the stranger...he was our storyteller. He would keep us spellbound for hours on end with adventures, mysteries and comedies.

If I wanted to know anything about politics, history or science, he always knew the answers about the past, understood the present and even seemed able to predict the future! He took my family to the first major league ball game. He made me laugh, and he made me cry. The stranger never stopped talking, but Dad didn't seem to mind.

Sometimes, Mom would get up quietly while the rest of us were shushing each other to listen to what he had to say, and she would go to the kitchen for peace and quiet. (I wonder now if she ever prayed for the stranger to leave.)

Dad ruled our household with certain moral convictions, but the stranger never felt obligated to honor them. Profanity, for example, was not allowed in our home... Not from us, our friends or any visitors. Our longtime visitor, however, got away with four-letter words that burned my ears and made my dad squirm and my mother blush. My Dad didn't permit the liberal use of alcohol. But the stranger encouraged us to try it on a regular basis. He made cigarettes look cool, cigars manly and pipes distinguished. He talked freely (much too freely!) about sex. His comments were sometimes blatant, sometimes suggestive, and generally embarrassing.

I now know that my early concepts about relationships were influenced strongly by the stranger. Time after time, he opposed the values of my parents, yet he was seldom rebuked... And NEVER asked to leave.

More than fifty years have passed since the stranger moved in with our family. He has blended right in and is not nearly as fascinating as he was at first. Still, if you could walk into my parents' den today, you would still find him sitting over in his corner, waiting for someone to listen to him talk and watch him draw his pictures.

His name?.... .. .

We just call him 'TV.'

(Note: This should be required reading for every household in America !)

He has a wife now....We call her 'Computer'!

A Comment Worthy Of A Post

"And Chief See lives in Delaware, Deputy Chief Rick Hoppes lives in Parsonsburg and Volunteer Deputy Chief Gordy hangs his hat in Delaware. All have city take home cars and your fuel. Volunteer Deputy Chief Bill Gordy just got a brand new Crown Vic with the sticker still in the window. $28,080 of your tax money. That doesn't include the $15,000 light package or the 800 mhz radios or the stripe package. Does anyone know what the final cost of that take home car is?"

Have You Taken Your Blood Pressure Medication This Morning?

By executive order, president Barack Obama has ordered the expenditure of $20.3 million in migration assistance to the Palestinian refugees and conflict victims in Gaza.

The "presidential determination" which allows hundreds of thousands of Palestinians with ties to Hamas to resettle in the United States was signed on January 27 and appeared in the Federal Register on February 4. Yes folks, avowed suicide bombers being paid to come to the USA.

Here are Barack Obama's most recent actions.

1. His first call to any head of state as president was to Mahmoud Abbas, leader of Fatah party in the Palestinian territory.

2. His first one on one interview with any news organization was with Al Arabia television.

3. He ordered Guantanamo Bay closed and all military trials of detainees halted.

4. He ordered all overseas CIA interrogation centers closed.

5. He withdrew all charges against the masterminds behind the USS Cole and 9/11.

6. And now we learn that he is allowing hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refuges to move to and live in the US at American taxpayer expense.

DOES SOMETHING SMELL HERE???

Delmar High Talent Show

Hey Mr. Albero,

Last Friday night, Delmar High hosted a talent show for the kids at the school and it was a complete sell out. They had to put chairs around the side because every seat in the place was filled. For those that got shut out, they are selling the copies of the show at Delmar middle/high for $10.00 There was a lot of talented kids there and it was good to see the amount of people show up to support these kids. Just wanted to let you know about the CD’s in case anyone asked you about them.

If anyone is interested in a copy of that show you can contact Mrs. Webb at 1-302-846-9544. You can also view some of the photos HERE.

How Many Zeros In A Billion?

How Many Zeros In A Billion?

This is too true to be funny.
The next time you hear a politician use the word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about whether you want the 'politicians' spending YOUR tax money.

A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into some perspective in one of it's releases.
A. A billion seconds ago it was 1959.
.
B. A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.
C. A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.
D. A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.
E. A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate our
government is spending it.
While this thought is still fresh in our brain... let's take a look at New Orleans ..
It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division.
Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D) is presently asking Congress for
250 BILLION DOLLARS
to rebuild New Orleans . Interesting number...what does it mean?
A. Well... if you are one of the 484,674 residents of New Orleans
(every man, woman, and child) you each get $516,528.
B. Or... if you have one of the 188,251 homes in New Orleans ,
your home gets $1,329,787.
C. Or... if you are a family of four...your family gets $2,066,012.
